Frank Lowy who was the president of Sydney City withdrew the team at the beginning of 1987 because he did not like how the ASF was running the NSL. This would be a good video to do. Keep it up.
Cool video! Would’ve also loved to hear about a key player or two per club and maybe some notable members of the board/ownership/management/coaching or something. Obvious one would be Ange for South Melbourne etc.
Excellent video on the founding clubs, now i recon would be great to see another video on the other 29 clubs that joined the NSL in 1978 or after. Cheers
@@kotchstevens2321 the now-defunct clubs from the ‘80s in particular, since I’d say most of us are familiar w/the ones from the ‘90s/final few years of the NSL
West Adelaide tried to build a new stadium in the early 2010’s in Kilburn but it was never finished. The half built stadium now just sits there as a bit of an eyesore
Not really relevant to this video but As a NZer who is born & bred in Auckland I love we've got a new A League side hopefully our efforts are better than the past 2 teams
Doing well until your anti SMFC sentiments came out... take it as a compliment... funny when you consider SMFC has a rivalry with most most AL clubs - yet, have never faced off... you know what we know - no AL club has a claim to our crown...
Nice video. Sth Melbourne were awarded the Oceania Team of the century based on statistics on domestic competitions for oceania as opposed to intercontinental club competitions for other confederations. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFFHS
Mooroolbark Soccer Club and the NSL is my favorite all-time Australian football story, I played at Mooroolbark and had no idea until years later.

South Melbourne Hellas 💙🤍 From Middle Park to the Maracana

Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
South Melbourne still has more fans than Western United and Melbourne City.

Haven’t they built a new stadium now?

If you watch NPL1 in Sydney or Melbourne it is basically the same as the old NSL, I don't bother with the other states.
Heidelberg United won the 1980 NSL Grand Final.
Heidelberg Utd won the grand final but it didn’t determine the champion.
You must be from Sydney
What ever happened to Apia Leichhardt?
Played NSL between 1979 to 1992. Now in NSW NPL. Foundation National Second Tier club
The just won the NSW division 1 title(now called NPL 1). Basically just under A-League.

It was clearly a joke 😂😂 Don’t read too much into it

Pretty sure Sydney FC have a claim to that crown with 5 Australian championships as well as a OFC Champions League
@@SmilesMKDCentral Coast have the treble.
@@havanadaurcy1321 And Wanderers have the AFC Champions League
There are 3 teams that all have a better claim to the "crown" of Australian Football
