this episode is based on Avengers #2 from 1963 but substitutes the Space Phantom for the enchantress. In the comics following hulk leaving in the issue he wouldn't rejoin the team until the early 2010s (likely as tie in to him being a member in the avengers movie). edit: parts of the episode and the title "some assembly required" are based on the story of the same name from "Avengers classics #1" in 2007. The story, set between issues 1 and 2 of the original 60s avengers comic, explains how they moved into avengers mansion.
Hulk wasn't that popular yet when Avengers came out. We're talking about 1963 here. The Hulk was barely a year old and had his first solo book got axed in few issues. Then he joined the Avengers for 2 issues, than was passed to shared book(Tales of Astonish, first shared with Antman and later with Namor). Hulk slowly become popular there and got his solo book back in 1968.

He and another mutant girl, he was childhood friends with, were kicked out of their homes and forced to live on the streets. Their mutant powers fully activated when they were being assaulted and chased out of town, by an angry mob. They used their powers to attack the mob and escape. After that they decided to use their powers to become crime lords. The girl would become the super villain Nekra.
Wasp is so precious. Especially when this Wasp is so unique to EMH. And we don't really have Janet in the MCU Amora is also cool, since in the MCU they used elements of her for Hela and Sylvie
such as her tie to Skurge; the executioner and they used her sister loreli in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D when the Thor: Ragnarok press tour let slip that skurge was in it i was hyped for the potential; and what was at the time felt like a dead-ass admission that she was gonna be in it as a side character you don't often get Skurge without the Enchantress comic or not, so it felt all but certain prior to Avengers 1, i got into this cartoon as my gateway into my comics nerd era (i had not even known about the other films at this point, my first MCU film was Captain America 1), so when Amora didn't appear in any MCU media or with skurge i got a lil disappointed especially given she has such history with Thor... not seen Love and Thunder yet, we know it's about Thor and Jane fighting Gorr
@@marvel22-mf1js I think the point that they're trying to make is that Janet in the MCU is certainly very unlike EMH Jan and comic Jan (though personally I'm less familliar with 616 Jan I think the only thing I've read her in is the 2019 Iron Man run) because they aged Hank and Jan up, plus had Jan go on a qauntum realm exile for decades, replacing them with Scott and Hope as the main Ant Man and Wasp.
After the compound got destroyed in Endgame, I thought the land would be repurposed in building the mansion, but it seems unlikely, especially since I initially thought we'd have a 5th Avengers movie by now.
Not as easy some might think to pull a team of disparate personalities together into a unified front, especially when one of those personalities is a semi-brainwashed Hulk. Lots of new recruits on the way though.

Disney owned Marvel when this show aired. It got cancelled to replace it with a (worse) show that was closer to the MCU and wouldn't have multi part episodes. Also, Spectacular was cancelled by default when Sony sold the animation television rights back to Marvel which was around the same time Disney was buying Marvel but didn't really have anything to do with it was just in legal limbo.

Hearing the Fantastic Four name drop made me so happy when first watching this. They're my favourites but pretty much never get any good media outside of comics(fingers crossed for the upcoming movie.)
I grew up watching the 1967 series (reruns) and 90s show a little bit. I loved that original show, and the theme to it is still the best F4 theme of anything imo.
This show was the greatest. Please see the full show and this is even more close to the 616 universe with an ultimate universe mix later on. Best Marvel cartoon show ever

Yeah, unfortunately, this show was another casualty of Disney's acquisition, just like Spectacular Spider-Man. When you guys finish the series, I'll see if I can find it but the creator laid out a whole plan of what canceled concepts for episodes of Season 2 and the entirety of Season 3, were supposed to be.

Again this show prefer to evoque the comics more than any movies, well because the MCU was very new at this point. So Avengers Mansion is the original home of the Avengers and in the comics is more normal than the tower, usually use for the members that doesnt have a main place of operation like Cap, also the cards are actually from the comics too, in the comics usually are not as high tech they are just a membership card that shown that you have being accepted as an Avengers. other fun part is that this story line mimic a lot the reason the avengers united in the comics, Loki mind control the hulk to attack Thor but with all the destruction Tony, Hank and Janet join the figth, obviously the discover Loki, stop the mind control and the Hulk join the figth and i they decide that the idea of teaming up to beat powerfull villians was great so the Avengers were created. also so from the comics the Hulk is more of a temporary member a lot of the times, because of all the selfhate and friction with other members (also i imagine the writers prefer to dont have the most powerfull hero in the world just coming and stoping every enemy in seconds, like the reason Goku is always away from most of the arcs until he appear to beat the bad guy).

MCU hulk did the same thing they did in this show, which I hate, and that’s let him have normal intelligence. The entire point of the hulk is he’s all brawn with no brains, and Banner is all brains with no brawn.
To be honest, neither is perfect. Sure, this developed Hulk quite well, but at the expense of Banner not getting much developed. As for the MCU Hulk,I think how he ended up would have been much better if we got to see more of his journey to him and Hulk choosing to join together.
If you grew up with comic Hulk you'd kniw he goes through phases and is just in his Doc Green 90s phase in the MCU. He'll change again, he always does Stay in school, kid.
