I hope no one's suggesting the NPL clubs are stronger than the A-League clubs. The competition's set up to help the NPL clubs advance in the competition, so the term "cupset" seems kinda silly to me. Interesting little sidelight is that Spirit are programmed to play the rest of their cup games at home except the final, should they make it that far.
It sucks b@ll$ however that if a non-AL side wins the whole thing, they won’t qualify for Asian competition bc of the AFC’s dud ‘licensing’ rules. It’s BS as UEFA by contrast has no such requirements for its continental competitions.
