There is a disjuncture between the content of the rig veda and the upanishads which is presumably due to sramanic influence on brahmanic thought?
Thanks for a very interesting lecture.

What are your thoughts about the quality of evidence that exists regarding the Sramana movement predating the Vedic age in the Indian subcontinent? In some ways, the Vedas that were revealed to the Rishis, were themselves an outcome of a Sramanistic venture by them, weren't they?

sramanas were ruling India long before brahmanic faith started popping up in North Western part of india after indus valley people civilization fell due to probably climate changes. We give brahmanical people too much importance their thinking started propagating slowly in India. They were just people of astrology just like a seer they thrived on superstitious beliefs of people and did rituals. They took power after buddhist kingdoms fell due to invasions hence there are no archeological evidence of them except few Greek sources...

@@mksharma1464 good to hear about your self realisation of truth, irrespective of religion always remember our Indian culture is about acceptance which is taught by Hinduism and other Indian religions, proving one religion superior is not our Indian culture

@@mksharma1464There was noreligion at that time. There was Vedic way of life. In Vedic civilization there was no temple. They use to worship nature and there were animal sacrifice. Buddha rejected Vedas and opposed animal sacrifice.
