    When installing the last 2 bolts (Step 7)… the included 6x30mm are woefully to short…muscle all you want, but there is not enough flex in the skid plate to make them work. Use a 6x35mm (2) and the spacer to draw the skid plate closer to the frame… alternate back and forth until the skid plate is seated…. The remove one of the 6x35mm and replace it with the included 6x30mm/spacer torque it down then repeat in the other side…. BOOM.. your done..
    And of course , adorn your fancy new skid plate with the Slavens decal of your choice..

    Installed the AXP I purchased from you a couple of weeks ago on my TBI. Perfect fit, two tips 1) if the clip nuts don't fit tight in the pockets of in mount block (the initial piece you install), put a piece of tape over them to keep them from falling out when you get to whackin' the skidplate into position with your hand, and 2) make sure you have that mountblock angled in the correct position so that the hook of the skidplate fully engages (bottoms) on the rear cross member of the bike frame. I ended up having to angle the mountblock a bit more downward to both get the skidplate hook to fully engage and to line up the bolts. The 35mm bolts are the right length, but you will need to put some pressure on the front of the skidplate for first install to get them to "catch" the clip nut threads in the mountblock. My skidplate is holding up great so far to the beating it is getting in the AZ rocks.

    I literally put mine on an hour before your video, front mount was a pain to align but I got it after a "lot" of tries. Need to get that front block in the right position but also need to figure in that the skid plate is going to flex some when you push it in to the frame rails. Re-install after oil change should be a breeze now that the front block in stays permanent.

    Except the right side when sitting on it is the brake side not clutch side. 😂. I knew what you meant. Good video

    Hey whats up brother i just picked up a 23 xc and i am ordering this skid plate off your site and a few other things, i wanted to know your thoughts on the carbon fiber maxcoverage pipe guard you have available for protection?

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello: Congrats on the new XC. I use carbon fiber pipe guards but they only protect the pipe from rocks kicked up from the front wheel and tip overs and small crashes. They do not protect well on bigger crashes.

    I noticed you didn’t bolt in the last 2 (the front 2). These were the biggest pain point for me, and I ended up sanding down the front corner of the skidplate in order for these bolts to mount.
    Axp 4T skidplates - super easy to install. The 23 xc model - total PITA (first time, repeated install after sanding is no problem)
    Too bad AXP is still the best choice (imo) for lightweight and super thick/durable.

      Hello John
      The front bolts were a little troublesome until I correctly aligned the mount block.
      I don’t understand what you sanded. Can you send me a pic please? Jeff@slavensracing.com.

    Lol I tryed attaching my new axp skid plate today to my 2023 husqvarna tx 300 and I can't for the life of me get those 2 front bolts to come close to going into the clip threads 😅 so I'm gonna try some longer bolts I screwed with them bolts for a good while . Any one else have this trouble ?

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello:
      Yes, it can be a little challenging. I do two things that make it easier. 1) Hook the rear mount onto the frame then hold up the front while you put a jack-up stand under it and lift the bike. The pressure of the stand usually gets the skid into better position for installing the bolts. 2) Use one 10mm longer bolt on one side to pull it into position then install the provided bolt into the other hole and snug it finger tight. Then remove the longer bolt and install the provided bolt and tighten both. After the skid is installed and used for a while, it will form to the frame and be much easier next time.

    Does the rear of the skidplate interfere with the swingarm movement at all? Looks like the extension that protects the linkage will push up if the swingarm extends fully or does it(skidplate) flex easy enough with the weight of the wheel and shock force to not be an issue.

    Just installed it. What a nightmare. Took over an hour. The big problem is that the front plastic mounting block has to be angled absolutely perfect in order for the bolts to be able to thread in. I had take the guard on and off about 10 times, slightly adjusting that block angle each time. There’s no way to see behind it clearly so it’s trial and error until it’s correct. not well thought out design by AXP.

      We are trying to presuade AXP to resign how their skid plates mount.
