    Hey Bogle! I saw your first two videos and was inspired to make a case of my own. I also used this exact shelf in this video. Instead of letting the fabric hang loose on the back I had purchased some melamine board I found next to the acrylic in Lowe's. I cut it down to the size I needed, then wrapped my fabric around it and glued the edges on the back side. I placed the backing in first, then the wooden shelf and it left it with a very clean look free of loose fabric and wrinkles. It also covered the holes on the frame of the shelf. Can't tell the difference between what you showed me how to build and a moducase. Thank you!

      The only reason why I didn’t use board in the back was incase a base of a statue was to large it could hang off the back with fabric but I definitely thought about using board. Thanks for the feedback

    Great video man. Your first videos introduced me to the garage shelving idea. Getting ready to build my first one.

      Any tips on what paint you used on the shelves? Also did you have to sand them or anything? I can't find a good answer so far

      @@mattbentley2909 just a regular satin black paint in a can from Walmart. Just rolled it on. Hit it with a clear matte coat after so it wasn’t tacky

    Finally a video that doesn't make me have more questions and fo huh....only scary part I wish the case to be longer to display maybe a hottoys batmobile or Falcon cockpit also worry how strong will the shelves be holding those items ? The acrylic still scary because since I want a longer shelf I'll need longer acrylic. How would that work?

    Nice! I made a few shelves using ideas from your method. I love the way it looks. One suggestion I have that people might want to try, is to use some rare earth magnets for keeping the curtain nice and tight. Theyre extremely strong and they stick to the garage shelf uprights perfectly. I actually only have a little bit of tape on the very top of the display holding the curtain, the rest is just the magnets keeping it in place and wrinkle free.

    Thank you so much for these videos man! It’s been a struggle to display my 1/4 scale Darkseid from Weta Workshop due to the depth and these tutorials have been a godsend.
    Next up for me is the acrylic, have you had any issues with bowing? I’m looking at ordering a sheet 170cm wide x 120cm high (about 67x47 inches) wondering if I should go for 3mm or if 4.5mm thickness would be safer. Thanks!

    how dust proof would you say these are? been watching tons of DIYs today (have my first big statues arriving this fall) and looking to get them displayed properly.

    This is great, the first vid was crystal clear to me but more content never hurts. What kind of paint did you use for the shelves? Will the paint not damage the statue after a while by sticking to the bottom?

    • @Hiddendimension1
      @Hiddendimension1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. I used a black satin enamel and made sure to let it cure over night. I then did a light pass of matte spray finish on them to prevent tackiness.

    Good stuff. Definitely need to iron out the wrinkles, but once that's done, they will look great.

      I used a steamer and they came out great. Did that the day after I filmed all this.

      @BogleArts only other idea might be a material that doesn't reflect so much light? I haven't looked into it, not sure if it would be too costly for this type of DIY project.

    Ok i see you used the curtains as the backdrop. I thought that was just for the shelves. I was trying to find black poster boards. I found some i just hope you don't see the cuts in them. worst case ill use the curtain. thanks again.

      Once the fabric was steamed and not wrinkled that did a lot. But yea this is just how I do it so feel free to change anything to suit your vision.
