Tip: shop off season. People typically clean out their closets and get rid of things that aren’t currently weather appropriate. I’ve scored great shorts, dresses and jackets/knits off season.
Some of my best scores have been in the off season or shoulder season ie. finding the best winter coats in October and November because people are pulling out their last season stuff and donating before buying a new one to replace.
Helpful tips: Just like you'd have a grocery list, have a thrift list with you of some of the tops things you're looking for. Example: Plaid skirt, white button down shirt, brown belt, oversized sweaters, high-waist jean. Another tip: for quality items that will last, look for higher quality fabrics like cotton, linen, silk, genuine leather etc.
I used to work at a Thrift store as a donation sorter, the best time for new item searching is 12 to 4pm, by then we out a majority or all the new thrift items for the day.
Great advice. I would add that the last few weekdays are the best because people clean out their closets on weekends. They seem to drop their donations off on Thursdays. Also, it is great to thrift after holiday weekends because longer weekends mean clean out projects.
I’d say that is true, however, because weekend are so busy there is usually not enough time to go through all the donations and put them in the store (speaking from experience). And as another tip, ask you secondhand store whether they receive new batches of clothing from a bigger sorting centre, and if so, which day of the week that is :) for us its always Wednesdays!
You nailed this video!! I am a self proclaimed “full time thrifter” and everything you said is what I LIVE by. Making a list of what you’re looking for is going to help manifest into actually finding it, that’s what I tell everyone- you MUST try to imagine finding what you’re looking for and 9/10 you’re going to find it. Also the denim hack- I taught myself to sew years ago and now I am able to tailor all my denim. The vintage fabrics and fits are tailor SO much better than anything made today. There is nothing more sustainable than repurposing what’s already here! Great video!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼🩷
HI! I HAVE A VIDEO IDEA FOR YOU: I think it would be cool if you did a challenge where you hit up different thrift stores that either aren't in your area, or that are in your area and you don't go to frequently so you can show how you navigate different thrift stores to find those gems that you are looking for
This thrift store doesnt look like a thrift store at all, the selections in this store is 100x better than a brand new clothes shop from where i am from.
I went to my closest goodwill recently and was surprised how many things I saw that I liked! As someone who shops for clothing at very few stores I loved the variety of styles they had, definitely going back next time I'm looking for something
This video takes me wayyyyy back because the first video I ever saw from you was your "beginners thrift guide" video back in 2019/2020 (I forget which year it was lol) and ever since then I've been hooked ❤👑✨
As someone else suggested; go with a list of what you are looking for. It really helps to keep from picking up random things that you don't need. I loved your tip of taking a tape measure and also to measure the waist size of jeans either around your neck or your arm. I had never heard of that. Happy New Year.
I also recommend to look through every single isle if u have time and look theough sizes that arent yours because things get misplaced all the time. Being a thrift store worker it has definetly changedd my experiences thrifting
This is one of the best videos I have seen in a long time! I have never Thrifted in my life, but have always wanted to be that kind of person that can find great classic items. Instead, my wardrobe is a mess of things that I bought at a whim And only worn once or twice. I am currently searching for thrift stores near me and making a plan to go this week! Thanks so much for the inspiration. Really really enjoyed this video.
I love floral sweater vest . I made a chocolate brown pull over vest with granny square bright turquoise center hot pink flower with green leaves corners. I just have finish sewing together and tucking tails.
Another way I like to see if pants would fit me is by wrapping them around my waist starting at the middle of my back and coming around towards my belly button. If they go past my belly button they’re probably too big! Hopefully that makes sense haha great video😊🤍
2024 Thrifting Queen!👸🏽👸🏽Thank you for the tips as always Haley!! I followed some of your tips when i go to thrift stores eepecially looking for the perfect high waisted jeans at the mens section and i scored a couple!❤️ we hope to have more thrift with me videos in 2024. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAM!🎉🎉🎉
I’ve recently gotten into thrifting a lot more than I did in the past but I have became more open to different styles and things I think I just haven’t always known where to look or how to pair certain things together from thrifts for the aesthetic I want at the time but I found this video for you today and I subscribed I loved this video and you have so many good tips! I never would have thought about the youth shoes fitting me or being able to wear certain men’s jeans and they fit or pull it off but I’m definitely inspired. Some of the things you found were so cute and you make a lot of things look so good I wouldn’t have normally been interested in so yeah my mind has opened more thank you 😊
Oh and also I am going to start checking on not just the sales days and weekends as normally I’ve only went to goodwill on the weekends but lately I’ve went into the goodwill 3 different times during the week and found so much more 😊
The top you are wearing is adorable and looks cool on you. Now as an older person if I put that top on it would look like I reached into the back of my of my closest or attic and hauled out an old top and it would just show my age. But if you are young like you continue to rock the grandma core.
2024 thrifting queens. I just tried the neck and elbow hack for all my jeans in my closet, and this is what I’ve gathered. If the jeans overlap when you put it around your neck it’s too big, if it just touches it’ll be the perfect fit and if it doesn’t meet it too small. Also I’ve found that the elbow doesn’t really work for me, all my jeans that my elbows fit perfectly into are too big, so I just do it to see if the jeans are gonna be too big. Hope this helps ❤❤
I love the video. especially loved the shoe tip on getting kids shoes. Thanks for even providing a chart. So helpful. 2024 thrifting queen looking forward to my next trip.
I will never buy pants I can’t try on. If there’s no dressing room at the thrift store My #1 thrifting hack is to find a stretchy long skirt. Put it over your current clothes and use it as coverage as you try on shorts pants and other skirts. I do this in the aisles or in a corner or if they have mirrors right in front of that.
You are just the BEST content creaor. Your videos are so enjoyable to wacth. Just the effort and imagination you put into editing is amazing! And also the outfit pinterest ideas>>>>>>> . I thrifted a grey V neck sweater and couple of weeks ago and I didnt know how to pair it with, but with your inspo pics I found THE outfit!! So thank you very much for your effort
6:55 ur right, wool and cashmere and kid mohair can be itchy. Though you know you found a keeper when it’s extremely soft. Anyone can sell natrual fibers but what really matters is how much care and time they took to weave it and how long the fibers are. Scratchy means low quality weave and soft is dang good quality
2024 Thrifting Queen!✨️ Thank you for all the advice and inspiration you give us, I love the videos and I also look for inspiration from the ideas you give for me when I go to Thrifting.
2024 Thrifting Queen! ✨ I've been a subscriber since 2019 and thank you so much Haley for being such an inspiration ❤️ I always look up to your style ever since and I can really tell that we have the same style to thrift. Thank you for sharing some tips, we love a queen that does not gatekeep! 🙌
I think the first vid of yours I watched was your thrifting guide and I fell in love and have been here ever since! 2024 Thrifting Queens and Kings haha.
Often times when I go to to the second hand store (that's what thrifting is in the Netherlands basically..) I often think the things I like are weird so I don't try them on. This is very inspirational to just do what you want and don't get influenced by gender :)
I found an ultra classy off white blouse with French cuffs! $5.89. I ordered cuff links. Also a Ralph Lauren blouse, brand new! I spend about 2.5- 3 hours every Tuesday bc our GW is 25% off. It's worth the time.
Getting pins to cinch my pants was a gamechanger for me,, i cant recommend it enough for small waist big hip girlies. The pins i have r very sturdy, big (7cm)and can pierce thru even my jeans, 10/10 (for those looking for a cheap and ‘dirty’ way to fix ur loose pants)
I so wish we had Red, White and Blue thrift here in Arizona 😢 The selection is SO good and the prices! I don’t like Goodwill anymore. Overpriced junk and they put the good stuff on their online store instead. I’m thrifting less and going to the smaller, independent thrift stores when I find them. Also antique stores are great! I use ThredUP the most because of selection and brands. 😎
I feel you. Watching other people thrift at awesome thrift store that are (thousand of) miles away, makes me thrifting jealous 😂 but it always inspires me to go out and find items near me. 😍 It's a balance!
In my country second hand shops exist only in big cities 😅 and most of them are in the center, people in rural areas or smaller towns do not appreciate second hand stores, people from bigger towns like it more...
Love your thriftiness! I just started a few months ago and I am obsessed. Thanks for inspiring me. I love your themed thrifting. Favorite so far was having Luxury styles thrifting.
Thank you so much Hayley, I really really enjoyed watching you go through all those amazing finds at your Thrift store. I know you probably don’t think that in the UK 🇬🇧 our Charity shop are so tiny and we never get thing’s like you do. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too
I’m going thrifting on Monday and I’m soooo excited bc this vid made me like a better thrifter sorry English isn’t my frost language so I might not make sense but thank u soo much for the tips I just subscribed ❤❤❤
Hi, I'm also in Florida..so happy I've found your channel ..I love thrifting..but always get overwhelmed, thank you for the tips ..something I always do when I go I wear leggings..which makes it easier to try my jeans 😊
Such great thrifting tips, but a lot of people don’t have thrift stores like this near them that have this kind of inventory. It’s not that they’re not looking!
I will say you can find gems at any thrift shop but some just have it and every trip is a major score. I love Madewell jeans there is a thrift shop that carries a ridiculous amount of the Madewell brand. It’s worth the 2 hour drive to Houston to always come home with at least 1 pair of $200 jeans for $7.99. I can’t count on another thrift shop for that kind of consistency. What makes the difference is the area of town the thrift shop it.
I really have a hard time with those hacks about seeing if jeans will fit with out a measuring tape. Because I feel like it only works with certain body types and a certain range of sizes.
2024 Thrifting Queen!! I love thrifting and I loved this video. I just learned so much about Levi jeans haha and I keep seeing them in thrift stores more and more. I would like to start recording my own thrifting vlogs if I can, what camera & mic do you use when you do these? just your phone? & I would love any tips on this :) seems a bit intimidating starting out and doing this in such public places.
NEW YEAR NEW THRIFT GUIDE ✨ if I missed any tips please share yours below so we can help eachother out and become THRIFT QUEENS together in 2024 👑 ❤️

Tip: shop off season. People typically clean out their closets and get rid of things that aren’t currently weather appropriate. I’ve scored great shorts, dresses and jackets/knits off season.
I LOVE doing this 👏🏼 I have a few videos thrifting in the wrong season and found so many great things!! ❤
My thrift store puts out items according to the season 👹👹👹
Yep. I also go to Florida in February….have found my summer wardrobe.
Some of my best scores have been in the off season or shoulder season ie. finding the best winter coats in October and November because people are pulling out their last season stuff and donating before buying a new one to replace.

Another tip: for quality items that will last, look for higher quality fabrics like cotton, linen, silk, genuine leather etc.
Yes so so good 👏 it cuts down your search so much if you know exactly what you’re looking for! And quality over everything ALWAYS ❤️
Great tips!happy new year to you and your sweet and family!😊
I used to work at a Thrift store as a donation sorter, the best time for new item searching is 12 to 4pm, by then we out a majority or all the new thrift items for the day.
Great advice. I would add that the last few weekdays are the best because people clean out their closets on weekends. They seem to drop their donations off on Thursdays. Also, it is great to thrift after holiday weekends because longer weekends mean clean out projects.

Such a fun idea - I might have to "steal" if for myself - thank you for sharing! 😎

YES! So many of you found me from that video 🥹 so much had changed since then! Thanks for being here for so long ❤️
i’ve loved that neck trick with pants for yeeeeears. even taught this older lady in hollister last week! i felt so helpful 😅
As someone else suggested; go with a list of what you are looking for. It really helps to keep from picking up random things that you don't need. I loved your tip of taking a tape measure and also to measure the waist size of jeans either around your neck or your arm. I had never heard of that. Happy New Year.
Everytime you find an item that is too big, I think "I'll take it!!!!" 😂 I like your picks and I probably a couple sizes bigger
Haha it’s like we’re shopping together I love it 😂🫶🏼
Absolutely Thrift Queens even at age 73!! Cheers from Oz 🤗🇦🇺❤️
Love this so much! ❤️

As always thank you Haley🙇🏽♀️

You should shift more towards a warmer highlight. Like a caramel/cooper
2024 thrifting queen!!!
2024 thrifting QUEENS. This was SUCH a good video! Also the hair cut is looking great :)
Aw yay thank you!! 🥹
I really have a hard time with those hacks about seeing if jeans will fit with out a measuring tape. Because I feel like it only works with certain body types and a certain range of sizes.
IKR. Better measure the waist of your best fitting pants you have at home b4 you leave the house. Use body parts if you don't have a tape measure.
If you have a muffin top or even a slight one, the neck trick does not work! It may work fine if you're not carrying any excess weight there.
Happy New Year, 2024 thrifting queen
2024 thrifting queens💚
2024 thrifting queen! ❤
