Dudaw is a name I haven't heard in years. When I was 14 I was so fascinated with the Beta of Super Mario 64 I would watch Dudaw and other attempts at the Beta Restoration. Now being able to play a restoration and see his work come back in some way is so surreal.
this is the first b3313 1.0 video I've seen with the bowser room / "seinfeld castle" song thank god it's still there I was worried it got cut from the final release
At the end of this video you say that it's a boring topic and I wholeheartedly disagree. I really hope this series doesn't end after part 5. You could do a 100% completion run over the course of 10 parts, I'd watch the hell out of that!
Hey! Due to watching these videos and this series ending soon I was thinking of starting my own B3313 playthrough Anything I should have before going in? A startracker or map? As cool as this hack does seem a lot of this backtracking seems heavy on my bad memory
As for getting lost, you probably will get very lost the first time lol. It's also quite unsettling not being able to leave the castle too, but if you watch enough videos on B3313 on TH-cam, and keep at it, (you might want to use save states too if you die alot the first few times), you'll start getting the hang of it. Though my advice for the start, once you've had your first experience and get serious about completing the game: DISCLAIMER: You do NOT need all these tips to complete the game, and this list is not exhaustive or all inclusive. You'll discover many of these by yourself anyways :D - Learn where all the cap switches are and get those first before starting. Or you'll reach many dead ends and miss many easy stars - Learn where some of the red stars are, that'll be your next priority, but you don't need too many really. Min 2 Red stars, one to unlock long jump, one to unlock somersault - There's actually another switch, but I don't recommend pressing that until you've gotten a quite a few stars (around 100) - Use fast travel a lot to counter getting too lost, and grab all the stars you can from places you do find - Keep track of the colour and music in the castles. When it switches, you're in a new part/section of the castle - Don't jump on the hob (you'll see why ;D) - Probably use a star tracker if you want to 100% the game. Parallel launcher + romhacking-com integration version of B3313 comes with a star tracker no additional setup. Project 64 v3.0 (do NOT play v1.6 it's malware prone) has one too For navigation, I personally like to categorize a location to one of 4 types: - Lobby: Has direct access to paintings. May also be a junction - Junction: Access to lots of warps and other junctions - Tunnel: May appear to be a junction, but actually only has 1 route to go - Dead End: There's nowhere else to go And a little hack, sorta cheating, but if you stand near a wall, and then start looking around in first person, you can see behind the walls, and see what the whole lobby/junction looks like. Like seeing above a maze, really helpful
I would personally recommend to not use the star tracker, as it shifts your focus away from main game. Otherwise, be ready for a lot of backtracking like you say.
Man I would love to see a video talkig about all this areas/stars hard to get. Watchingbtour videos I have seen a lotbof things that I would never have found by myself
thanks for showing how to get to the dudaw lobby! i went there back in the 0.9 build but couldn't remember for the life of me how to get back to it for 1.0 - it ended up having the last few stars i needed to hit 400 for my 1.0 playthrough =)

One of my favorite lobbies is the one in Unsettling Maze, just before the Mutant Toad. Makes the mind wander a bit...
