  • Take a rare look inside Hydro Tasmania's Poatina Power Station's penstock - the giant pipe which is part of the process of conveying water from Great Lake to the power station. It is located in the Tasmania's north east and water flows downstream to a number of other water users.
The way in which this project was undertaken shows just who Hydro Tasmania are - two years of stakeholder engagement ensured that impacts of this shut down were minimised.
Looking at the big picture has helped this project be not only an engineering success, but a great example of the way Hydro Tasmania works with the community.

The last time I was in Tasi at one of the power stations they said that the project has never been completed, and that it is only two thirds of it's potential. I can't help wondering why this is , given the state of Australia's power needs. Hydro fits all the requirements for modern electricity generation. This is mind boggling!
