An expansive and clarifying conversation from content creators I enjoy. Appreciative of all of your overarching work Dan, Forrest, and Dr. Rick Hanson.
Being fully enlightened and losing your temper are not mutually exclusive. O, Rick is just saying something similar! I think we often attach too much to the IDEA of what enlightenment should be looking like. I love Rick's observation of noticing a fear of fieriness, while we need that fire, especially right now!
I love Dan Harris’ approach to presenting/discussing mindfulness meditation (as both a formal and life practice, way of being)-unpretentious/honest, accessible/understandable, humorous. He’s right about the “PR problem”-we need more people like him spreading the word, so to speak, so that more people will give it a chance to see/experience what a difference it can make in their lives. Likely more than one reason he talks about “10% improvement” (humor, manage expectations, attract people who are tired of overselling purveyors of self-help books), but, for me, it has meant at least 65% improvement of my life. 🙂
I've just found your podcast and i love it so much! You two have a great relationship and these talks are DEEP. I also love Dan Harris so this is awesome!
I listened in audio only, but just wanted to say, what a great, funny man! As are you two. I have, just like Dan, “found it”, thought it could never go away, and then “lost it”. I’m putting it in brackets since I don’t think…well I think I more found it actually than lost it - I don’t think it’s really lost, I just have to go back to basics. Hard enough and frustrating when it’s like; I knew deep down what real acceptance and letting go was, now I can’t seem to access it. Thank you!
This was engaging to listen to thx for having Dan on i like he brought up his grandfathers and inter generational trauma we all have in our DNA as i heard said by a meditation teacher : never underestimate the power of your conditioning ❤
This hit me when Dan said, "If you want to move forward, you can't move forward". You must surrender to now/here. Rick & Forrest's questions were fantastic. I wonder if Dan has ever seen Eckhart Tolle lose his temper - Eckhart seems detached to an extreme.
Everything that is human should belong to humans, not to a particular culture (or view of it). Having been raised in a high-stressful household, I've been "meditating" since childhood, without knowing I'm meditating. Putting words to experiences is nice and useful, but these experiences do not solely belong to a group of people. Buddhism in itself would never dream of being a closed culture.
Interesting 🤔 never considerate for romance wait .. I think it was down to be but ineffective cuz it was tied to someone who didn’t feel the same after all :/
I listened to the first 30 minutes and this guy said absolutely nothing of any substance so i quit. Thanks for the talk nevertheless. I do wonder lately about the dissonance between so called mindfulness and the brutal, competitive society and mindset we westerners share, but im still as confused as I was before listening!😅
Love Dan Harris - now there are three people on the show that I appreciate, respect and love! You two and Dan!

Neither 'enlightment' or 'secure attachment' is a static setting

Great conversation! The production on the podcast is masterfully done, and you both ask great questions. Thanks so much for making these
I'm going through a lil' something atm, so this is a good time to watch this.
Love the Ten % app and pod casts.

I loved this talk! It’s so important to experience both sides, the spiritual and the shadow and embrace them both! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thanks. Nice to hear IFS (Internal Family Systems) mentioned here.
Mmm.. omnidirectional, good word ❤

What's the difference between letting go and abandoning yourself?
Envagel is my new favorite word.

Try hypnotherapy for claustrophobia or fear of flight.. it's very effective way to work with any kind of phobia ;)

Btw, even Jesus lost his temper. This is a semi-crazy idea to never lose one's temper. It's about the flavour of rage, tho'.
'Promosm' 🤭
