Used my meteor 350 as a daily, just passed the 20,000 mark without any issues. Never bothered cleaning it, never had an official service or followed the schedule. Done my owm oil changes, they are very strong bikes and far more durable than most would believe

That's perfect. You really have got most out of what you paid initially then as you've not had 20,000 of somewhat expensive servicing!

I went for Bullet (Maroon) because of:
    - Seat is really comfy
    - Maroon colour is what I love
    - Bullet - the name says its all
    - I love hand painted tank, you can see the brush stroke.
With regards to differences. Seat is an obvious part but also the rear mudguard is not round like in classic. This also means that mounts for a rear mudguard are slightly different.
I have tested custom panier racks intended for Classic - the ones with a grill and shelf to suspend the bag. It worked kind of okeyish. They are very crudely done so one was bit off shape. With a couple of whacks using rubber mallet it was all dandy. The other one fitted perfectly.
Maroon is extinct from dealerships now (UK). They don't offer it anymore. Maybe you need to ask for an import or wait for the resupply next year.
Important thing about these motorcycles is the engine. Don't believe anyone who says it is jumpy, doesn't run well etc. This engine completely changes after running in. At 2000 miles you will notice the difference between what is now and what was it when you took it from dealership. So do your job properly and don't overstress the engine over the first 1300 miles. Your engine will thank you later.

I've never seen a Maroon one in the flesh, I suspect as you say it is the best, if you can say such a thing about a colourway. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Sean

You have a very wise head, for such a young man and this video explains the reasons for owning one of these gorgeous bikes, perfectly.
I have owned so many bikes over the years, that I have lost count but my red / chrome Classic 350 is the only one, to make me genuinely happy, every time I ride it. I have other bikes that go faster but I find myself more and more choosing this one, to ride all day. I was out yesterday from around 9.30am to 5.30pm, with several stops and I was disappointed when I got home, that I had come to the end of the ride. I was completely comfortable and totally relaxed. Great bikes.

I love the look of the Classic. In person though, I liked the look of the Bullet better. It is a work of art. But, I ended up buying a Meteor 350 because it simply fit me better. And, I simply love that bike! But, you sre right. You can't go wrong with any Royal Enfield 350's.

Today I made a down payment on a new 2023 RE 350 Classic Stealth with the touring seat and pillion pad. I could not pass it up with all fees and shipment to my door (550 miles) it is $4,936! I have a CTX700, a very capable and very good motorcycle but my riding style is now back roads, country lanes, and 50 -55 mph suits my soul. I don't know if it is my age, turning 76 this year and I have been riding continually for 41 years or just wanting to slow down and smell the roses...and listen to the thump, but I can't wait to take delivery. I love the looks, the simplicity, the sound, and the wide assortment of aftermarket accessories available for a very modest price. Here is value for my money spent.

All the 350 J series are fantastic bikes, each giving its own merits.😊
I agree, that the dash is better/nicer on the Meteor.
As you know, I have done the upgrades, on Bumble.
The came gives more grunt, up through gears.
That’s my choice, to spend my money, on my bike.
I will say, I was on the fence, with the cam. But was advised to idle bike for a good half hour, no throttle.
    This did make a difference.😊
I have considered getting another J series, and keep standard. But due to my short 27 inch inside leg, limited to the Meteor. I do like the Signals.

There are also big bore kits (410cc &500cc) for the J series, Moto Morten has fitted one on his Classic and will be doing a report/review once run-in but initial impressions are of @30bhp. Wee Mark and Coastrider Scotland both have reviews of the Kent cam and Tiger Ness as excellent workshop vids on installing them - a simple job that should only take a couple of hours in the garage at home. The ECU on the J series has a self-mapping function that should be used EVERY time an engine mod is installed - see Tiger Ness for details.

I would consider picking up loose change a common characteristic of Enfield J-Series owners. Frugality is a virtue. I’m surprised the number of owners who risk reducing their fuel economy to gain a little power. Yesterday, I chased down a bystander at a service station to show him the 83 mpg I calculated for my 650 BMW on its last tank of fuel. I’m a prime candidate for the 350 Classic.

I've been watching prices of Enfields and Chinese brands over a few years and Enfield and Benelli are the only ones I'd buy with any expectation of residual value at all - even that very low - and without factoring in deep discounting on new models (CFMoto 650MTs are currently £4500!). Even then, I bought a 2nd hand Meteor, the change of importer from MotoGB and stock clearance that resulted wiped £1000 off those too. So what though, it costs pennies to insure and run, just enjoy it for what it is you can always drop it, have someone nudge it off the side stand or worse of all get into an accident and that will wipe its value and/or increase future insurance costs too.

There is actually quite a bit of difference between the classic and the Bullet. The Bullet appears more big and bulky. Also the handlebar position is more up and wide giving a stance of a king sitting on his throne kind of a feel. The seat is a lot more comfortable than the classic. The tank is not tear drop shaped like the classic and is more wide. The rear mudguard is box type in the bullet compared to classic and is short. The ground clearance is 10mm less compared to classic. The seat height is more on the bullet whereas classic is low.

I really liked the Bullet. I tried a Classic and a Bullet and the Bullet was more comfy and the gears/engine felt more 'relaxed' but that might have just been the individual bikes. Actually the classic was the more run in so should have been looser? Is the mapping different?
Anyway, I just wish there was a Bullet 500 because it wouldn't get my fat (100kg+) self much over 60mph!
Maybe there will be a Bullet 650, but then it won't be a nice single...

In terms of the Bullet and the Classic, yes they're very similar, it's the seat, the rear mudguard and the trim basically.
But look back to the previous models, the Classic, was a spin off from the Bullet, a kind of Bullet deluxe.
And I'm pretty certain that if Royal Enfield had released the J-Series Bullet first with the Classic a year later, no one would have anything to say.
Personally I'd take the Bullet, then customise the beejus out of it to turn it into a Trials machine, think BAAK 's beautiful machine from Three Of A Kind.

I hadn’t heard that DNA air filters claim an increase in hp. I bought the filter for the ability to clean it and if I recall correctly the box only claims an extra 2% airflow.

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

That could well be accurate but I think I recall looking on the DNA website and seeing a Dyno graph... I suppose even for cleaning it's worth it. Anything else is a bonus.

    • @elwood62
      @elwood62 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@MindfulMotorcyclistyou got me curious so I went to their site to check. I was wrong, they claim a 4.85% increase in airflow. Then, for some inexplicable reason, on the page for the Meteor 350 filter they show the dyno for 3 race bikes. Two Yamahas and a BMW. Must be for all those people wondering how the Meteor compares to the BMW S1000rr. I know I had a hard time choosing between the two.

    •  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

The DNA is a small increase, the big advantage over the standard paper filters is the airflow won't change much between cleans, whereas the paper filters airflow will continue to degrade to varying degrees until they are replaced. The consistency is worth it to me. The stage 2 airbox cover makes a huge increase in airflow if that's your thing.

I’ve only had the Shotgun a few weeks, at the moment it’s winning over the Interceptor, but I’m going to give it a few months and make my mind up, I can’t help thinking getting rid of the Interceptor would be a bit like giving away my dog when a new pup arrives, not something some I’d be capable of, unless RE come up with a new Bullet 500 the Interceptor will be staying.

The free unit bullet 350 and 500 were a continuation of the old Reddit built bikes using the tooling provided by Royal Enfield in England the new j series bike is a totally new bike and has nothing to do with the old one except for the name the same way the new Volkswagen is totally different from the old Volkswagen except for the name the same thing for the Cooper mini. It has not been in continuous production for over a hundred years For 50 years Enfield did not have the Royal monitor until they bought it. The Royal Enfield name is merely a sales gimmick to encourage British people to buy it thinking they have a British motorcycle. I have four BSA single cylinder motorcycles that were made in England by English people from English Parts. The new bike is a modern bike looking like a vintage bike but still loaded with electronics from stem to stern. It is not a simple motorcycle. It just emulates one. They are heavy and underpowered and unsafe on highways.
