I am at the retailer on the waiting list for new delivery, being impatient ;) Thanks, Martin, for this marvellous demo. Many people critisizes the DX integration, as going back to pthe past and not for new modern voices, but for me it’s the main feature for upgrading from Genos to Genos 2

The "FM sound generator" in Genos2 looks like a lie. We had most of these sounds in the form of expansion pack. It is not possible to create and edit sound even to the extent of "Reface DX". So where are the "FM" algorithms!!!! Just some sampled sounds

@@bmiveh yes you are right about that because you cannot program your own sounds but it has the fm x engine from the modx but you have no access to it’s operators.
Man! I really need to learn some Jazz and swing :) Genos really shines in these genres.
Les sonorités sont améliorés cela s'entend,mais l'architecture des styles n'a pas vraiment évoluée, toujours beaucoup de styles établis comme les (Psr/Tyros/Genos 1)... Yamaha aurait pu mettre au point une nouvelle technique d'approche pour créer des styles plus vivant. C'est juste un avis mais il est vrai que par moment on a l'impression d'entendre les anciens claviers Yamaha.

Yamaha produced brothers of genos 2 just after months. Still korg hasn't made brothers of pa 5x💀
It is absolutely like a DAW; it has thousands of different voices, comparable to a DAW. The older Yamaha keyboards (1989), which had 100 voices, are peanut compared to this one..!
please, in a future firmware update add MIDI CC11 & CC7 expression to control velocity switching for string, brass, and woodwind instruments. A guitar strum mode accessible via the harmony function using either keyswitches or the joystick to strum guitars (like modern vsts) would be incredible & make styles a breeze for those of us who are accustomed to DAWs. It's also time for a clavinet & rhodes section equivalent to the organ flute & and organ world of the Tyros 5. Also, the ability to layer two ensemble voices or two instruments per part for a thicker section would be great to. I have loved & supported this range since the PSR-530
It's been 20 years since Yamaha introduced the amazing Tyros2. And then 20 years later came the Genos 2, which... sounds pretty much the same.
These new styles on _this_ keyboard should be in the Yamaha PSR-E383/EW325 and the YPT-380 when it comes this year.

Incredible stuff. The price is eye-watering, but the results are incredible.
I'm having a difficult time figuring out who buys this though. A one-man (or woman or whatever) band always seems kind of corny, even with an instrument as versatile as this. Big-time musical acts usually have multiple musicians to form a full band. If you're playing weddings or cruise ships or whatever, can you really afford a US$6,000 keyboard? Is the mindset different in other parts of the world?
I also would wonder if this makes any sense in a studio where you can expect to bring in other musicians, not to mention computers. This seems to be geared for live performances. Who exactly is using one of these in the real world? Someone must be because they keep selling them.
I totally agree with you. I always find it a bit 'sad' to play with styles (although I really enjoy it), as its a little bit Johnny-no-makes making himself feel like he can play an instrument when 3/4ths the work is done by the style pattern. I agree.

You realize most of this demo is pre-programmed and rehearsed. Playing melodies off a fake sheet is what most pros do. Same demo quality over at Korg, Kurzweil, Nord, Roland and Ketron. This is literally like so many other arranger demos by the hired pros paid to represent each company respectively.
Put in Guitar Mode and Loop Slicer or time stretch. For the people who make their own rhythms, this is the most important thing. As long as you don't have that, I'll stick with Ketron. Although I would like to switch.
The most advanced arranger keyboard from Yamaha! All drum kits sounds live because of Round-robin Revo Drums technology and the new "Ambient Drums", so you can alter the "Ambiance Depth" parameters to make the drums sounds "wetter" and more "live". Not only that, a new multi-band compressor type with each band has separate compression parameters and also, a new "REVelation" Reverb that has a nice analog-like sounding reverb and more lush thanks to stereo output. Not only that, it has "Modulation" parameters so it can sound more "analog" or suitable for ambient music as well. Sadly, the drawbacks of this keyboard are the lack of electric guitar sounds (it is almost the same), not many new effects (only 2), and no deep parameter editing for FM voices (yeah, Genos 2, the first arranger that has a FM-engine sound).
Too sad, I have one but can’t play professional like this. The way how he plays is like a different keyboard, so clear and detail in playing.
Man! just keep practicing and you'll get there. It's all simply a matter of practice.
The first demo I heard of Martin Harris was about Yamaha Tyros, and now, yet again, he has given an excellent demo of Yamaha Genos2. Good job!

Why Yamaha don't make the indicator from Intro to Main A on the style control blinking when it is in the last bar of intro so that players can know that they must be ready to perform...

Is is a fantastic Arranger Keyboard Go Team Yamaha I've had every Top end Arranger work stations since Tyros 1 and that was 21 yrs ago
Absolutely brilliant demo which shows this keyboard at its best without the negative reviews put on TH-cam by individuals trying to get you to purchase their add-ons saying certain voices do not match their high standards. Once again, first rate demo, now I know I will have to upgrade my Genos.

I bought yamaha genos 4 years ago. I waited for an update to give this instrument a decent or even a bearable sequencer but nothing. Even with Genos 2.0 firmaware update you did nothing on that. You can even export multitrack so we can export our creation and mix it properly on a DAW. I really dont understand how a flagship “wprkstation”doesnt have a reall sequencer. You can only do midi/audio recording and step edit the midi messages which is like trying to create chiptunes music but even harder. You now have Genos version 2, so I dont believe that we all the owners of the first version will get any new firmware with new features. I really try to sell my keyboard to get anything from AKAI or even ROLAND Fantom or even a small stand alone groovebox in order to be able to produce music DAWless. Please forward a message to product managers to hep them understand that a workstation means DAWLess production and with Genos or even montage this is not possible at all.
Learn how to use your Genos man, you can create some insane scores from it. If you don’t like it it’s not for you. You can hook it up to any daw and control pretty much any midi parameter on the keyboard. If I can reap some insane stuff with my sx900, then imagine what the genos 2 can do. A bad workman always complains about his tools.
The sequencer is utter crap, typical yamaha fiddly. I have a love hate relationship with my genos as it does sound good but the OS is clunky the facia layout illogical as to a players needs live.
These people don’t know how to use this it has everything you need on board no need for an external DAW.
A grand piano performer: My left hand is in great sync with my right hand as my brain is split in half.
An arranger performer: My left hand is so busy doing tons of other things while in great sync with my right hand so I think my brain is split in quarters.

Bought it the very first day that it came out (November 15th) as a replacement for my Genos. So far, I'm enjoying playing this incredible machine, along with my Yamaha Montage 8 and Montage m8x
This is the best home keyboard that has ever been manufactured.
I also own a korg pa5x in 88 key version, and I should admit that Yamaha Genos2 sounds are superior and the best that I've ever heard on any home keyboard.
Wow exact opposite of my experience. I think the Korg Pa5x sounds better in many areas over the Yamaha Genos 2. In fact, a studio in Los Angeles did a blind sound test with the Genos 2, Korg Pa5x and Ketron Event with a pretty big audience listening and voting. Majority picked the Korg Pa5x, especially when it came to the styles. IMO both are pretty amazing and sound great, but the styles on the Korg Pa5x really shine over the other two.
@jakesanchez3970 Completely agree on styles, I own both Genos2 and pa5x 88, and for sure korg is away better when it comes to styles, Pianos, Eps and strings.
@@synth.s then in what is genos better?? I for first time heard finally high quality keyboard GEnos ! I heard the PSX 920 it still feels cheap!! Genos on other hand sound very professional what you are looking for.

Why can’t Yahama make a keyboard similar and built like a kawai mp7se, and with drawbars and an actual good nord like action for people like us that can’t afford a nord, and listen to customers and make one that’s around 1500 bucks with a bigger screen like on the Casio px 560? Why does Yahama just build every keyboard out of plastic? That’s why i stay with my Kawai. Please yahama suprise me on your next built and use aluminum alloy or metal on the chassi, and make a light weight affordable board
Why can’t they realize that the yc88s organ drawbars and lesli was an epic fail? Why can’t Yahama listen to a real quality lesli, and sample that?

registrations from genos 1 does not work on genos2 so is not the same.. other reverb, more voices and styles, that are the same changes like from one Tyros to another
its ultimate cheese... great for home players to play their fav tunes, but of course not for pro keys players.
A US$6,000 keyboard is not for professionals? This costs significantly more than a Montage.
It is only for professionals, just a different type of professional. This is for playing a gig without the need of a full band. Think weddings, cruise ships, coffee shops, etc. etc.

I wouldn't waste my time on too long a paragraph. They ain't listening. I've had a ticket out on minor problem that I since resolved myself on Yamaha support for over two weeks and have not heard a peep from customer support except the autoreply i got when I sent it in.

Maybe she confused "workstation" with "TV".
For the price, the sounds are garbage. The worst sax I’ve ever heard and there have been much better recreated and sampled sounds that can be edited and tweaked. I felt like I was listening to the backing tracks of a Tom & Jerry cartoon. So awful. Will never buy.
Genos 2 is good, but the rhythm guitars are very bad. There is no Guitar Mode and you can hear it!! Yamaha has been sleeping for years

Pay for the royalties and put real styles in there! Otherwise, just go for generic ones instead of that rubbish! And when are you gonna learn how to fully edit a style without erasing a part of it first?? Yamaha sucks!!!
