It’s quite complicated to follow Indian philosophy when we put stories that has zero physical reality (demons , Mahabharata, Ramayana). To me it feels after watching this that all those stories were made in later period by people who like them or dislike them.

"you cannot see or feel Uv rays but you are exposed to them and you are greatly affected"
There are different imaging systems that help see them and observe their effects. Whats being talked about in charvaka is that we should test a theory thru all evidences and experience it for oursleves before believing its the truth.
"it is like of a guy who just wants to enjoy life in each and every way he desires and doesn't cares for others"
      > Charvaka doesnt say to steal from others. Its talks about an overall wellbeing of individual. Thats why their slogans say we need to consume ghee and not alcohol as alcohol might give temporary pleasures but in long run its harmful to body.
Charvakas also advocated ethics, with fair and honest trading practices. Like if one person is trading food items with other person, they said the items should be unadulterated and of good quality so our actions dont harm others in any way and even they in return be fair and honest.
Over the time their real teachings got distorted as their original works were burnt and destroyed by other people of other philosophy. The only means we know them is by the criticism of their work, which ofcourse would be biased and half truth as the original works no longer exist
Charvaka philosophy was suppressed by early priests and brahmands and spread bad rumours about them, they destroyed the original works of charvaka so people dont start question and asking questions and continue paying money to priests for carrying our rituals so they keep getting rich.

@@kartik9892 They take senses as the only way of getting knowledge and we all know our senses are not perfect. You are affected by Uv rays but still you cannot fell the affect they cause to yor cells. And Uv rays being detected by some appliances is an evidence of my statement being true that our senses are not perfect. You cannot rely on just your senses.
      1. You Don't even know how many senses you possess in your body the ignorance of mind intelligence and ego as senses is absurd they are a part of our subtle body ignoring them would hinder your spiritual growth..being materialistic only suggest that you are not being spiritual and the major factors affecting the world are not materialistic even the scientists accept this today..you are just in deep ignorance if you consider materials whole and sole of the world.
      2. There are two types of people who learn from experience and others who learn from other's experiences and the ones who learns from other experiences is smarter in your age of 70 to 80 you cannot rely on hit and trial method to live your life you need to learn from others experience you can't rely on just your experiences.
      3. Role of Guru is very essential in our life one cannot be liberated without a bona-fide guru even if you leave this scriptural fact then too everybody's knows the value of being taught in various fields you cannot even pass 1st standard without a teacher..the fact that the charvaka are smart enough(as they think) is because they have been taught of the basics from the people surrounding them and then they came up with a revolting philosophy..if all were left just to observe by themselves everything in thier life the society would reduce it speed of growth somethings are already known then we are able to keep up further exploration.
      3. Athiesm is illogical you are just in ignorance if you are an athiest. If there is a creation there has to be a creator also the process of creation is clearly and flawlessly scripted in the ancient texts but since they are supralogical for our senses and appliances that we currently possess they seem impossible.

And and a charvak today would accept the existence of bacteria, cells, virus, bcoz they can be perceived under a microscope.
"Uv rays being detected by some appliances is an evidence of my statement being true that our senses are not perfect."
      > Not when thousands of scientists around the world reach the same conclusion that UV ray exists. Yes its true senses of some can be distorted and can lead to false results, but not when everyone reaches the same result. It was our senses that were able to understand how nature works and build things like the phone, laptop, internet etc. If you say we cant trust our sense at all, i would disagree. We have reached this far in our civilization bcoz of our ability to perceive thru our sense. If ancient people kept thinking we cant trust our senses we would still be living in jungles without electricity or technology or medicines.

@@kartik9892 4. scientists also don't know from where did the "singularity" came I the big bang hypothesis..and God is the one who created everything thing if someone or something created GOD than that person or thing is GOD so no one can create GOD. Understand the meaning of word GOD.
      3. People are in ignorance HE has revealed HIMSELF time and again..."Yada Yada hi Dharmasya Glanir Bhavti Bhartah Abhudyanam Adharamsya Tadatmanam Srijameham" HE comes time and after..He will not come to your house personally to say hello or telecast a live show..."The fools take me for an ordinary men". HE already said that..and if you say that all this is a myth then read about SHREE CHAITANYA MAHAPRABHU HE I even know in our history books..and His appearance is already spoken off in Many Puranas and other scriptures if all scriptures are myth then how come they are true.
      2. No soul proven...everyone has a ego can you perceive it through your senses is it material. No isn't but it exists that means there are things beyond material and thousands of scientists coming on a result is talked about then majority of scientists are not athiest. Ego Mind and Intelligence is our subtle body and they are not gross material but they exist...anything is first made in the mind than in reality as a painter first makes the painting in his mind than on the paper..all this not material..I didn't said that we cannot depend on our senses also..Charvaks are the one who say we should depend only on the senses..you yourself said that senses are not perfect why would you depend "only" on something which is imperfect.Yoi try to fit everything in your logical boundaries that is why for your GOD is illogical..in ancient times talking to someone at a distance of 1000kms was illogical.Your logic depends only on the limited amount of knowledge you have you cannot say that's something you can't comprehend need not to be.
***You just need to know and experience you'll realise HE is there...For me to believe in many things was very difficult and I just thought they were just stories but if you aspire and try you'll experience the same unbelievable experiences..KRISHNA has even played with the devotees...Sakshi GOPAL walked with his devotee to act as witness everyone knows that his Vigrah went to the south India which is difficult to believe but all this has happened...Science is way behind I many things yes we have laptops telephones etc in 2000 years knowledge(materialistic) has increased immensely but Bliss has gone down and tensions and frustrations has increased suicides divorces growing requirements of psychiatrist are all known but people are in ignorance and they think we have become progressive. The function of knowledge is to provide bliss but since there is no bliss that means this knowledge lacks something and that is Spirituality knowledge of Purusa Prakriti Jeeva Kaal Karm is lacking..
We call this environment nature..wander whose nature..nature is someone's nature nature canot be found independent..anger is not independent it is 'someone's' nature..

30:40 Akasa or Ether is not an element. Earth, Water, Fire, Air can be mixed / combined to create something. Ether is not an element hence it can't be used to create any object. What can be created with ether? Space is just the distance between 2 or more elements of the 4 elements. If Ether/Akasha/Space is an element then Time is also an element, which vedic people do not consider as an element. Both Time and Space can't be used to create any object. Time is just duration of change of A->B and Space is the distance between A->B.

If you are trying to debate scientifically, just investigate, the structure of an atom, the base of all materialistic existence, what is its composition, the electron, proton and the neutron are bounded by what exactly for they are not the 100% composition of an atom. Ether/Space is what they are surrounded with, its the intelligence that define which atom does what.

Good preview of the school of thought. However the views of the professor are completely swayed with the idealistic presumptions. Taking the texts of the opponent philosophers such as Sarvadarsana Samgraha to explain Charvaka philosophy will be wrong. Debiprasad Chathopadhyaya in his famous book Lokayata has abundantly trashed the outlook put by Madhava. It will be highly wrong to assume that charvakas believed in on two of the four purusharthas is a joke as they have already trashed the philosophical schemes of Brahmins as a whole. Further they have never completely denied the validity of anumana whereas they believed in causation coming out of perceptible material world. Ramakrishna Bhattacharya will be a better reference.

I don't have read too much of charvaka. Someday I'll be back with much information. But as far as I've read, they vary even amongst fellow charvak. Some charvaks were like rin leke ghee piyo paise mat do. Some had very good view points on ethics. Speaking of metaphysics. There is instance where rishi jabal discards shraddha system, lok parlok infront of Ram. He deconstructs the concept of shraddha and stuff. So they were essentially nastik and atheistic both. Neither did they believe in vedic terminologies. But ethic part varied from person to person, charvak has some messed up ethical standards too. Most of asuri philosophy seems to mirror charvak, live and enjoy the present , consume everything and when you die give no cares.

@@AkshayChaitanya sorry i have done so much of studies,i know the philosophical spectrum of all traditions, even u need to know the most ancient tradition in south india in the name of Ajivika-Aseevaham.As long as there is brutal manipulation of voiceless living beings on the earth,no peace will be attained.Where gone the empathy?Mankind just another selfish being without knowing the true nature, for the record straight even other voiceless living beings way compassionate than human. All these word-juggling of one who had perceived something,is useless without knowing the real nature of this existence.Im good.dont worry about me,rather im educating others now,and ill educate u too..since u still far off.

@@empathycompassion6157 true, Akshay always welcome healthy discussion. The sutras of established schools of Indian philosophy were scattered in authentic Vedic literature and later separated for studies. All are alive within and outside the body. The consciousness is experienced with or without attributes following a chronological inner growth. Study, reasoning and experience is the formula. Word game concept goes both ways. Schools never forces or tries to overpower others. Followers vision is another issue. To support or reject body level one needs a body. And Indian philosophy or Darshan teaches balanced approach between behavior and spiritualism. The attitude towards other creatures falls in domain of rituals, rites, customs in short commercialized karma Kanda and economics.
Sudy of Darshan for livelihood, rejecting or moving towards truth - depends on case to case.
