What a horrible loss to have him go at his age, he must be one of the most talented actors of his generation and I wish we got to see more of his top tier screen presence.
And Chalky made the mistake of gambling on the honor of a snake to save another...Despite his faults he was one of my favorite characters and an incredible actor to portray him. couldn't agree with you more. @@darrellrichmond9686
Narcisse was a snake. He poisoned his own community with drugs while pretending to be "civilized" whereas Chalky DID actually care about Black folks. Saddly, he let his emotions, ego and lust over a club girl be his downfall. Nuck even tries to point out that he has a wife and kids at home, but Chalky didn't heed this advice. My man was done dirty in a back alley, even though Nanarcisse got his as well. I'd still have liked for Chalky to have come out on top
Chalky was an original character and the writers did him wrong. Dr Narcisse I hated because he claimed to be all about empowering the black community while being a drug pusher.
Chalky was to boardwalk empire, exactly what Omar was to the wire. Even his short appearance on the sopranos highlights how good he plays the intelligent bad-ass with a heart of gold. You see his scar, hear him talk, and think "look at this ghetto P.O.S". Two episodes later, he's you're favorite character.
Chalky may have been a criminal and a stone cold killer, but in is own way he was also a fair, loyal and decent man. Never a liar. He was always out there to help out his own people. Dr. Narcisse was the exact opposite. He pretended to be everything that Chalky actually was but in reality he was nothing but a lying snake and had zero problems exploiting his own people just to get what he wanted. Great video man.
Chalky chastised Purnsly by saying "All this for a little jelly?!?" When he messed up and killed that guy, but then Chalky pretty much did the same thing and ended up the same way.
Out of the entire six season, with all the copious acts of gratuitous violence, countless murders, mamings and the deaths of characters that you'd gotten to know, one of standout tragic deaths of the show was Chalky's daughter. Not because she was popular character, she wasn't fleshed out enough for that to happen, but it was the implications of her accidental killing. The two obvious ones was Richard's end and the almost complete destruction of Chalky's life. Beyond that it had a significant ripple effect for the other powerful characters. That doesn't even get to Shakespearean tragedy of it all. A young girl, just starting on her way to life cut down by a bullet that might as well have been fired by her father. The father, meaning to take out his nemesis who was trying to take what was his, but ended up killing his daughter and hastening his own loss. And it was a sad irony that Richard had been the one that fired the bullet. We know that the killing of Angela Darmody was something that affected him greatly. Beyond the fact that they were friends and he liked her, she was an innocent. Both were Innocents that were connected to one of his very few friends; Jimmy with Angela and this girl and Chalky(i can't remember his daughters name). Everything about it was lamentable.
“Cut down by a bullet that might as well have been fired by her father” That’s deep man, and big facts. His daughter’s name was Maybelle. Thank you for watching and providing the dope feedback
Nucky had to adapt to the times. Beyond their bubble of "art of conversation" and old world loyalty was a depraved world of crime full of adversaries who take more and more risk than he was used to. Beyond season 3 chalky became a liability and even more that narcisse took over his influence over Atlantic city.
Hey man, I just finished the show and knowing there’s a TH-cam making videos on the show makes me really happy! It’s like it’s helping fill the void the show has left for me. Chalky was a real one Fr!

Chalky was a great character and one of my favorites. His ending was just not good, not only because I wanted better to happen, but it was written so poorly that I didn’t believe it. Chalky would never give up what he did for a deal he knew was fake.
He told Nucky that he was running with a crew robbing banks and whatnot. Said they "left him ass in the wind.", and he had to do some time. This was said during that meeting when Nuck told him not to pursue Narcisse.
One of the best characters in the show hands DOWN. And how they depicted the Black Community in the 20’s is just utterly amazing. Top 3 character in the show if not my favorite.
first off this is a fantastic video, edited great as well i love this show so much so seeing someone finally make a breakdown of these fantastic characters is amazing!
I loved Chalky White, season 4 he goes to the highest high only to lose everything; his money, his political status, his family (especially Maybell😢). I wanted to see him come back in season 5 and whip Dr. Narcisse.

For those that don't know, the reason Chalky drew down on Lanskey about his Packard is because on of Chalky's men was l***hed and tied off to Chalky's Packard.
I think that the reason the writers never had Chalky make a move on Narcisse was that Narcisse kept his dirty dealings in the dark and used his U.N.I.A. position as this well educated and worldly leader in the black community to put up this front and maintain this totally fake "air of respectability". Chalky was more of a local representation of the black working class who really made no bones about his affiliation with the rackets. It's like they operated in two different worlds. Chalky taking out Narcisse would be like a Crip leader taking out Al Sharpton. Sure they are both crooks but the street guy would get no sympathy except from the hardcore criminal element.

I was in the standoff scene against Chalky, as one of Gyp's bodyguards. I have to say not only a great actor but was a really nice gentleman.
What a horrible loss to have him go at his age, he must be one of the most talented actors of his generation and I wish we got to see more of his top tier screen presence.
That's dope man. One of my goals is to interview Bobby Cannavale about his role as Gyp. Which bodyguard were you?
I hate that Chalky lost to Narcisse. I get it, Chalky wasn't as well connected or as sadistic. Chalky let his emotions get the best of him.
