I'm envious. The Prophet 5 is my dream synth to own as well. Glad you got yours in good working condition! I'm sure that was a lot of research and effort.
intheblink thanks!, I almost gave up on it and went to a p6, but after rigging it up enough to make sound, I couldn’t let it go. Was pretty scary to start pulling boards and soldering stuff but I got more comfortable as I learned the instrument. I haven’t even bothered putting the screws back in yet haha, it seems like every few days I gotta open her up to fix something lol.
Operator! This is an emergency! Nice that you've finally got your Prophet-5 back from the shop! Sucks that it needed more tlc, but the sound is worth it!
Adam Borseti hahah if by shop you mean my dining room table then yes! I have to order a few more envelope chips as the older ones are “duller” sounding than the newer replacements. But she is alive and working!
I want a mini so bad. Or an odyssey would suffice :) The Taurus sounds excellent but not many features a full fledged mono provides. At least it nails the moog sound.
Fantastic Demo. The Funk is strong in you. 😃👍🏼. Please show us more about the power supply. And a big Yes, please do a sound design video 😃. Would love it. Your MS cover is awesome. This is the best P5 demo on youtube. Love it
AnalogSynthMuseum thank you, I actually discovered the song through the mix in your channel. I listened to that on repeat while patiently hunting this synth down haha.
Wow ! I'm quite impress' how groovy is you playing ! Cover Girl from the Network is one of my favorite single from this era, and you nailed it ! It is even more remarquable because the original song used a Oberheim OB, and you managed to have the same punchy sound from a Prophet !
@@SergioGarcia-jg3yy Hi, thank you ! Actually, I discovered The Rippingtons only few years ago, which is surprising since i like jazz fusion/smooth jazz and some of the people who played on this group, such Gregg Kakuras and Kenny G... also i like cats and arts (and thoses Rippigtons's LP cover stunning on this point !), so it is perfect from my standpoint ^^ Cheers from France !
The overture is Midnight Star, right? The second has a brass from Prelude Records like... (So cool!) I think you could play D Train - You're The One with those sounds... WOW, really cool!
Amazing oldschool funk vibe here! Great playing too! Very funky, very tight - it takes you back to those good old days when real music was the mainstream and funk was the king! If you like, you can check out my "funky" synth demos on my new channel too! Thanks a lot and please keep the funk alive!:-)
I cannot for the life of me figure out what you would call that sound in the background. I hear it in funk all the time. That constant, slow sort of droning set of notes. If anyone can help 🙏
Hi Michael, do you mean the "spongy" brass chords with the slow filter attack, or the little runs i'm playing with 5ths before slamming the B major? or the B major itself.
@@RAGINxxXxxCAJUN Easy! Scale 0-10 Filter Section: cutoff 3 (to taste) env 10, attack 4ish, sustain and decay around 5 to taste (not that important if you play staccato), release 5. Amplifier section: attack 0, sustain 10, decay 10, release 5. Oscillators are just saw tooths slightly detuned. Add resonance to taste, that's where the "wetness" of the sound comes from. Start around 2/3 and go from there.
I use vprom, its an emulation of the Linn lm-1, but can load the eeproms of many other famous drum machines. The tuning and effects are really where the magic comes from (gated reverb, compression, etc).
Hi, I'm not quite sure what your asking. If your regarding the sound, thats unison mode with the second oscillator tuned a 5th higher. Believe its saw tooth and pulse wave.
Roger Gentile hi roger, sorry for the long delay. My friend has actually posted another supply up for sale on eBay. In his listing, you can see all of the details about it. I highly recommend it, he originally made it just for me but it has been so reliable I encouraged him to list one for sale. www.ebay.com/itm/153849386790
Thanks Wes! Yes, I've always wanted a rev 2 but so unrealistic (and unreliable). Most of the tracks in the era featured a rev 3. Even the rev 3s can be problematic, but mine has a newly designed power supply a friend did for me. This thing is a funk machine!
@@mrWesStyles That's awesome, its such a great synth with a wide sonic pallet, you'll have a blast with it. They'll test your patience every once in a while but that's the nature of the beast.

That synth brass sound is so unmistakable. Absolutly nailed it .
How to get that brass?
Midnight Star & Johnny Kemp! Perfect for tonight
Brilliant, brings back those classic 70’s & 80’s funk sounds.
Only analog sounds
God bless the Prophet 5. I think it’s my favourite synth just for the bass sound alone. So exotic and warm its sound.

This is insanely good
The Prophet 5 and Minimoog were heavily used on R'n'B tracks during the 80's. You should show us your cover of Midnight Star's Operator
