Excellent, clear explanation all the way through. One thought: The front cell-box retention plate could be fitted with longer bolts, compression springs, and appropriately sized washers to apply a fairly constant retention force on the cell stacks while allowing movement for thermal cycling.
Excellent review and assembly process.
I have a seplos 304AH kit, and wheel it around on a cheap furniture dolly. Works fine.
I built the same kit from a different company 230Ah. I lifted it from the ground to the back of my truck and back off again. Yes, It is very heavy!
Which brand did you get? This is in my basement and there's no way in heck I'm getting that up the stairs. Going to have to disassemble to move it.
@@LithiumSolar Seplos was the brand. Very similar but they had neoprene foam in between the cells and not the resin board which I prefer.
Good video, thanks. I think this type of system is a good balance between full DIY and full plug and play battery system. I saw another brand of these boxes where you assembled all of the components into the box yourself, this one was sort of cool in that it was pre assembled.
Great video, and almost exactly what I need. I've got a set of Basen 272 ah cells that need a home. I think they will fit into similar kits designed for the 280 ah cells.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
You got me thinking. Thumbs up 👍
I would think you could easily add a circuit breaker. I would add one and perhaps a class T fuse, but I am a belt and suspenders type. Good review BTW.
Great option for diy
Great Video!
Nice! DIY rules! thanks!
At the end, you have the case on its side. Would it be safe to leave them that way? I am figuring the best non-rack mount for a new power house and 6-8 on their side, space wise makes sense in my mind for a few reasons. Nice build and seems complete. I agree about wishing it had a breaker. Final decisions really comes down to the BMS. Curious for an update on the BMS and/or performance.
No, I would definitely not use it in any orientation other than flat. I just stood it on the side for videoing.
Thanks for the info on this one. Does this BMS ( not sure of model ) have Absorbtion and Float settings ? Most don't but it's crucial imho.
Absorption and float are charge settings, those would be programmed in your charge controller, not the BMS.
@@LithiumSolar
Thanks. Doesn't absorption within the BMS help with balancing though. Would be nice to know what that BMS is, I am looking at these racks at present and am a PACE BMS fan.
nice video~
I am in the market for a 24v 300ah lifepo4 battery actually I need 2. Do you have a favorite? I’m looking to spend around 1500 per battery. Thank you.
Long time no see
Varee Naess❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is it possible to have a 24v version of this battery built into this case??
You could wire the battery for 24V if you wanted, but you would not be able to use the included BMS and you would need to make some custom wiring.
Is a fuse or circuit breaker necessary? Can i install a circuit breaker outside the box?
No, it's not necessary that it be built in to the case. You can add one externally if you'd like and should be wiring it in compliance with local electrical codes and common safety procedures.
The Full_Batt_Cap setting is still 230Ah. You have to adjust that to 300Ah
This is a 230Ah battery, curious why you would recommend setting it to 300Ah? Is that just a starting point before it calibrates?
@@LithiumSolar Sorry, I thought you said it was a 300Ah battery
@@lecramred4453 Oh no, sorry. They do have a bigger version for the 280/310Ah cells though!
@@LithiumSolar Yes, I have 5 of those
😄😄😄 muito top show
Can the box be placed vertically?
The manufacturer does not define acceptable orientations. Personally, I would not place it any orientation other than flat as it's designed.
Where can i find this program to BMS??
There's a software download tab on the instructions page

What do you call those yellow sheets?
Fiberglass/epoxy sheets

Nice video,we also want to showcase our products through your video, is that okay?
Please contact me through the email address found in the video description.
@@LithiumSolar Hello, an email has been sent to you, please check it.
hey can u provide me that BMS Software
You can download it free on their website

@@LithiumSolar Thanks
BMS is very close to a JBD.
I don't think it looks anything like a JBD. Is there a particular model/version you're thinking of that I can check?
@@LithiumSolar Obviously, they have their own firmware looking at it when you connected via PC.

2:45 not JK... too bad :(
Too bad? That's a good thing... lol
I really like the jk bms's
Jk is the only BMS that I have seen blow FETs when shut off under load.
@@john_in_phoenixInteresting do you have a reference / link or context?
200 lbs isnt bad at all for 2 guys
Maybe not, but I don't exactly spend much time at the gym... lol
you forgot the most important thing:
is the BMS able to balance the cells
Of course it is. I discussed the programmed BMS settings in the PC Software section of the video.
@@LithiumSolar
you did not really try it out.
i did not mean whether it is balancing or not. what i think is important whether or not the BMS is capable of balancing dells. some of the balancers can't do it, unless the cells are brand new and already balanced before built in.
@@ursodermatt8809 I see what you're getting at. I don't have an exact specification for this BMS, but they're typically 30-60mA. That is more than capable of keeping a 230Ah battery in balance. The instructions specifically state that you should have them balanced prior to assembly. This is true for practically every single battery, not just this particular case. If you have a cell that's self-discharging faster than the others, and so fast that the BMS cannot keep up, then that cell is faulty and should be replaced. Again, this is true with pretty much any battery out there.
@@LithiumSolar
so, personally, i would not trust that balancer. that might work when the cells are brandnew but a few years down the road ....... and also notice when the battery can't be balanced for a few weeks because of cloudy weather, i don't think the 30-60mA will cut it.
@@ursodermatt8809 This is one of the better brands of balancers out there. Quite honestly, it sounds like you have a turd and are blaming the balancer for your turd not being balanced. The 30-60mA is pretty standard, and for good reason.
Is a fuse or circuit breaker necessary? Can i install a circuit breaker outside the box?
No, it's not necessary that it be built in to the case. You can add one externally if you'd like and should be wiring it in compliance with local electrical codes and common safety procedures.
