I loved the checkerboard shoes! This makes so much sense to do with shoes that are really scuffed because they are less appealing at the thrifts and more likely to go to the landfill. Thanks for the inspiration 💜
Ok THIS might be my favorite thrift flip you have ever done because it was accessible and you listed out all the products so well! I love that I can do this without lugging out my sewing machine and as a plus-sized lady so many thrift flips rely on extra fabric from larger clothing which just isn’t all that practical as someone who is a larger size.
thank you!! yes agreed - i'm really leaning into flips of just secondhand fabric or shoes, and more creative ways of upcycling pieces! I'm glad you enjoyed it Katherine!
Just found your channel. Semi-experienced seamstress, have always wanted to try thrift flipping but never had the confidence. Thanks for some great ideas and encouragement to try some of these alterations. ❤️ your flowery jacket. Tres chic!
i actually have a pair of loafers from my last thrift flip video that i already did a yellow and brown show with a funky design, and i just wanted plain shoes for this one! i would slso not recommend drawing with a sharpie unless its oil based. paint markers work wonders though!
This is amazing! I loved the jacket! In an antique store I recently saw where someone had taken jean jackets and added vintage doilies and hankies around the bottom and I thought they were fabulous! I have a huge collection of both and thought I would try it myself. Now I want to go paint some of my pieces!!
Good stuff👍👍 I'm team crafty as well. I'm currently working on a splattered paint design on some kicks, I've been doing diy fashion projects for the longest most of my clothing pieces going way back to highschool was diy projects. Again good stuff and I'm looking forward to more of your diy fashions.🙂
Oh those shoes! I really need to remember this: I can buy black shoes at the thrift shop, because all I need to paint them. If you iron the painted pieces for a good 10 seconds a spot from the inside (not on the colour) you will be able to wash your piece on a gentle cycle. The tip of not painting over seams is so duh, but I never would have thought of it myself. Thanks.
i don't do it for the recognition, but for the joy of sharing upcycles and fashion fun! i am extremely happy with my lovely community, but thank youu for the compliment!
Both of my parents thrift shopped and up-cycled. I started thrift shipping and up-cycling in my teens; and, I learned how from my parents. My daughter (now age 51) has been thrift shopping since she was a little girl. Did you learn to thrift shop and up-cycle from your Mother? Thrift shopping and up-cycling are not skills taught at Schools.
I love these flips but especially the denim jacket. Did you have to heat set it? Did you ever invest in an iron or do you still use your curling iron LOL
Great question! Since the leather was thick enough to see the edges once they were glued on, I wanted all the edges of each square to be green. So they had to be cut before being painted!

yes exactly! it's a super fun alternative to getting them refinished and giving them a new life!

yes, my mom used to costume for theaters and so i would thrift with her and sit with her while she sewed!
oh my..... the second pair of shoes 🤣
they turned out SOO good!
I had no idea you can just paint leather shoes!
right?? it's such a fun little trick to know!!
This is super cool, would you mind crediting my jacket design? Thanks!! 😊
DONE 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love these flips but especially the denim jacket. Did you have to heat set it? Did you ever invest in an iron or do you still use your curling iron LOL
You don’t have to heat set it but it does help the design to last longer! You can watch my thrift flips to answer that question 😋
@@WellLoved
Just thought I'd tease you a little ❤️
have you sewn any old school slippers?
So talented.
Thank you!
Nice shoes!!!!

Brilliant!!
Thanks!!
You are Amazing!!!!
how sweet! thank you!
Hello fellow TH-camr / Reseller - I just wanted to drop a comment to show my support for you. Yes, I smashed that like button too!
thanks!!
Why didn't you paint the 2nd green color on long strips before cutting? Seems like it would have been easier and less messy. Cool projects.
Great question! Since the leather was thick enough to see the edges once they were glued on, I wanted all the edges of each square to be green. So they had to be cut before being painted!
Looking for a seamstress in Charlotte, if anyone knows someone. Thanks!
good luck finding one!!
Pretty clothes
Thank you!
Nice
thanks!
Super👍👍🌹💞
Thanks!
I feel like that type of paint is going to crack over time
that's actually what the fabric medium and the leather finisher are for - they keep the paint supple and malleable so it doesn't crack!
