Which of These Plants is Brahmi?| The Brain Tonic | Brahmi and Gotukola | Health Benefits Toxicity • Which of These Plants ...
we gathered enough information about the health benefits of this plant and now I’m going to show you how I’m growing this plant at my home.
Brahmi is one of the easiest plants to grow. It is actually an aquatic or semiaquatic plant. It grows in marshlands, near river banks, or lakes, ponds and it is one of the very popular aquarium plants.
You can also grow Brahmi only in plain water with some added hydroponic solution or liquid fertilizers. Unlike many other plants, you can’t overwater these plants and kill them.
    Growing Media
You can use heavy clay type of soil to grow these plants but I have decided to take a different approach and grow them in coco coir. You must be wondering that coco coir will make the water muddy as it will float in the water. Using clay is a better choice here. I didn’t have the aquatic growing media so I just went ahead with coco coir and also not that I was having any fish in the same vessel. Also since it is still winter, I was not planning on growing these plants outside so it was important for me to have a clean growing media.
I had this beautiful fish tank gravel. After adding a layer of coco coir i covered that with this gravel. That way the growing media stayed near the bottom and gave me a sound base to insert the plants in.

No, it doesn't have to be in the water all the time. You can grow it in moist soil too.

After I sow your video I bring it to house. If I understand correctly it must have moist soil all time. This is the second plant which I have. The first one is not survive. : (

Hi, as I have mentioned in the video, here th-cam.com/video/Ahx55Pidz0o/w-d-xo.html Brahmi plants do well above 60°F-80°F (16-27°C).

Great video! I live in Austin, and I have just discovered brahmi! It’s such a fun plant! I’m just growing mine in a normal pot in the hot sun, and it seems so happy! I water it regularly, obviously. I bought it from Grower’s Exchange. I ordered a couple more and have tried planting it in our pond (formally our swimming pool). I’m thinking for winter I could pull it out of there and grow it in my sunny shower?! Who knows! I will say it does NOT seem deer proof, haha. My deer friends nibbled it pretty well before I moved it 😂 I trimmed my potted one and have thrown the cuttings loosely in the pond, as well. If it roots, I could probably pot it and have extras! I tried chewing some leaves, and yes, it’s bitter. VERY BITTER. 😂

Thanks for sharing! It grows prolifically in a lake near us and grows back every year after winter. Good luck with your plants.

I keep bacopa monnieri in some of my aquariums. Just recently I learned that it has health benefits and it's extracts are used as nootropic supplements. I'm curious about mixing it into salads. Would it be safe to eat it straight out of an aquarium? I figure that'd be considered being grown as aquaponics, from fish waste that's converted into nitrates.

Yes, Bacopa monnieri is a medicinal plant and edible vegetable. I've negligible knowledge about maintaining fish and tank. But I guess it is okay to consume the vegetables grown in fish tank as long as the fish food and tank water doesn't contain harmful cleaning chemicals, hormones, or antibiotics. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it can survive in water but if you want it to grow then you will have to use some aquatic plant fertilizer.

Hello madam can you give me details from you purchase the plant please. I purchase online but i receive weak 4 twigs almost dead. I try to cultivate but all dried and dead.

I purchased it from an online aquatic plant store and also from a local nursery once that sells mainly Asian plants. It is very common near lakes. You should ask the people who sell fish tank plants. They should definitely have it. Try in nearby stores first so that you can get good plants. I hope you find them soon.
