I can not tell a lie. The dumbest thing I ever did: my partner jumped back on the boat after we got the boat on the trailer. Sometimes my job was to drive the boat onto the trailer. This day, my job was to get in the truck and pull the boat out of the water. Easy, right? Done it 100s of times. I thought the engine was running...you get the picture...I released the parking brake, put the truck in drive, and of course, the truck slipped farther back in the water. Only about 1 foot or so, luckily. A guy on the dock reached across me and turned the ignition on. I pulled the boat out. I was so f-ing embarrassed I couldn't hold my head up the rest of the day.
No, the reverse lights were off when he got out. My guess is he failed to set the parking brake. Putting it in park only locks the transmission. If one wheel is on slippery surface it will rotate forwards as the other wheel rolls back. (Might be nice to have four wheel parking brakes.)

Truck was NOT in reverse. 803 you see the reverse lights go out and you see as he takes his foot off the brake, the bump of the truck - caused by the parking pin in the transmission. Either the parking brake was not on all the way or wasnt set. Either way, the truck was clearly holding. Then, started sliding back. If the truck was not in park, it would have immediately started rolling backwards when the guy got out of the truck.
That guy put his truck in Reverse instead of Park, you can see the white reverse lights came on. How do you not know the difference between park and reverse? Maybe a little alcohol involved?
The guy who almost launched his truck was at fault he thru the truck in reverse instead of in park & as soon as his foot came off of the brake pedal to jump out well you see what came next. 1. never trust the parking paw in auto transmissions. 2. use the e brake. 3. in this situation if you have to get out of the truck the best thing you can do is use a tool to hold the brake pedal down with the back of the steering wheel. A manual hood prop works well for this or even a stick of wood like a 1x2 the right length will work.
One of the biggest issues a lot of these skippers have is the crew moving around the boat… When you have a deep V and especially a single engine, you can lose all steering and control as soon as you change weight distribution. As a skipper you must tell your crew or passengers to not move until you berth alongside and then you can secure your lines.
Can happen to anyone in a heartbeat. He made a great save. Almost happened to me this weekend. Extremely low tide and at the end of the ramp there is a huge dropoff. If you're truck isn't high enough and you go over the edge your trailer will slam on the concrete and damage it/possibly get stuck. Not to mention how slippery it was at low tide. We had to stop the trailer just as it was hanging over the edge to get the motor in the water and power/rock it off. When i stopped it on the edge and put on the brake it was still slipping. Had to chock it and switch with my dad into the truck without letting off the brake so i could power it off before things got worse. There was no way we were pulling the boat back out of that position without getting towed out.
I'm glad you're not one to roast that guy because like you said it could happen to anyone. If you haven't had any kind of close calls on the water or ramps.... lol just give it time. Glad to see he had lots of nice ppl to help

Wow that was crazy thanks for info
Good advice ❤
Rabirubia is Yellowtail Snapper
Put the truck in 4 wheel low will help hold all wheels from slipping. that was a $65,000 save.

Front wheel chocks is a good idea. It is good to have an assistant (copilot?) to help.
It's a shame "subtitles/closed captioning" (translate) doesn't work, I'd like to know what's being said? ;-)
awesome as always!
Wow he dukes a hazard his truck!odd way of getting him out tho. Swear the guys behind were oblivious

Floridiots in boats are hilarious
I pull my 24ft with my Escalade and i love how as soon the car detects slope it activates ebrake automatically, that was a good save tho 👏🏻👏🏻

The 2 girls immediately turned around and looked at the camera "omg..we are going to be on the chit show"
You missed the blue 27' Wellcraft at 4:18 with triple 350s getting pulled out dang wanted to see that.
Jfyi ebrake locks rear only 😂

Not sure why folks don't use chalk blocks. Inconvenient, but worth the safety.
Don't pull another vehicle with a hitch. It could fail and then sending pieces flying. Use a straight connector.
All of the comments are arguing about 2 different things. The reverse truck is @ 0:59 and the title of the video is @ 8:11. And a nice view is @ 6:44
