Along with improving my art skills, I'm finding your voice overs help me to manage my pain levels and help me to cope daily. I can't express how much you help me in so many ways. Thank you and bless you. I'm still struggling to make flesh tones using your technique, but I'll keep practicing and watching your videos. Since I'm mostly house bound now, I miss having honest critiques. It's nice when people say nice things on my Instagram postings, but that doesn't help to promote growth.
I am so pleased that my work is helping you so Patricia... I would recommend joining my Patreon where you get more benefits which includes an exclusive Facebook group page to join... there, other artists support each other and give advice for improvements. Thanks for watching. 🙏
I've recently learnt that the artist benefits if we let the advertisements run instead of clicking skip. I'd like to ask people to do this now that we know because Dave puts a lot into his videos for us for free and I think that shows our appreciation. Thanks Dave for another great video.
Wonderful demonstration. I have the CarbOthello and Faber Castel and love them both and use them a lot in my animal life work. They work so well with both pan and stick pastels. I have held off on the Caran D'ache because so many seem to complain about them being difficult to sharpen and use. Watching you be patient with them and achieving the objective reinforces that the pencils are just fine, it is all about the right technic for the tool.
Thank you for the kind words... if you want to know how I sharpen my pencils please check out my video... here is a quick link: th-cam.com/video/7YGvMZ-N0jw/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching 🙏

Such an excellent explanation of the differences in feel and workability of each brand. I enjoy each for different reasons but before I had the Pastelmat I leaned more on the Carbothellos and the Caran ‘de ache pastel pencils but I do enjoy the Faber-Castell ones on this substrate. It seems to use less tooth and I can get down my preliminary work. A blend of them all is worth it. Thank you for putting into words and illustration how each contributes.😊
