I built one inside the hedge....the empty interior parts. You can build a staircase from the porch up to and through the white window ledge to access it. Huuuuge area to work with, just need to start with flooring off the wood parts. Absolutely 0 raids. Best after telepotty acquired. Also have a mini impenetrable outpost in the molar container in the upper yard where the 5 molars spawn.
I’ve definitely heard the hedge is a great power spot once you have that teleporter. Especially against raids and just being secure against all threats. That mole spot is great as well. I plan to feature that base location in a future base video 😀
Just started the game and my instinct was to build on top of the baseball lol. Perched on that stick killed two ladybugs already, used around 100 arrows.
Nice. Having the high ground is always an instinct I feel like 😂 also nice work on the ladybugs. I would suggest to gather some more thistles and make 5 spikey clubs. It only takes 5 thrown spiky clubs to the ladybugs dome and they splat. Just retrieve the clubs when you’re done and re use them for next time 😀
@@Trollgernautt yeah of course. Yeah you can throw every melee weapon and it deals more damage than a standard attack, but then you have to find wherever it lands lol 😂
@@ChaosBearGamingstand close to whatever you want to attack, throw the spikey club with a downward angle and then spam E, you’ll catch the club right after you throw it so you can keep doing it over and over
@@ilikesnow8146 that’s a very nice tip. Thanks for sharing that. I knew that worked with spears, however I hadn’t considered that for the spiky club. I will have to give it a try 😀
I personally built my base on the lily pads in the middle of the pond. Puts you in the middle of the map and only base attacks are from mosquitos. But the mushrooms bricks are strong and look like a dope castle so 🤷♂️
The lily pads is a great place to build. I featured them as a great base location in the 3rd best base location I made. it should be linked in the pinned comment 😀
My favorite spot is the big flat rock above the hot coal zone and the wolf spider bag. Unreachable by any bugs except for flying invasion bugs, and a great vantage point for zip line across anywhere in the lower yard
I like to build a mushroom castle on the picnic table. You can’t really do it anymore since they added the VHS tape in the spot I would build, but since I had already built my base there on my main save, it makes for the perfect base
My spot was the can near the frankline because it had good protection and the logs and rocks gave you a defense but one downside is spiders but after you get early to mid game you can build walls and keep them out

I featured that location in my first best base location video, the top 15 best base locations. I really like that spot. It’s very safe and of course has the research station. The only downside would be bringing up materials to build with.
I built my base inside the giant stone pagoda at the back of the koi pond...Probably overall my favorite little place to build one. Nothing can really get you over there except flying insects when they raid and the crow lands on top alot and drops plenty of feathers in the water if and when you want to craft arrows.
@@Moromeister They surround that area, but aren’t actually at the pagoda. You will find them across the way at the rose bushes and the little light by the tree stumps. Which I didn’t consider when I made the tree stump location. They are also on the other side of the pond on both sides. Near the flower bushes on the one side and by the tree stumps where the orb weavers spawn on the other side.
@Moromeister It's a good thing the wasps are easy to avoid most of the time lol. The most wasps I've had to deal with were inside the brawny boy bin...only a few wasp encounters outside that. I ran one zipline from the pagoda to the ground kinda over by the juice box so that's the only way you can access my base unless you jump off the rock wall behind the pagoda...or swim to it from the other side of the pond lol. I play solo so all I had to worry about were insects lol.
I think i have only seen 1 person who built 1 base on the orange leaves. Those are pretty much safe from all the land pests. I’d rather use the Leaf near the base ball then the baseball. You build it a couple stories and you have quicker access to land above… my favorite leaf is near the grill. If you go up the upper ascent keep hading back to the next wall. There is an orange leaf that will take you too the next height. That leaf and the platform above is probably the best location mid/late game.
That first spot WOULD be nice. I instinctively did something similar to it on my first playthrough but after the wasps are free that base is right in the middle of where they’re at (flowers)
Yeah I didn’t consider the late game events when I made this video. As I hopped into a fresh version of creative to make it. If you like the lamp idea though, there’s a lamp in the upper yard just above the rockwall that has a moth that spawns on top of it. It should be semi close to the pink car, or the closest lamp to that car. That one is a little more difficult to build to. This is due to all the grass that is not breakable that gets in the way when building stairs, but it also stops aggressive creatures from climbing your stairs. Also they’re no wasps in that location. This was my 2nd best base location video. I made a third one, where I cover that new lamp location 😀
I agree that one is really good and then your snap point for your foundation to the structure is also in a place that is not really reachable for most bugs, so the base is really safe. Great call out. I forget to mention that one 😀
during every Playthrough my first base always starts above the mysterious machine. By building up above it, I avoid a lot of issues When it comes to raids. Also, there is plenty of food around.
I hadn’t really considered that locations Can creatures not climb up onto the machine? It definitely sounds interesting and is basically the middle of the map so resources are all around.
@@ChaosBearGaming every once in a while, you’ll get an ant or two. Other than that they don’t really go onto the mysterious machine. I always just build stairs about three stories high and use the scaffold and higher tier walls for protection from collapse.
Building on top of the Brawny Boy Bin keeps everything away in terms of raids. If you turn the sandcastle into a fortress, nothing can get in because of the moat. Just lay the first floor higher up from the ground to keep the antlions from damaging the floor. Another great place is the corner of the porch next to the hedge.
I definitely keep hearing about the Brawny bin. It’s seems to be a community favorite. I didn’t know about the sandcastle though, I will have to check that out. Thanks for sharing that. Also yes that porch is a great spot once you get some good zip lines set up 😀
So this was my 2nd best base video. I made a 3rd one with 15 more locations and I feature that milk molar container in that video. It’s definitely a great spot. thanks for sharing that 😀
I have my whole storage system part of my base in the glitched spot in the hedge it’s impossible to get raided inside and it has the most amount of room if u want a Secure base the only problem is it’s hard to get too and not very new player friendly to get to , but a goated place for a raid proof mega base (its helpful if u have teleports but not impossible). Oh and as a cool side note u can see the broodmother lair from the other side of it meaning u can make a base on top of the brood lair I have never done it but could be fun
I’ve definitely seen that base online, but I’ve never tried building there. That’s crazy you can build directly above her lair 😂 i am sure it’s got the best raid security by far lol. I’ve definitely seen people get stuck in there lol. Which is why I think the teleporter makes sense.
Yes that one’s awesome. That one is already recorded for my next best base location video. Just currently working on a grounded 100 days video first then will be working on getting out that next video 😀 definitely a great spot, thanks for bringing it up.
My question is. For the first base on the flower bed, how would it hold up in the late game after you get access to the Brawny Boy Bin with the wasps having a spawn there?
It does not. That was poor planning on my part. If you want to do a light build like this, look for the light in the upper yard that’s just above the huge rock wall. The one that has a moth on top. That one will be safe, it’s a little harder to get to, but it’s a much better option 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming You did, and i was looking for a more spacious option but i guess that's the only one that is completely immune. I was also thinking it wasn't totally immune due to some flaw i was initially missing but seeing you confirm it made me happy. I've been looking for a new spot to move to ever since a wolf spider visited me on the lilypads.
@@ChaosBearGaming Also, another spot worth noting might be the castle at the picknick table. As long as you roof and wall it off the bees should leave it alone and the ground floor is essentially immune to ground raids if they do occur since the castle itself is part of the map. It's very spacious, looks very nice, and is also high up meaning ziplines are probably not too hard to setup from there. There is a constant supply of free spawning food and fertilizer as well as 2 drops of juice a day, wood chips, rust, and salt as well. Also, it's one of the few places that wolf spiders will never path too i've noticed by tracking them with the scanner. The major downside will be the difficulty of getting enough resources up there to build a nice base and also pissing off the bees, and lastly it not being totally immune to ground attack as there is a VERY tiny opening in the front. I don't think large bugs will be able to get in, but that will need to be tested, but it is definately a choke point to aid with defenses. Setting up 2 rows of palisades should be plenty of defense for this sole ground weak point. If you go new game plus, or unleash the infection then it is also worth noting this base is fairly vulnerable to explosive attacks such as the IWS's explosive shot. You'll want to reinforce the walls especially if you go into new game plus and start seeing infused enemies as well. I think it is good for consideration as a end game main base.
@@oceanbytez847 I’ll definitely need to check that out. Someone else mentioned the castle at the table to me as well. Without all the details of the defenses, but it definitely seems like multiple people think it could be a solid spot. I appreciate you bringing that.
I built my base inside the can in the centre of the map thinking it was safe because nothing could penetrate the can... but my first night a wolf spider agro'd on me and glitched inside the can and killed me, couldnt get back in because the spider couldnt glitch back out
Yeah that’s the handy gnat. You have them available to use in creative mode and playground mode from the start. In survival you unlock them once you beat the game, and then can use them in new game plus 😀
@@th3fr3nchon33yeah at the very end once you complete the game, you will become tall again, but then you can go back into the yard at the spot right before you activated the last cut scene/last event and then find the secret lab that lets you choose to leave your current world behind and go into new game+. You keep all your weapons, gear, and even bases stay. But the story/mission progress resets and the enemies get new abilities and some spawns can be different. I don’t want to say too much more because I don’t want to ruin anything for you, if you haven’t got that far yet.
@ChaosBearG we can craft the enlargement serum but we havent beaten any optionnal boss yet, we made friend with the red ant queen tho and also there is thoses blue mushroom that start appearing in the big tree and red ant colony is there a way to get rid of it ?
@@th3fr3nchon33 there is not, that’s the haze, which you needed to unplug to get certain new variations of creatures to spawn and a new boss is now somewhere on the map. And it made the bur stems spawn as well around the map. A new build able material
Oh that’s a great call out. I thought they were across the water. Thank you for sharing that. I’ll Make sure to trigger the few events that take place to ensure I can see those for next base video.
Definitely the baseball as a starter base. I have another grounded base video on the channel. It’s got 15 more locations on it. I would see if any of those stand out to you. There is also a few great early game spots in that video as well 😀
When I made this I hadn’t considered the late game altercations, as I was making it while not having done anything in the world. I would say this base 1 is not ideal. If you want a lamp post, there is 1 in the upper yard, just past the big rocks wall, that has a month of top of it. That one would be significantly better.
Thank you for pointing that out-I believe you’re the second person to mention it. I must admit, it’s a bit embarrassing. I assure you that I can write and speak well, but it seems that double-checking my work or addressing pronunciations when editing hasn’t been my strongest suit. I’ll make an effort to fix that. Also glad you enjoyed it 😀
You place a pallet just outside on the ground and it will be close enough that you can pull for it to Build a ramp and a few ceilings inside. If you want to use stems and planks that it is. You can also build the pieces outside then re locate them to inside. It’s a little tedious but it should work. I’m you’re using things like mushrooms then they can either just be in your inventory or you can relocate a chest inside onto a pre existing ceiling. Then just build by pulling from the chest.
That base location is on the bottom right of the shed area. You will see the brawny bin to your right. It’s fairly close to the Jamatic. It was supposed to be a longer video with 10 more base locations but I ran out of time. But I usually make thumbnails before I start the editing process. I will be making another base video where it’s included in the future, just currently working through a few other projects first.
In order to build into a structure you first build normally and then as you get a piece that’s going into a structure you can either: A rotate that piece a few times and it will turn from being red to blue indicating that you can place it. Or B: you can look away with the building piece out, basically you act like you placing it elsewhere then redrag into back into the original position. At this point it should turn blue and allow you to place it. I know that sounds a little confusing, but it’s super simple. I have a video in my Grounded playlist titled: “Grounded Base Building Tips, 10 Pro Tips”. I have each tip labeled so it’s easy to follow. Tip 3 will show you exactly what I am referring to how to build into structures 😀
I built my first base on the stumps near the can under the tree!!! It was super sucker but me and my friend had ant eggs in one of our chest, so we went to sleep and they hatched!!! We hit them to kill them but we couldn’t hit them, they were in an awkward position to hit them!! We hit our walls on accident and the whole base broke!! 😂😂😂 we just reloaded the save file!!
Oh my godsh that’s insanely bad luck, but also kind of funny. We all have those moments where we question whether our actions were a good choice lol. Glad you could reload the save 😀😂
@@ChaosBearGaming that’s crazy and would be a cool base idea!!! Also, whenever me and my friend were playing, we had just finished knocking down the wasps nest so that we can get into the browny boy bin once we went to sleep the cut scene played and after we had beat the wasp queen we went back to base we heard the sirens ring, and a raid started. It was a raid of wasp. Our base got destroyed so we decided to build a tree fort instead.
@@CalebEdenfield yeah someone else mentioned to make a base video in an end game playthrough because those wasps pop up and ruin a whole lot of babes lol
@@Special_gamer2007 honestly it’s been a few months since I made this video so I am not sure. But also for speed boost you can look to get the trinket from aphids. You basically just need to keep killing aphids with either the sticky fingers trinket equipped or the rascal rogue mutation and it will give you another 10% move speed bonus.
So originally it was supposed to be a top 20 best base locations, but due to other obligations that took up my time, I didn’t have enough time to make the video that big, so I cut the video in half. That location was in the second half of the video. But I typically always make my thumbnails before I make my video, so that’s why it wasn’t included. So the next video will include it. But basically go to the Brawny Bin, then to the far right, on the side of it you will find an elevated area with that research station. I built up walls all around the edges because there is a wolf spider that patrols there at night. But being elevated up high and with the walls it never bothers me. You have quite a bit of space to work with if you block off enough of an area 😀
I remember my first home, inside one of the soda cans, thinking the metal would work as a good basic wall, only needing a gate to keep shut. It worked well, except I had a ton of spiders patroling around it, both night and day, plus it was actually possible for the wolf spider to glitch through the metal roof, which broke a lot 😂
Yeah, they can indeed be somewhat fragile. That's why I find the one in the water to be particularly effective, as spiders are unable to enter the water, and the milk molar container offers more durability compared to the cans. However, in my opinion, the sewer location remains the most reliable option.
So, you're in creative mode.... And you have 'structural integrity' turned off, which I assume is part of creative mode. Which means it's, literally, IMPOSSIBLE to build bases like that because the physics of the world in Grounded will not let you just build whatever you want.
Structural integrity doesn’t exist in grounded even in survival mode. You only have to have 1 point on the ground (or stuck into an object). Then you can build bridges, bases, etc…as big as you want. The only downside would be if you accidentally pick up that one support or if a bug breaks it then everything will fall. So it’s best make multiple supports, to avoid that form happening, like during a raid. Grounded isn’t like games such as Ark or Palworld where you can only Build a few ceilings without support. You can build as far and as high as you want, the only requirement you need is 1 support 😀 you can turn on building integrity, but it’s off by default.
@@ChaosBearGaming Then why is it a setting? I just tested it. You cannot just build an infinite staircase without support that reaches the ground under each set of stairs. You also cannot build a platform that just extends out from a wall. There is, literally, a weed stem brace for the specific purpose of supporting that type of platform/floor. Maybe you're using a different version. But, in my version physics and building integrity are definitely a thing.
@@kennyrosenycthere are pillars in the game, but if you look at any grounded build they are almost always used as aesthetics and not as actual support. Unless you are just building off the ground to get away from the bugs on the ground. I just booted up grounded and selected a new game on woah mode and by default building integrity is turned off. All I needed was 1 structural support. You can even check the modes settings prior to launching your game to validate the slider is turned to the left to indicate it’s turned off. They added it as a setting to help things be slightly “more realistic”, but honestly the setting doesn’t work great and becomes a bit of a hassle. And I don’t say that because it makes the game more challenging, it’s just that setting isn’t implemented well for grounded. Building/structural support is great in a lot of games, just not grounded. If you want to get some others opinions on the setting I would recommend making a post on the r/groundedgame Reddit page. I usually wouldn’t recommend people to Reddit, as I know it can typically be a nightmare on some threads. But I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever seen a negative post on that thread. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, but the grounded community is one of the friendliest gaming communities you will find. If you want a 2nd opinion I am sure people would love to help and chime in 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming I'm not talking about pillars. There are actual supports that angle in towards the wall the way you would have to have them in the real world if you built, say, a balcony or any type of floor that extrudes outside of a structure. You don't need them for floors, but you need them if you're building something that's external.
@@kennyrosenyc yeah there is quite a few different building parts that can be used like you’re mentioning, but none of them are required. The game really gives the freedom on how you choose to build and puts “real life/building integrity” to the side 😀

I actually was wondering about the pipe. The reason being is it is probably the only place in game that is immune to both ground and air insects.
I believe I included that on the list 😀 or did you mean somewhere else? yeah it’s immune to raids.
@@oceanbytez847 I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled for any other bases like that 😀
@@oceanbytez847 I’ll definitely need to check that out. Someone else mentioned the castle at the table to me as well. Without all the details of the defenses, but it definitely seems like multiple people think it could be a solid spot. I appreciate you bringing that.
Number 1 is literally my first ever grounded house (coincidentally)
That’s awesome 😂 it’s a spot that calls builders lol
that can base is realy neat
Glad that you liked it 😀
Below the picnic bench is the best place to build but not inside the bottle just up the hill near that container.
That’s definitely a great spot. They’re so many resources nearby.
@ChaosBearGaming yes especially stem and bees and apples. Build all the way to the top to get to the picnic table.
@AshUkihime that’s definitely the best place for stems for sure. You can also blow up the rock below the shovel to get to the picnic table 😀
My first house was around spawn, then I built a castle on the picnic table.
Those are both solid options. Thanks for sharing that.
#1 oak tree base, with ziplines in every directions
Yeah the oak tree is definitely hard to beat for sure. That central location and being elevated helps a ton.
I built my base inside the can in the centre of the map thinking it was safe because nothing could penetrate the can... but my first night a wolf spider agro'd on me and glitched inside the can and killed me, couldnt get back in because the spider couldnt glitch back out
Those darn spiders always find a way into things, they can be pretty scary and annoying early. Then they just get stuck lol
There’s also the big rock next to the red ant hill
That’s true. That’s where I built my very first base.
9:50 is that a regular fly companion ?
Yeah that’s the handy gnat. You have them available to use in creative mode and playground mode from the start. In survival you unlock them once you beat the game, and then can use them in new game plus 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming OK beat the game you mean becoming tall again ?
Do you base tours of player builds in grounded?
I have not. That sounds fun though 😀
First location will be a problem when you unlock the waps. They have a nest on that first rosebush.
Oh that’s a great call out. I thought they were across the water. Thank you for sharing that. I’ll Make sure to trigger the few events that take place to ensure I can see those for next base video.
Which of these locations would be best for my first base?
Definitely the baseball as a starter base. I have another grounded base video on the channel. It’s got 15 more locations on it. I would see if any of those stand out to you. There is also a few great early game spots in that video as well 😀
@@ChaosBearGaming okay thanks! I’ll check it out soon!
Base 1 is right near wasp spawn, this not cause issues?
When I made this I hadn’t considered the late game altercations, as I was making it while not having done anything in the world. I would say this base 1 is not ideal. If you want a lamp post, there is 1 in the upper yard, just past the big rocks wall, that has a month of top of it. That one would be significantly better.
@@ChaosBearGaming thanks! Yeah, I always forget about those pesky wasps with my early game builds 😭
@ they are my least favorite bugs to fight 😂 those darn heals lol
nice
Thank you 😀
Good video but there is no X in especially
Thank you for pointing that out-I believe you’re the second person to mention it. I must admit, it’s a bit embarrassing. I assure you that I can write and speak well, but it seems that double-checking my work or addressing pronunciations when editing hasn’t been my strongest suit. I’ll make an effort to fix that. Also glad you enjoyed it 😀
For base 3 how do you get all the resources in there you drop everything ur holding when entering water
You place a pallet just outside on the ground and it will be close enough that you can pull for it to
Build a ramp and a few ceilings inside.
@@ChaosBearGaming thanks so much I’ll try that
@@calebwasylyniuk1431yeah of course. I hope it helps.
@@ChaosBearGaming it was a little finicky but it worked
Where is the thumbnail built? It looks like a good place to build
@@ChaosBearGaming Thanks 🙏 I was wondering why it was so flat area near the station.
@@dawidramqvist232 yeah flat spaces with stations are not always easy to find, they’re definitely all worth checking out 😀
How do you get the game to let you build flooring inside a structure like that??
@ChaosBearGaming thank you!
@@viceroth7191 yeah of course 😀
That sewer one is amazing.
Thank you very much. I am glad you liked it 😀
I agree! But can you actually get grass or weeds to it? You drop anything you’re carrying if the water is too deep?
Relocate a stem or plank pallet to get under with stems/planks
@@teyteytho2857looks like the commenter below beat me to it. Just relocate your pallets inside as soon as you have the entrance built.
@@AnimatedLemurthanks for helping them out and beating me to It.Had been quite busy working on a different video lol.
@@ChaosBearGaming I was too 😂 it was a 2 story base!!
@@CalebEdenfield I have seen people build some crazy detailed bases in those cans 😂
Not mentioning the oak tree was a crime
This was the 2nd best base video I made. The oak tree was featured in the 1st video. I have 3 best base videos total 😀
@ oh my bad
@@Catenjoyer559 no problem at all, it’s understandable you want to make sure 1 of the the best bases in the game was included 😀
Can someone tell me what he’s using to be that fast
Aphid slippers & natural explorer level 3 😀
@ oh ok thanks
@ can u tell me all your mutation active on the A slot
@@Special_gamer2007 honestly it’s been a few months since I made this video so I am not sure. But also for speed boost you can look to get the trinket from aphids. You basically just need to keep killing aphids with either the sticky fingers trinket equipped or the rascal rogue mutation and it will give you another 10% move speed bonus.
@@ChaosBearGaming ok thanks 😁
Where is the one in the thumbnail
However, in my opinion, the sewer location remains the most reliable option.
hunt for food??? i just reset fr
that’s totally fair, just unequip the armor to save on the durability 😂
The game really gives the freedom on how you choose to build and puts “real life/building integrity” to the side 😀
actually
(sorry 😅)
