I was going to mention not to use your hand as a mallet. I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and I still catch myself using my hand as a hammer. Look up a diagram of Carpal Tunnel and you will understand why this hurts. It's a little painful now, but you could be causing permanent damage that will make it difficult to use your hands later. Bad news for a maker. Keep a mallet nearby.
