Dear Ma'am, Greetings for the day. What you have suggested is half correct. When you are cleaning the plant with spray. It will definitely remove mealybugs but there are lot of chances dropping living mealybugs in the pot along with the eggs. mealybugs lay 100-200 or more eggs in cottony. so better to clean plant in slanting or sleeping position. Spray the plant with suggested soap water. Put bucket under the plant so that all mealybugs along with there eggs with fall into the bucket. Clean the plant till single mealybugs get removed from the plant. drain the bucket in toilet and flush it off. If not possible to clean the plant then cut off the infected branches. and take one chance. Keep the plant under observation for next two three days. Take care. Enjoy Gardening.
