I seldom use the word 'lovely' but this ukulele is gorgeous! Aside from its music making capacity, it would be a piece of fine art for the home. Love the sound. I lean to the brighter side. No doubt, Flight is 'making waves' in the ukulele community.
This is spectacular! I also love the creativity that went into the headstock design, with those asymmetrical slots and the "bitten-off" look on one side.
A lot of ebony trees are wasted in search of jet black. I think we have to get over that. Besides streaked ebony is no less hard or dense and performs equally . . . and has a beauty all its own. IMHO
Wow wow wow!!! BAZ was gushing about This one! I would love to see the other one. So no concerts or sopranos eh? Man, a soprano tricked out like that would be a real gem! 💎 (Literally!)
Wow! Simply stunning on looks, sound and price! It is so beautiful and sounds brilliant. Now, to me, if I am going to pay 1100 for a ukulele, I want something like this. A limited production, conversation starter, not the same uke that hundreds of others have in their collection. Thanks, Baz!
Did you have to send it back? Flight a good honest brand, this one top of the tree in so many wow ways, naturally I've got 3, 2 for the grandchildren to practice on...
Congratulations in having the first play (as far as I've seen) on those festive ukeleles! Nice to hear a great maple instrument, Looking forward to the other X'es
Don't think I have a favourite as such, but I'm quite traditional. For sopranos I always stick to mahogany. Bigger ukes, hard to beat Koa. I wouldn't have a maple uke myself for same reason I don't like spruce on ukes - too crisp for my ears and prefer woody tones, but... each to their own!
I absolutely love the looks and build of this blue Ukulele. The sound is crisp and very nice. Almost to jingly on the edge for my ear, but all in all I love it! As always thanks I enjoyed the review.... me DOC
A thing of incredible beauty! You could NOT leave that on a hook and not pick it up, to play it, EVERY time you walked past. I would love to see a soprano version of this. Can you imagine? 🤤
It's a funny thing that you referred to this ukulele as sounding "like a bell". When I was just a young boy in the 1970s and playing the 4 string banjo, the old timers who mentored me, with their pre-war tenor and plectrum banjos from the 1920s Jazz Era, would frequently refer to the models made with tiger-striped maple resonators as sounding like a ringing bell (since we are Yanks it was known to us as tiger-striped maple rather than quilted maple). Seems that maple does lend that bell-like tonal quality. Perfect sound for a tenor banjo! For a ukulele, sometimes yes, sometimes no. If nothing else, it's an arrow in the player's quiver.
@@GotAUkulele I prefer that to the blue fade one. Can always tell you love an instrument when you play extra pieces on it. I bet this is added to your list of ukes you don't want to send back!
I LOVE the faded blue one they have and would buy it in a minute if I had the money and the skill to do it justice. As I beginner, I'd feel bad owning something that nice.
Absolutely stunning! Honestly, I keep coming back to watch your review of this!!! I only wish I could afford one. Flight are an amazing brand. I have one of their cheaper Gemstone Ukes and honestly, it's one of my favs and my goodness it packs a punch on sound. Wonderful review Baz! Thanks for sharing with us as always.
Gorgeous Ukulele and Awesome tone, it really does sound like there’s more than 4 strings. They must have spent a lot of time on dressing those frets like that!
@@yvesb3426 Ah yes - forgot that - they sent that me on loan too, but never reviewed it. Never review more than one in an article. Sorry - didn't play it
I reconsidered my view on those after the review - lot of ebony is cut and wasted trying to get fully dark wood. Less wasteful of resources to use all ebony. Taylor guitars now making a thing out of using striped ebony for that reason. Of course neither are any different when it comes to playing
Damn! I have found one of these in a butique here in Denmark for £814 and am seriously tempted. A real stunner! That's a good price concidering we have 25% VAT here. I can see you also had the a10 spruce/Cocobolo beside you, do you remember if you had any thoughts about that one? I can also buy that one for £814, and it has the Lublijana logo inlay, and the 'X', BUT the neck on the blue quilted maple looks amazing .... and a comfort edge. A real looker with the 'blue ripple' I don't have a chance to try before buying, so I would appreciate a quick nod, or any reason why I should maybe go with the Spruce/Cocobolo model instead. I won't hold you responsible no matter what. Yours Barry Nielsen
@@GotAUkulele - I guess I was vague. I meant since I thought you said you prefer a little more mellow, for this model would you keep the high G since it sounds good or do you think it would sound equally good with a low G?
Well yes I do, but i don't find most tenors have an issue on that front with the bigger body. My main tenor is a Koa Kanile'a and that is as woody and warm as it gets!
That comfort edge looks a million times better than last week's Barnes and Mullins. While I'm curious to find out what next week's much cheaper instrument will be.
Goodbye Dave - never do these as adverts - never have, never will. It's just a stellar ukulele. Your suggestion means that it would impossible to say something positive about a great ukulele as you'd call it an 'advert'..
Not sure if you have been watching more reviews of Baz, but there always top notch, if it sounds like an ad, it must be a great instrument. I now do want one 👍🏻 I have ears and eyes. This is a stunner. Great review!
Dave here has previous on this channel and also on other channels too (and pokey emails). Seems to like being objectionable without backup. He won’t be posting on this channel again.
Seems like Dave doesn’t like Quality, and sound . So if Berry says goodbye 👋, it must be a great instrument!!! And this guy is a brand type , I’d buy a snail 🐌 if i needed it and it sounds good and holds up! Just off his review shows a lot !!!
Thanks
Thanks so much for that!

If I bought that uke, I'd be afraid to touch it! Beautiful, chimey, handmade.... unique!
You and me both!
This is spectacular! I also love the creativity that went into the headstock design, with those asymmetrical slots and the "bitten-off" look on one side.
Glad you like it!
Thank you for yet another, genuine review.
Blown away by the sound and the impression it gives of more strings. It looks very well crafted.
Thanks!
Wonderfully crafted instrument. The sound is gorgeous, with an elongated sustain. The wood grain is definitely eye catching!
Yep - lovely!

It's stunning! Just tenors at the moment. Not sure what plans are for the series, but Flight will be reading these comments!
GotAUkulele Hey Flight! If you’re reading this! A concert or Soprano would be GREAT!! 😀
10er, think they might be playing word games with the 10 years and the tenor size only

Wow.
And that quilted maple is utterly gorgeous!

I’ve always loved quilted /spalted maple. That blue is stunning. :)
The bridge and binding are nice as well.
Yep, so pretty - looks three dimensional

Very much so!

Yep - think this might be the first review of this one. Alex at SUS did an intro to the other maple one. Very nice ukes
great review! 2 cam setup is looking solid - love it!
Thanks!
Great review as always Baz - thankyou. Hope you can give us a strum on the other version too.
Afraid not - boxed up and going back - they understandably need to sell them!
This is just gorgeous! Wish I could justify owning one. Thanks for sharing.
Yep - lovely uke !
Just spectacular, breath taking!
Really enjoyed this review, take care Baz, cheers

Very good looking instrument, I like the blue waves on the body!

Not a tone I go for either, but I have to be objective / it’s plainly very classy in tone

Beautiful ukulele, like everything about it, way out of my budget, recently bought myself the Flight Sunset Travel Soprano which is great!
Have fun!

Gorgeous Ukulele and Awesome tone, it really does sound like there’s more than 4 strings. They must have spent a lot of time on dressing those frets like that!
Yep - takes ages to make these frets!
Thanks for this review, beautiful uke 🤩
Is it bigger than the royal series?
Did you also review the cocobolo?
Think it's similar size to the royal series - sorry don't know the cocobolo you mean
I thought the spruce top flight anniversary uke sitting next to you on this video was called cocobolo, maybe I got it wrong?

Sorry - didn't have much time at all to play the other one much - so unfair to comment on it. The one I reviewed I loved though!
I want to hear the cocobolo with spruce top. Don't get me wrong I love the blue, but can we hear the comparison?
Afraid not - been sent back to Flight now. I didn't have time with them to do both

Beauty!
What is the name of your test tune that you always play. Sounds 20s..
See links below the video!
@@GotAUkulele Wonderful, thanks.
My goodness, what a beautiful ukulele...what I don't really get is the dragon emblem on the spruce one, imo, that looks awful!
It's the symbol of the city of Ljubljana - the place where Flight are based.

Work of art.
