7 years ago, I was working graveyard shift in a warehouse in the industrial park of a small town near where I live. One night, about 8 months after I was hired, I was kind of working by myself and suddenly, my boss came up to me to let me know we got a new member of the team and there was a woman right beside him. I looked at her and she was very gorgeous and attractive. My boss introduced her to me. Her name was Kirstie. My boss told me to show her what we do and how the equipment works and showed her how we work in the area. She and I got along very well, then after a month or so, we became really good friends. But some time afterwards, she announced to our team she was pregnant and we congratulated her. But one night during her leave, I went home after my shift was over, I got a call from one of my coworkers with some heartbreaking news. Kirstie went into labor, but they had to do a c section. The doctors were able to save the baby, but Kirstie didn't make it. She died during the c section surgery. It turned into a morning of heartache for all of us. They played this song at her memorial. And even to this day, I still think of her when I hear this song. Her fiance and the baby moved away and I haven't seen them since and I'm hoping they're doing okay. I did'nt go to the burial, cause after seeing her lying in the coffin, I was just torn up, my friend Amy and I just left once the memorial ceremony was over. Amy too was wounded of Kirstie's passing. I will always remember you Kirstie. I miss you. RIP🙏
I was 16 years old when this came out in 1995... bought this on cassette so I could listen on my walkman with first love... one earphone for us each on the walk home. She passed on a couple of years later and I still keep that cassette in her honour... this was her favourite song, and I haven't heard it since her funeral in about 17 years. Thank you so much for the reminder =)
+David Maglioli thanks for asking David, yes, it's over half my life time ago now (I'm 37) and I have got a great partner. I do visit her grave most years on her birthday and run into her father, he's well into his 70's now and has never really recovered. I think it means a lot to him that I still keep her memory alive.

1995 was the best summer of my 10 year old life. Nirvana, Silverchair, Offspring, Green Day, Everclear, and Batman Forever. I loved the soundtrack then and still today and saw the movie that summer. So many memories. Everytime I put this on it's an instant nostalgia trip!

1995...that means I was 7 at that time this came out, wow! The movie didn't really catch my interest after the Burton films, however I remember still having this CD when I was in high school back in the early 2000's. "Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me" was my initial favorite alongside "There is a Light" and "Smash it Up" (love the rock), and I usually skipped over this one entirely deeming it too slow for my taste. Now, I couldn't tell you precisely when I decided to actually stop and listen to it, but I do remember thinking there was something about it. It's soothing in a way to me, like being in water or seeing different shades of blue. It's funny, I thought of this one out of the blue the other day when I was going over old songs I want to add to a growing 90's playlist. This one is definitely being added. Thank you for sharing it here, and reminding me just how amazing it is to hear it after all this time. We have the CD here still (least, I hope so); gonna have to go find mine now so I can copy the files--it's been too long!
Christina Wolfe-You should check out the rest of Eddi Reader's work, she's really talented though her work's usually very different to this, much more folk based. She's a big name here in my home country of Scotland so I've grown up on her music. I've even seen her perform live 4 times as my dad's a huge fan of hers, she has an amazing voice.

It's a beatiful song, but I think that this song was better if Batman was played by Michael Keaton. I think this song is tuned with Michael Keaton's Batman incarnation. Keaton's Batman incarnation thinks that bacause he's Batman, he cannot have love, bacause if he has a woman who loves him, she could be in danger.
I'd argue it's fitting for Kilmer's as well. The whole movie he's struggling with the duality of his two personas and almost quits being Batman to be with Chase.
