    Don’t buy sonos! They have no customer service and they update their app CONSTANTLY and every update shuts down your audio system. It’s a nightmare! Don’t buy Sonos crap!!!

      @airetheaterdesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Here's what might help.
      1) Turn auto updates ON. If these aren't on, you may lose functionality when Sonos OR the app companies (Pandora, iHeart, etc.) perform updates.
      2) Call customer service early or late during their business hours. We have noticed that customer service went down a tick during the pandemic for a number of reasons. Hopefully this will get better once life gets back to normal.

      We're going to be adding a "Part 2" to this video. These three points are really more for our clients where we have installed and optimized their networks. However, for the general public, you may have network limitations that can cause issues. Here's some tips.
      1) Guest networks don't work.
      2) WiFi extenders WILL cause problems...especially if they have a different name than your main network.
      3) Mesh networks can be problematic. Eero is the exception. Use their PRO or PRO6 models and you shouldn't experience issues.
      4) If you have an older Sonos system it may only connect initially via 2.4 Ghz. If you are using a mesh network, turn off 5Ghz to connect.
      5) If all else fails call Sonos and have them run a diagnostic.
      We've sold 100s of Sonos systems and have very few issues but the above points are where we see problems with systems we don't sell.

      Call Sonos. It happens somewhat frequently where when you are attempting to pair speakers with a sub where those particular speakers can be out of range of a connection signal. In these cases, it isn’t always reliant on Wi-Fi… It’s reliant on the connection to the sub. Sonos may be able to see this with a diagnostic once you call them. It took us a long time to figure this out when this first came up for us with a Sonos amp and sub long ago. Calling Sonos gave us this insight.

      What music app is it with? Spotify, Apple Music, etc.? If your services work with one app but not another, it is normally a permissions problem. In most cases, we've seen where someone changed a password and this causes the problem. If this isn't the case, call Sonos, get a diagnostic to them and they can "see" what is going on.

      If you are referring to trying to go to websites, watch videos, etc., it could be that your WiFi network is insufficient. What type of WiFi router do you have? Try playng Sonos and doing other things on your phone like you mentioned. If you have the problem again, run a Speedtest IN THAT SPOT and see what your download/upload speeds are. Chances are your speeds are very low and this is causing the problem. You can also call Sonos and they can "see" this remotely.

    Same here
    I’m stressed out because my 4 months old Sonos Roam is not working as I’ve been expected to work, and this is the second unit that I have. It often cuts out using AirPlay, it cuts out using Bluetooth, Apple Music keeps cutting out or skipping songs, Alexa gets unresponsive quite often and it disappears from my controller. I’m sick of being told that it’s my Wifi network problem, it clearly isn’t, all other devices in my network are working fine, my iPhone 11, my iPad Pro, my HP Laptop computer, my Amazon Echo 4th gen, my brother’s Xbox Series X, and the rest of other devices such Smartphones, Computers, Xbox etc. I tried doing factory resets to my Sonos Roam and reboot my network hardware multiple times, but still the issue persists. Also, Sonos technical support is so unresponsive here in Mexico, and they don’t seem to be interested on help me out, so If I don’t find an effective solution to these issues, I’ll probably be returning it soon

    • @airetheaterdesigns
      @airetheaterdesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We commmented to you earlier that Bluetooth is the worst protocol to use and that using Airplay is one of the worst methods as well. We then recommended using WiFi only and going away from Airplay. You then said it works fine when using WiFi and Spotify. When you are using BT you aren't using WiFi. I would only use BT when you have to (ex: taking it to the beach).

      @josemanuellastra2488 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@airetheaterdesigns I tested yesterday with Bluetooth and it worked fine, no audio cut outs at all. It’s more likely that my unit has a firmware issue, all other speakers always worked fine. It’s very difficult for me to get it fixed because Sonos Support here in Mexico is so unresponsive and unreliable, they never take the calls and as soon as they get into the chat, the interaction gets disconnected without any reason, and I run out of patience to wait for a responce, so sadly, there is no way!.
      The only thing I can do is play music through Spotify Connect, it usually works stable and rock solid, but I don’t like to deal with shuffle playback as I have Spotify Free

    Rubbish!
    I thought this would tell me how to RECONNECT my speaker after it is no longer appearing on my list of products! 🙄

      It does for many of our clients. Pay attention to the notes that talks about this being for our EXISTING clients where we already set it up correctly. Check out our 2nd video for the general public.

    My experience with Sonos: the setup is impossible. Whoever is in charge of their software engineering should be fired. I don't know how this Play 1 sounds, because I can't get it to play any music - I'm Network+ certified and I program network applications for a living.

      A Play 1 is pretty ancient. Thoughts...are you trying to connect it to 5Ghz? Depending on its serial number and when you tried this, it may not work as 5Ghz capability was just added recently via an update for this legacy piece.
      It could also just be defective...it is old.
      I would try calling Sonos. This is normally a 10 minute deal so if it doesn't set up quickly, there is something going on that their diagnostic may uncover.
      P.S. Try 2.4Ghz for the win.

      @@airetheaterdesigns I will make sure I'm using the 2.4Ghz ssid, but I believe I tried that already. I keep getting some error (Error 9) when I'm forced to "update the app" (which I think means update something inside of the speaker because my phone app is already up to date; who knows the whole thing is so complicated). I have called Sonos and was on a support call with them for over an hour. They told me the Play 1 should work, but they're supposed to get back to be with elevated support.
      It's the most overly complicated system I've worked with. I ended up getting one of my speakers (not a Play 1) going and it needed the app installed and configured (which took several minutes) just to use the line in! After all that, the thing can't even play music from my network file server where all my music is. While every other IoT device I have just connected to a network and just worked, Sonos needed everything to be just right to work and then it has almost no networking capability. All I can see that it connects to is the Sonos servers. I would need to have all my music on my phone or in Sonos or something.
      I bought six speakers total with my home and I'm interested in selling all six if you or anyone else is interested. I'll price to sell. I won't be using them.

    Sonos is pure garbage! Endless problems with my system. Speakers not showing up. Speakers disappearing and then need deactivating. Paired stereo speakeasy not playing in synch. One speaker in a pair stops playing. Not being able to turn off music because the speaker doesn't appear in the list. And worst of all, they phase out older entirely functional spelares (like Apple) and force you to buy new speakers. I hate Sonos so much!

      Not to mention the entirely garbage app. It takes several seconds to pull up the speakers. And when you leave the app and return it has to rebuild the list again making its annoying to work efficiently in the app. Volume changes can take seconds to take effect. My phone doesn't list the same speakers as my computer (when some are missing).

      Take a look at our 2nd video that addresses systems we didn't set up. Most of the time when people experience what you're describing, you either have too many WiFi access points OR you need to set up a static/reserved IP. See in the below starting at around 5:20.
