This show, is Marvel’s equivalent to BTAS or JLU. It had such an impression on me, that I still hear these voice actors in my head, when reading a comics, and what else is there to be said about that intro…truly iconic…
Same. I was 20 when I discovered this show and I hadn't watched an animated show in over 5 years by that point but this got me back into them. It was just so good.
This is one of the last Marvel shows that truly didn't try to emulate the MCU to a fault and focused so much on adapting the comics for a modern audience, it's why I love it so much. Even the founding members of the team are the same as the comics, it's nice.
@alexjames4507 Same with Spectacular Spider-Man being replaced by Ultimate Spider-Man. They even chose Drake Bell to voice Spider-Man in EMH over Josh Keaton. What the Hell, Marvel?!
Not so fun fact: Josh Keaton, Grey Griffin, and Daran Norris initially reprised their roles from Spectacular Spider-Man in EMH as Peter/Spider-Man, J. Jonah Jameson and Betty Brant, but Peter and JJJ got redubbed, while Betty didn't matter as much along with Daran also voicing a random police officer in that episode in order to maintain some weird non-existent continuity to Ultimate. To this day, the original version of "Along Came a Spider" with the initial recordings remain lost. @sebastianemond5313
@@alexjames4507 a shame yes, but idk. i like ultimate spiderman and avengers assemble. sure, they aren't AS good, but they are still decent on their own.
I love how retro this show is as well. It’s a really cool blend of Silver and Bronze Age Marvel comics with a modern-day setting, all while maintaining unique, timeless art style. Even the police officers have old-style outfits, giving it a slight Batman: The Animated Series vibe. It’s also set within the Yost-Verse, home to Wolverine and the X-Men and the Hulk Vs films. The Spectacular Spider-Man was originally intended to be part of the Yost-Verse, and even the creators have said that fans are free to connect them together.
I wish this universe was brought back. Marvel says they want to bring back certain shows, maybe if we clamor enough, they’ll give us this masterpiece back
yeah, I really appreciate how the art style has clear jack kirby influences in it aswell. frankly both this and JL/DCAU i really feel superhero shows thrive when you try to do a retro asthetic/make the designs stylized rather than overly realistic or whatever is current/current for the comics
The best part of this show was the theme song. It’s a major banger that’s hard to get out of your head. 🎵Always we will fight as one, till the battle’s won!🎵
The Intro is so cool! Tormented and attacked (Hulk) Lost from when we wake (Cap) with no way to go back (Thor) I'm standing on my own (Tony) but now I'm not alone (Avengers) A second verse was written, but never used sadly.
@@HotDogTimeMachine385 the second verse goes SPOILERS FOR FUTURE MEMBERS Too small to turn the tide (Wasp), too stubborn to give in (Hawkeye), pushed by pain and pride (Black Panther), to face these fears and win (Ant-Man/Yellowjacket), when there’s no one left to trust (Ms. Marvel), It all comes down to us (Vision)
My wife had the intro as her ringer for a bit. Her phone rang while we were in a store, and a little boys eyes lit up and he said, "Mommy, that lady is cool!" My wife was still laughing when she answered her phone she though it was so funny
The definitive Avengers show, naturally made to ride on the craze the MCU had created but fully capable of holding its own. Really good models, conveying 3D space in an animated format. That mocking line from Tony about Hydra trying to take over the world for over 60 years used to be on TVTropes.
Despite having a large adult fanbase, the series did not sell enough merchandise or appeal to the target demographic enough to warrant more than two seasons. It was replaced by the Lighter and Softer and Merchandise-Driven Avengers Assemble, that also suffers from mediocre ratings but its used as an engine to sell toys of characters not introduced in the MCU.
@KenSahaja you fail to realise that thats how cartoons use to be made, most of the profits generated back then was from merchandise, toy sales are what got cartoons made and also what got them cancelled when enough weren't sold starting in the 80's all the way through into the mid 2010s, G1 Transformers suffered heavily from this hence the 1986 massacre from the 1986 film in which almost all the original transformers got killed off and replaced purely because hasbro wanted a new toy line.
This is arguably the best animated marvel show! From the intro to the writing to each character’s story and arc, honestly the best. This along with spectacular spider man was amazing to see. These shows definitely deserve that top ranking alongside the greats of comic book shows.
One (of the many) fun thing about the intro. At the end, when the title of the show appears, it shows the Avengers as a group. This group changes episode to episode (not during the first 5 episodes) showing who is currently in the Avengers. Some characters will disappear for a while and come back later depending on the current story happening in the episode. I'm so glad you're reacting to this. 😊
The crew reacted to Spectacular Spider-Man and now Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes. This makes me happy we finally got their reactions to both of these iconic Marvel shows.
The theme song for the song remains as one of the GREATEST theme songs to a comic book show and truly makes you want to rock out as hard as possible. This show is truly fantastic and adapts the original 60's comics in such a great way that explores all the different sides of the Marvel Universe in such interesting and compelling ways that honestly may be better than the MCU or even the original comics. They especially do such a phenomenal job with the characterisation and dynamic of the Avengers as I would compare the writing to something like Young Justice or Justice League Unlimited

As one marvel pre-mcu show end another start these pre-mcu show from like the 2000s are really underrated so glad you guys are reacting to it and just like spectacular spiderman this had an amazing intro
Eh this is less a pre MCU show and more a MCU adjacent show. The MCU was almost in full swing when this show started airing it definitely did impact its marketing. I distinctly remember black widow getting a lot of marketing despite not actually being a member of the team likely due to her being used in the MCU.
I know it’s considered a “kids show”, but Super Hero Squad is a super fun series that introduced me to many lesser known characters. And Iron Man: Armored Adventures is a really good unique take on the character with a unique art style some may say looks outdated but I like it, and it has an epic theme. You should check them out too.
The intro theme alone sent me back in time! I bonded with some of my closest friends in high school and college watching this show. Good times all round.
Rick is smiling, knowing his friends are finally getting to observe *pure* awesomeness. Since the X-Men animated series was continued, I'm hoping that this series is continued.
This show was a huge part of my childhood and the best Avengers animated property by far. Pure peak. Also where I learned about a ton of popular Avengers/Marvel stories before I got into comics.
Love this show… so much. It was my introduction to Marvel. I watched this show and then jumped straight to The Avengers (2012), fairly easy to transition.
Love that you guys are watching this show. Probably the best superhero cartoon outside of the DCAU. And just a heads up, keep an eye on the group shot at the end of the opening credits.
I completely forgot about this show but now I want to go and rewatch it; because I remember it banging and based on this first episode it still holds up!
I have been adding this to polls for over 5 years now, havent been a patreon for 2 years I think but im glad it finally got chosen. thank you fellow patreons, I just became a patreon again :)
For me, this is the best Marvel series to have come out since the X-Men & Spider-Man from the 1990s. The intro and ending credits alone are enough to get you hooked. This show is the reason I know about most of the things in Marvel these days & the MCU.
I watched Avengers Assemble back in the day, because I was told it was closer to the MCU versions of the characters but that EMH is more faithful to comic versions
I'm so happy they're doing this show. I really hope this gets a lot of new fans to discover this show and maybe other reactors will do it too. Hopefully maybe even we might get an X-Men 97 style revival? This is what got me into the Avengers. Back in 2011, I heard about the Avengers movie coming out in a year so I caught up on the movies and then I saw this on TV while I was waiting for the film. I didn't know anything about the Avengers outside of the previous MCU movies so I thought maybe I could find out some stuff and this show taught me a lot. I fell in love with it immediately. So many characters and plotlines from future MCU movies, shows, Agents of Shield appear in this.
2 things: 1. I know some dvds mess up the order/these were originally miniseries, but I love how the first 5 episodes are sorta stand alone specials meant to show off each member of the avengers rather than having them simply team up. it gives more insight to each character as well as make the events of the actual team up have more weight. 2. I really like how, compared to the mcu, shield is an unrelated group/the avengers are unaffiliated to them. they become more an outside entity that can be both alley or enemy depending on the situation but ultimately are on the side of good.
This one was my proper transition into being a fully fledged Marvel fan; I'd already seen Iron Man (08, after being too lazy to change channels one night) and I found Iron Man Armoured Adventures on Disney XD while guide surfing, and was hooked, then they started airing it in the afternoon and one day I caught the end of Nightmare in Red, and I was hooked.
20:30 Listen carefully the lyrics from the intro: "Our world's about to break" - Referenced to initial intro and the main context of the season 1 "Tormented and upset" - Referenced to Hulk and his human / beast fragility "Lost from when we wake" - Referenced to Captain America and the man lost in time "With no way to go back" - Referenced to Thor leaving Adgard for caring Midgard and his exile. "I'm standing on my own" - Referenced to Iron Man and his phrase in this episode that he coul do this alone, but he has to learn that is not ever is the best option. "But now I'm not alone" - Referenced to other 4 Avengers who will appear suddenly "Avengers Assemble!"
Static Shock, JL/JLU, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes are my favorite animated comic adaptations. Honestly the entire DCAU (Timeverse/Diniverse) and Marvel's Yost Verse (any show tangentially related to the projects Davis Yost worked on for Marvel) are fantastic, and in many ways deeper than some of the stuff that's been put to live action-especially recently😐
I remember reading the "Armor Wars" arc in the Iron Man comic book decades ago, when Stark decides he needs to fix how his tech has gotten out into the wild. Interesting that they went with mandroids instead of the Guardsman suits. If I recall correctly , while Stark did go and disable the Guardsman armor in the comic books, it was an encounter with A.I.M. that tipped him to the fact that bad guys were using his tech. Although,...it may have been a gadget used by a non-A.I.M. member of his rogues gallery. Hmm, too long ago to be 100% certain either way.
I just watched this show for the first time weeks ago! It reinvigorated my love of the Marvel Universe and is probably my favorite version of the Avengers team
Ron Wasserman, the composer of the themes of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and X-Men: The Animated Series, had tried pitching a theme song for the show.
This show is my entire childhood and pretty much the entire reason I'm a marvel fan, I was like 8 when this came out and basically the only reason I watched the avengers movie is because I was already a huge fan of this at the time. it's been a long time since I've seen it but the moment I heard that intro again, so many memories came flooding back.

Well, until Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur came out. It’s not emulating the MCU.
It’s much better than we think.
The best thing was emulating RDJ's Iron Man. That's how good RDJ was
And it was canceled solely so they could make a lesser show that emulates the MCU.

Honestly the entire DCAU (Timeverse/Diniverse) and Marvel's Yost Verse (any show tangentially related to the projects Davis Yost worked on for Marvel) are fantastic, and in many ways deeper than some of the stuff that's been put to live action-especially recently😐
Glad you guys have started the BEST Avengers show, banger theme song (I’m gonna be playing that on repeat, especially with everything this week)
This show pretty much is the closest comic accurate depiction of these characters. Especially Thor and Hulk. Maria Hill WILL piss you off btw lol
One of my all time favourite shows
Glad to see you guys checking it out
I remember reading the "Armor Wars" arc in the Iron Man comic book decades ago, when Stark decides he needs to fix how his tech has gotten out into the wild.
Oh hell yeah! Opening youtube and finding this was a pleasant surprise. Ya'll are in for a treat
Hearing that theme song again brought a tear to my eye. I miss this show so much
SO HAPPY MY SUGGESTION GOT PICKED!
Holy shit what a throwback :D I loved this show! One of the best versions of the Avengers IMO, it deserved SO much more love that it got.
Finally! Waited years for this! Great new show & reaction Wave Crew!
I freaking love this series and its a nice introduction to tony and cant wait for u to see like aaron said the rest of the mini episodes
this show is why i truly fell in love with marvel
I remember the theme song being a banger, i even remembered the lyrics but actually hearing it again is actually better than my memories of it
I grew up with this show when I was in primary school and I still sing this song once in a while
I’m so happy you guys are covering this incredible series!
I love this show. I have it on dvd. I really love the way they did the dynamic between Banner, and Hulk.
YES! So happy you guy's are watching this series. Definitely one of my favorite animated series of all time.
I watched this as kid with my cousins on XD and we loved it,I rewatched it as a teenager loved it,rewatched it as an adult absolutely loved it.
I love watching this since I was a kid since the early 2000.
OK. I’m absolutely LOVING this! Good job, guys!
I just watched this show for the first time weeks ago! It reinvigorated my love of the Marvel Universe and is probably my favorite version of the Avengers team
YEEEEES! YES YES YES FINALLY! ONE OF MY TWO BIGGEST HOPES FOR THEM TO REACT TO!
Ron Wasserman, the composer of the themes of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and X-Men: The Animated Series, had tried pitching a theme song for the show.
Oh my god, i remember watching this show. i loved it. This brings back so many memories 😢
I actually GASPED when I saw you were reacting to this! Such a blast from my childhood! 😁
The intro lyrics fit each of the heroes in tandem~
Just like Spectacular Spider-man's first reaction, thank you editor for keeping the whole intro so we can enjoy it fully as well.
