  • In this episode James from Bolton Motorcycles is going to fit all the parts that TEC has provided with some nice extras such as an aftermarket exhaust with removable baffle. What an incredible sound this little single cylinder engine makes!
    Huge thanks to Tec Bike Parts for sponsoring this season and for sending us most of the parts you'll see in this video.

      You won't be when you see how bread the bread box rusts. What a pile of rusty scrap metal mine was. The best thing I ever did to my Meteor was the replace it.

    The reason why people make their bikes a bit loud , is safety . You often need to be heard to be seen , modern cars are so quiet inside , distractions while driving , radios , phones , and occupants . Bikers need to be a tad loud to compensate for drivers not paying attention. Nice machine , cheers .

    • @davidskogley3570
      @davidskogley3570 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The problem is, is that because newer cars are so well-insulated, drivers rarely hear bikes at all, whether they're loud or not, so louder pipes don't save lives at all, they just make non-bikers more belligerent.

    Please adjust your clutch lever - If the rear wheel is rotating when the vehicle is in neutral and the clutch disengaged, it may potentially mean that the clutch level possibly needs a bit of more play.

    Got a question for you, please? At minute 2:50 the red electrical connectors you're using to adapt the new LED indicators to the existing harness, what are they and where did you get them? I also have a Meteor that I've been upgrading the electrics on, and sourcing those connectors to mate aftermarket parts is a real issue, they seem to be specific to Royal Enfield (also on Himalayan)!

      @@gmmotomedia Thanks, but I looked, they unfortunately don't list them for sale specifically. Instead they sell a "Universal Wiring Adaptor" kit, to patch in 3.5mm bullet connectors. Which is what I wound up doing myself! Hitchcock's does sell these odd little 2-pin connectors, BTW. It's still very annoying, for a basic bike why did they use all these odd proprietary electrical parts on the wiring harness? Which then seems to vary between production years!

      The air to fuel ratio will change unless you get your bike remapped you will likely see a change in both fuel economy and performance (probably for the worst).

      @@gmmotomedia Not so ! The euro 5 regulations state that all new bikes are fitted with an ECU that learns the changes made to air intake and exhaust. this is simply to future proof those bikes that may need replacement parts that may well become hard to find years down the line. Making having to fit pattern parts from third party manufacturers the only option. So all I had to do when fitting open exhaust and free flow air filter was start her up and let her idle for about 5 mins. No change in fuel economy but major improvement in real world mid range power. Next step is to go with Larger sprocket to make her rev less at given throttle openings. These are never going to be fast bikes but the torque is what it is all about with these little belters.

    • @gmmotomedia
      @gmmotomedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen it first hand on the dyno. After the ECU reprogrammed it actually made the bike run worse. After the remap it ran properly again. This is another example where in theory manufacturers can state whatever they want but in reality it's almost never the case.
