    I totally agree ! As someone who just deleted her socials and use to be a funeral attendant, I just really want to tell people to LIVE YOUR LIFE ! Don’t worry about what other people are doing or limiting yourself just because you think you don’t have the right ressources. Don’t be afraid to go out there and meet new people that doesn’t think or look like you . Don’t wait for people to live life ! If they cancel , WHO CARES !!! Go out by yourself . Start living this life God died for you to have . Everybody has a purpose in life , take the time to discover who you are . I really am loving this series already

    I'm so happy that there are people who are starting to realize the difference between admiration for someone's work of art and creativity, and just worshipping them for doing nothing that is actually essential for the world. I hope more people realize this soon and just stop giving unnecessary credit to someone only because they are famous. Thanks for sharing your opinion!

    In the Christian world there is A TON of idolizing of worship leaders & pastors. It’s insane. I went to Hillsong college in Australia 2009-2011 and while overall I met great people and learned a lot. There’s a ton of crazy 💩 that goes on. And really it goes for all leaders in the Christian world. I was raised Christian but now I don’t really identify with that. There’s a gross culture imo surrounding Christian leaders/influencers. More people need to talk about this, not just the non Christian idolization. Again all my opinions.

    • @kiaralovely333
      @kiaralovely333 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a dream about this the other night… the only one we need to be idolizing is Christ & we need to try to be more like him.

    • @kiaralovely333
      @kiaralovely333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But the thing about it is, we’re so hooked on what we can see with our physical eyes. People are being captured by the enemy through the lens of beauty, fame, money, fashion, not realizing they are engaging in idolatry on socials & EVEN in Christian ministry. Seek first what? - That’s what we need to be promoting.

    I like how you're voicing out your opinion and your thoughts are valid on this topic. However, some thoughts from me are: what change are you trying to create from this? You don't like what's happening and as an influencer/content creator, how can you create a better impact in today's society? I agree with you that there are some levels of toxicity in today's world -- but then again, we don't know the full story from other people's actions (from the example you shared such as celebrating 500k subscribers, posting images for what seem for likes etc.) -- we don't know the full story and it seems like to me that could come from a judgemental view. Just because someone else's actions do not align with us doesn't mean it's wrong per se. I like your videos and have been watching your videos for a few years now; I think I would love to see how you can create more good, a better impact other than rant in these types of videos.

      @@floridanativelh568 I have 😊 I was a Christian for over a decade. But I think stepping away has made me realize a lot of the harm and trauma these teachings caused. I’m sure a lot of that was the organized religion aspect. It seems like Rene makes her faith her own but since she’s been wanting to get plugged into a church I was curious. I would have been bombarded with judgment if I lived with my boyfriend before marriage cuz it was “sinful” so I’m surprised she doesn’t experience that. Thanks for asking in a kind way ❤️ I actually really admire Rene’s ability to find the good in the Bible I just struggle with that.

    • @alyw4493
      @alyw4493 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think it’s important to remember that all organized religions, political parties, communities… etc experience this because they’re run by people who are HUMAN. We ALL were born sinners and it doesn’t matter how well you know the Bible, we’re still sinners. There was only one who was ever blameless and pure and that was Jesus Christ. I think it’s important to align with Him. Get to know Him. And that’s where you’ll find your peace and be able to see all the good.
      But also remember, the Bible is FULL of men and women who made some pretty big mistakes like deceit, adultry, even MURDER, and God still used those sinners to fulfill His promises. My daughter was born out of wedlock but I already see God working in her life and see how the things I prayed for having manifested even through my mistakes.
      If I can leave you with anything, it’s that God will use everyone. Even selfish celebrities, even unwed mothers, even nasty politicians to fulfill his promises. ♥️

    I completely agree on this!!! It actually gets terrifying when the obsession leads to blind trust by fans. Being in the industry and seeing where some people’s integrity ends, is extremely concerning. Many get this persona they create for their audience and then ego keeps them expecting increasingly better treatment solely for their existence. For many it’s not about the community, it’s about what doors the fan base can open. 🥺

    I 1000% agree with everything that you said. As I'm getting older and approaching my late 20's I've definitely noticed how much I don't care about material objects and popularity. Our society idolizes heavy consumerism and celebrity culture and the older I get the more I see myself straying away from all of that. Everything is always about money and it does make me sad that social media went from being about cultivating community and helping people/sharing information to becoming completely about making money and gaining followers/likes. I don't care about any of that and I believe the pandemic made me feel that way even more so than I already did. It all feels very fake to me and I am so glad I realized that at such an early age. The older I get the more I want to spend as much time with my friends and family, take the time to better myself through healing and educating myself on the world around me, and help people who are struggling in any way that I can. There are so many traumatic things that are happening in the world right now and instead of paying attention to what's actually going wrong I feel like society is trying to cover up what's important by promoting money, popularity, and consumerism. On a brighter note, I do feel like people are slowly waking up to all of this (ever since the pandemic started) so I believe there is hope and that hopefully we'll slowly start to see major changes in our society as a whole going forward.

That is MY responsibility. What I would hate is someone doing that for me. Awareness is really important and a message like this continues to remind me to be discerning. There’s so much focus on the superficial (while putting on an appearance of bettering yourself inwardly), yet never actually going inward & seeking a deeper purpose in life beyond aesthetics. I know ‘religion’ isn’t for everyone, but when a society as a whole detaches / distances itself from our Creator, the result is never good.😞

    Edit: I think our society has a HUGE identity issue. I think the reason WHY people seek “attention” in any form is because they’re afraid to sit with themselves and figure out who they are, exploring what they like and learning. It’s easy to follow everyone else but much more difficult to follow the “trends”.

    Renee, so glad you are going through this journey! I love your new content so much more than the old, it's much more productive and beneficial for our society. Totally agree, everyone is idolizing someone/something, and we need to reflect within ourselves what our idols are, and how that is affecting us and those around us

    Totally agreed 👍👌 however sometimes I feel sad for celebrities specially the younger generations because they are in public eye and people sometimes are heard on them, I feel they don’t have a normal life anymore it’s very heartbreaking 🥺💔

    Beautiful Renee,
    After my Bible Study this evening, i had to come back to comment and share this because this video was the 1st thing that came to my mind during. Tonight was about Identity crisis.
    They mention how nothing on this earth can meet our instinct for identity. Not friends; family; status etc. Only God's word ❤️
    God's word is a place where every question about our identity is answered.
    When God is placed at the center of our lives the conflict finds resolution
    Our true identity shouldn't derive from anyone else but our God.
    Thank you again for always sharing such truth. 💖

      And I also agree with the fact that some influencers live for other people’s validation… Which is sad 😮

    We need to look at ourselves and see that we are the same as these people. Im a musician and I don't put myself under these people just because I'm not famous Im just the same than they. Nobody haves to be idolized that's dumb, but thats our stupid nature of putting others in pedestals and not seeing that we are all great in different ways

    🔥🔥🔥 yes yes , 1000x yes. Thank you so much for this video. Exactly what the people need, definitely looking forward to more sit down videos that’s actually worth listening too. Great content Renee!

    Curious to know if you have ever worried that maybe a big portion of your audience idolizes you? I really enjoy some of the content Renee and other creators put out (especially videos like these!), but can’t we all realize that this platform, like any other social media platform, is designed to addict us? When we as viewers develop an unhealthy binge-watching behavior, which takes away from our own time and mental health, creators profit from this. Not to mention all the sponsored content, redecorating videos, hauls, etc. which definitely promote consumerism. **Not at all saying this to call out Renee specifically. And I also believe viewers need to take some personal accountability for our relationship with social media** Just wanted to share some food for thought and maybe hear some other people’s opinions. I think we ALL should be cautioned (both creators and viewers) to take a step back. Maybe creators shouldn’t be seeking so much monetary gain from this app and some viewers should re-learn how to care more about our own life and relationships instead of living vicariously through creators. And most importantly, social media companies should take way more accountability for how their platforms affect users.

    As an influencer you have people in the comment section idolizing you as well for years, and your job is to sell things wrapped in your lifestyle. Not sure how it's any different, you're just less famous than those celebs but still advertise Factor, BetterHelp, AG1, those bars etc to make money.

    I wish more of the world focused on people who did good things & have good character vs how much they make or likes. None of that matters. None of that really says much about character. Unfortunately, priorities of most in society seem out of whack & the younger generation is heavily influenced by these people.

    I think of this with award shows in general now. I LOVE movies, I do, but there are so many awards shows to stroke the egos of celebrities. They don't have public awards shows for doctors, nurses, EMT's, teachers, etc. It's as if somehow what they do for a living is a lot more important. I saw a doc on J-low and she was complaining about not being nominated for Hustler and my god the whole doc was about her ego. I respect her talent and she's a bad ass performer but get over yourself! Most of us go our whole lives without nominations for this or that and we carry on living. OOh, I'm ranty today. lol! OK back to my normal zen self. haha.
