RAW: Lafayette native Mondo Duplantis goes for second gold medal during Summer Olympics in Paris

As the Olympic competition begins, one Lafayette native is looking to make history. Former Lafayette High pole vaulting star Mondo Duplantis is searching for a winning, record-tying second Olympic gold medal. He granted News 15's Jeff Horchak an exclusive interview.

He’s with Sweden why should we care?

He was born and raised in Louisiana and also went to university there. His mother was from Sweden and had an opportunities for himself and his father & get sponsorship. He could have gone to a different city or state than the one he was born in - with professional athletes playing for different teams in different cities and in different states or even countries like Canada.

@@starofdabloc he a 2 times Olympic gold medalist, as well as 2 times World Champion (2 separate years from the Olympics) and broke the world record numerous times for pole vault. But you just want to be petty because he didn’t compete on the American team.
