      I want to challenge you, grab the nicest android phone you have and download the Sonos. Unfortunately there is no comparison. It’s pretty much bricked my system. Because the app crashes regularly and I’ve lost my alarms and I used to use the queue. There’s no chromecast, no google assistant, and if it weren’t for Spotify premium I’d have no way to play audio to my speakers 🤦🏼‍♂️

      Can you do somerhing to help us brand new sonos customers? I just bought my first piece an Arc, and I can't even get it to finish registering to the app. What good is a new app if I can't even get through the opening set up process to see the rest of the app?

      Trueplay don't work with new Sonos App.

      Or... instead of tossing thousands of dollars in product, maybe just download the apk file for version 70, the most previous version before the UI change and disable app updates within the app and wait until an announcement is offered.

    Since the update my system is now unusable. Constant error messages, cannot add music services, cannot stream from my phone. Total disaster.

      i just installed speakers around the house before the app update and they are now just useless bricks. The alarm feature is still broken. useless

    Tbh, this has got me rethinking Sonos. The fact overnight they can just make a mess of everything. Last year had the sound issue, now this! All this "coming back soon" isn't really good enough for me after spending my hard earned money (2x beam, sub, 3x play1, 2x play 3) and I have no idea what mess they are going to do next!

      Yup same here, I have a huge amount of money invested in Sonos products throughout my home - and now I feel like an idiot and should have just bought traditional audio equipment given what has happened this month. I guess for my Android devices, I have at least been able to down-date via APK - too bad for my iPhone unfortunately - but how long before they update the firmware and the old app just stops working?

      If they can overnight pull the rug from under your feet by completely changing the app, I can't trust them. I wanted to buy Sonos, but they showed how irresponsible they are. No, I wont be buying expensive hardware that requires certain software to run, and you mess with it just because. An app like this needs to be solid, consistent, predictable. Even if no functionality is lost and you are forced to re-learn a new UI just for playing damn music in your house is horrible. And the fact that nobody caught such a stupid idea in development shows me they fundamentally can't be trusted.

      I've had many problems with the new app and currently one of my two Play 5 speakers simply won't work with the app at all! I have to use Airplay to get any sound from it. This app release has been a disaster. I think Sonos should allow users to go back to the previous app until all the problems with the new app are solved.

      I totally agree, their original app was simple, easy to navigate menus and "just worked" -- did what it was supposed to.

    uninstalled, installed the old app apk, disabled automatic app update....
    first time i am really mad at sonos....
    no alarm... are they nuts? why no beta?

      Agree, somebody (or many) made a mistake. Own up to it, but the old application back up and take down this mess, and go back to the drawing board. They say "if its not broken don't fix it", and even more important..... if its not a better application (and actually works) then by god don't deploy it..... Oiy vie Sonos! Look at all the complaints, are you deaf?

      Can't control what is playing on my watch anymore either - which leaves me fumbling with the awful new app on my phone every time I want to change volume, pause or skip.

    No mention of Music Library paths removed and any attempt to add back returning error 913. In other words, cannot use Music Library.

      When selected it only plays one song, after that it stops. I have to open sonos app, select music provider and so on..

      I'm thinking this route as well, what they have done without the possibility to downgrade to the S2 app is nuts. Not something we expect from a company like SONOS. We have zero control over our products.
      And promising it will come back later is b***t even using your local library on a NAS is disappeared for the new APP, this is what I call idiot...

      Some of us have thousands invested even 10’s of thousands so not so easy to abandon SONOS. That said - it can be done over time.

    No True Play. No Audio Compression settings. No play queue management. "System not found" after every single time the app's been minimised requiring restart. Got to hit back button X (up to 10) times to get back to home screen to search or change services (bring back tabs PLEASE!) Only the first 20-30 tracks of playlists actually load into the queue. Play queue takes 10-15 seconds to load every single time you return to it. Selecting item from Search History only brings up results for the last service you sesrched in (got to start a new search if you want to switch services.) I constantly adjust EQ so really miss quick access. What an almighty mess! Thank heavens I left the "old, unimproved" app on one of my phones!

      I found a fix for true play .. what you need to do is play a song out of your sonos app either apple play , TH-cam music, Spotify etc and pause the song . Then go to true play and do the set up it works . Let me know how u made out !

      the work around to get true play : play a song from your Sonos app . Apple play or whatever app is on Sonos. Pause the song 15 seconds into play. Then go to true play and start tuning. That worked for me.

    It's completely fucked that they broke all this shit and are leaving people hanging for a whole month. They can say they'll be more aware in the future, but this is the 2nd time they've blindsided their customer base like this.

    I'm a very tech savvy person and I literally can't get music to play since the update. I have been beside myself with Sonos since getting a new modem, it has never worked consistently since then despite dozens of attempts to set back up. It works, then stops.
    Now this. I have a pretty high stress career and this is the last thing I need when I'm trying to relax with music when I get home at the end of the day. The fact that I have as a Saturday project to figure out how to get basic functionality from an app update--ridiculous.

    I believe somebody very high up in the company needs to get a little Elon treatment. A company this size should be embarrassed to turn out a product with so many flaws. One has to wonder what’s going on. I’m very sad, as I am a huge Sonos user and a stockholder. Considering selling my stock. Really makes me concerned about the management of a company that would allow something like this to be released, especially since this is not the first time they’ve released an update with major flaws.

    Am i missing something, when you have a number of rooms grouped, there doesn’t appear to be a mute option other than dragging the volume to zero

      Agree. Plus it seems that the new app just randomly selects one speaker to always be selected even after I set up specific speaker groups. The goddam Guest Room always comes back on whenever I change a song or playlist. Not very nice to my “Guests” who may be sleeping in that room while I want to listen in a different room. Really bad.

    I work at a BB store - I am the SONOS go to. I sell a lot of it BUT I now hesitate to enthusiastically tell a customer how easy the system is to control. The hardware rocks and has for a decade plus. The worst is - I can’t even say - ‘Hey, SONOS rolled out a new app. It’s not fully baked so just download the old one” This is FUBAR at it’s best. What happened to beta - no one noticed this? Really!
    On a personal level I will not upgrade any device. My better half would kill me if she had to use this half back catastrophe. Come on SONOS this is a FAIL. The only saving grace is you stepped up and took responsibility. Oh, one more thing. Where the hell did you get your developers from? Your HR recruiters need training or your contractors need firing.

      Sonos should carefully examine the finances of their app development team. The only thing that comes to mind is industrial sabotage. I can think of no other sensible reason for this mess. The app is not even an acceptable beta version.

    My Beam Gen 2 loses connection to my TV when it's been switched off for more than an hour.
    Is this a new app bug, or how can I fix this?

    It might be just me but since the update my Roam which I leave on on the doc is really temperamental and doesn’t always show or drops out on the app. Also my move and roam don’t seem to show on airplay on Spotify 😢😢

    Not acceptable that your local library is no more available. That was the reason why many of us were started in the first okay with SONOS. This is clear software which is not sufficient tested before releasing, this is not corresponding the rules of software development...

    Hey guys, can you help? I am facing two major issues with new Sonos app. I have 11 zones / rooms and I can only play one song at a time. If I want to start playing another song simultaneously in another zone / room the first one is stopping (I am using Spotify). Secondly all my Sonos Playlists are gone. I have only Spotify Playlist available and Sonos? How to solve these issues? Best

    I use the 'Instant Tone Controls' ALL THE TIME .... Depending on what I am listening to. 80% of the time, I use my Sonos gear to listen to a LOT if Different Radio Stations. Most of which have Heavy / Compressed BASS ! ! ... I use the EQ Controls to BOOST the Treble ..... This Is a 'Game Changer' for me ..... If it is not Re-Instated ( B4 the end of 2024 ) ... then I WILL be Binning ALL of My Sonos Gear ...

    Thanks for the update. I have found another issue not connected with the app. I have an arc, sub gen 3 and era 300 as surrounds. When I play Dolby labs on Apple music for the channel test 7.1 the rear up firing do not work. Sounds only comes from the front. I have to remove surrounds and then add again for it to work correctly. But after a day it stops working again. Anyone else experience this and any fix for it. Makes me think Atmos on movies must also be impacted

    Thanks sonos, you have destroyed my simplistic turntable / tv sound system setup. I think this is the end of my sonos home system, it only took 12 months. By the time you fix this i will have bought into something else. Good luck (y)

    It’d be nice if Sonos would allow Dolby Atmos music to play through airplay without having to go through the app.

    I can't even get my 3 rooms to be visible in the app after this latest update. I have to power cycle my speakers like 5 times just to get them to show up for a few minutes. Then if I leave the house and come back they have magically disappeared again.

      I have this issue with my Roam which I also use for a white noise machine for my 6 month old. So frustrating as it cuts out and wakes him up every single time!

      Did you try doing a factory reset on your speakers? That worked for me when I was experiencing this kind of behavior.

      Is waiting the best thing to do whilst they get these issues sorted or do I have to factory reset everything?
      It’s gonna be an absolute nightmare if I have to reset every piece of Sonos I have.

    On a recent update to the app, sono included Apple Lossless audio. I didn’t think lossless can be delivered via Bluetooth headphones?

    What's going on with this new app , I have no control to my sub (ITS A REL SUB ON A REL ARROW WIRELESS ) the system is on and it's all working but the app is not picking it up. I have no controls to it at all I can't even play my music and turn the sub of without unplugging it

    I updated and cannot use my system cannot connect my new amp to my network that I just got! I cant seem to connect my boost anymore. I just reset all 15 zones in my house and now I cannot get anyof them to connect. So pissed

    Newbie Sonos question.
    Does the alarm management include setting timers? I just got the Roam 2 as my first Sonos device so I don't know what features existed before. But whenever I try to set a timer via "Hey Sonos" it just says to check the app.
    I don't have Alexa nor Google assistant installed if that's a factor, but I would hope it isn't.
    Also I have the Sonos app installed on my Android phone and my wife's iPhone, don't know if I should have done that or not.

    Having real trouble using Alexa on my Sonos move since the new app and me updating my network. It just shows as offline. I have tried all suggested fixes I could see online with no success. One suggested deleting Alexa and the reinstalling it but for the life of me I cannot see how I do this as it does not appear on my list of installed voice assistants but if I click on add voice assistant it comes up as already added with not option to delete. Going round in circles here, can anyone suggest anything?

    The connection to the system needs to be changed. Im so afraid for my Sonos to disconnect from the power source because reconnecting it back takes so long. It’s very slow and glitchy. I had to use Ethernet on my arc to connect it to my two era 300s and sub mini. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to get the integration seamless. You pay for such expensive speakers only to struggle to connect them together.

    well ive updated the app on ipad pro, but i had actually search for the sonos app to see the update option (no automatic app update). However no firmware update. I can see the alarm now at least, but i cant turn off or edit . it just doesnt save. when i select add new i can see the screen flicker but nothing.

      You have to update the app from the App Store as well as the Sonos system.

      There is a site mentioned on the Sonos community site. I used it and rolled everything back to 16.1 it works for me. I am not sure of the site's security but I was desperate. So far so good.😊

    Not possible to group old play:1 with newer play:5 and beam 2 (the latter two will group seamlessly). And used to be able to edit individual sound levels with a tap on the volume bar, that would reveal the individual speakers and their levels plus the ability to mute (also gone w the update 🙄)

    In my view, all of this is a step in the wrong direction. The Sonos app should prioritize hardware first, making it easy to see the status of what’s playing, where it's playing, volume levels, codecs, and quality at a glance.
    We also need a widget to quickly check hardware status without opening the app. Information like Atmos, Dolby Digital, PCM, and other formats should be visible quickly, especially since none of Sonos' products have screens or indicators.
    Personally, I always play music through the original app of the service. It's the one place I go, no matter where I am, because it has all the features I need. It's much easier to stick to that one app whether I'm at home, in my car, or walking around.

    Why does everything have to be quicker, I was able to access everything within seconds with the last app. While I appreciate your help with this video I do not know what Sonos are going to have to do to retain my support as it is at rock bottom just now. It would be flippant for me to say that I hope they go down the pan but that is how I feel just now but I am left with thousands of pounds worth of Sonos products in my home so I really hope that this is fixed and that they learn a lesson from this, strangely enough I have just been sent an email in the last few days asking me to sign up for a new product which I suspect is their new headphones, normally I would have been pre ordering them but I think I’ll take a rain check on this and continue with my cheap Sony cans for now. So disappointed with Sonos.

    My sub won’t connect, my ERA 300 won’t set up as surrounds. My play ones say they’re connected and needs updated but app won’t allow me to sign in to update them. They are all on the same system but I have to reset the app in order to play a different speaker, I can only play one speaker at a time. I have bigger issues than an alarm clock
    and volume numbers. Again the app destroyed my gen 2 sub and
    all I’m offered is 30% off towards a new product. Ridiculous

    Sonos should never of released this sh*t! Why not get it working perfectly before releasing an absolutely useless application and updating it in staggered updates it’s completely unacceptable. I know at least 6 people who have turned their back on Sonos.

    can't even get the app to update and can't use the old app either. No music at all here after a router change the same week ask sono did their updates. Why would they update before it is developed.

    You should also note that some of the settings for the "PORT" are missing, such as Line-Out completely gone, No Line-In Auto Play, Fixed / Variable Volume gone... What a mess

      Hi, this has now been updated! You'll need to update both your Sonos app and your Sonos system and then you be able to find alarms and make changes. Once updated go to settings then manage. Hope that helps :) Lui

      I finally got the alarm feature to show up. Try deleting your present Sonos app and install it again then select "Join Existing System" follow prompts to passwords then to Settings.

    I updated the new app and lost my entire system, it cannot find anything. When it worked i thought the app was terrible, volume control and room selection was slow and none responsive. Vey poor from Sonos, now i have no system for summer!!!

    I can’t believe how little discussion there is about missing playlists. Aren’t the playlists that we spent years making what we value the most? I was told by Sonos staff that by mid July we were going to get an update to correct everything. Today is July 23 and I have received nothing.

      I thought that too but the update wasnt optional. If you didnt update the app, you couldnt access your music at all as i tried on my tablet after my phone was updated automatically. It really is useless.

    I personally miss the quick access to eq settings. I tend to have loudness off most of the time but like to turn it on for low level listening. I also miss being able to search for song, album, artist like you could in the last. It’s more global search now. Maybe I’ll get used to it. I absolutely despised it at first now I just tolerate it when I have to use it.

    Can anyone help me with my
    Sonos? I can’t play any music for my Apple library. Only thing I can do is put it to “TV” and then play music through my PlayStation. This is ridiculous. I can only use my Sonos if there is WiFi. What happened with just Bluetooth? Is that not good enough anymore. This is so frustrating. I just want to listen to my music like I did before with the old update.

    I just bought new speakers and have so many issues with the app. iPhone 14 app states that I need to allow local network… but it’s enabled so I can only use my IPad to use this app. Other issues: Port refuses to add. One Era 200 keeps showing up as unregistered. Sonos support told me essentially to wait but I’ll be returning all the gear before the 30 days is up.

    It’s not just features but the ability to connect subs to Arc or Beams. Many people like me no longer have working subs with soundbars. It’s frustrating

    None of my rooms will group and I have different stations playing out of different speakers. All the while, the app is telling me it can't find the speakers that are currently playong music. 👍👍to Sonos!

    Left and right channel sound is missing in EQ setting. Which means all surround sound speakers are just a flat loud speaker vs customizable and makes surround sound usable.

    How about they bring my playlist back, lag in voloume control, roam won’t connect. Plays one song and shows another. I can be playing music on my Sonos and then if I go onto Instagram that will start playing on my speakers instead!!! No add to playlist feature anymore not that I’ve got a playlist at the moment. Why did they launch this app if it wasn’t ready???

    It’s not quite as you say. They have removed the ability to downgrade a speaker from S2 to S1 despite continuing to advertise numerous products as having this feature. I spent £400 on a port last week which as it can’t be used on a S1 system is useless to me in none of their timescales for fixing things is this mentioned so can only conclude that it is way beyond mid June which is as far as their aspirations go.
    It is simply unacceptable to advertise products as performing a function which they can’t actually do.

    The biggest issue for me that I bought my first Sonos kit this week (Arc, sub and 2 era300s), so this my first experience of the app and I have nothing to compare it to. But Trueplay locking up and not working on an iPad Air 4 has meant I can't even properly listen and evaluate the kit in my own home. Tech support confirmed this is an issue, but could provide no timeline for a fix. If it doesn't appear soon, £2.3k worth of equipment will be going back in the box, back to Sonos and I'll buy Bose orSennheiser instead

    Anyone clear on how the app update managed to bring Plex into the picture? We have all of our music on a NAS that Sonos used to access. Now after this update, our music library shows up on Plex with the Sonos app. And our music is inaccessible because of because Plex give constant error. Our playlists are gone too… we spent years creating a best per album playlist that contains thousands of songs. Vanished. I really want to keep up the faith I’ve had in Sonos for years but not having any music now is depressing.

    I have never known a company so keen to kill off an excellent product. If the app developers were of the same quality as the hardware developers things would be fantastic. Please sack all of your app development staff immediately. The only reason I can think of for the state of the new app is that Sonos competitors are paying them to destroy the company. I suggest Sonos look into this possibility.

    I’ve had my share of initial issues most of which have been covered. It was a poor experience but my system seems stable now albeit frustratingly missing some needed features I use. I have 14 Sonos devices so my commitment is locked in so to speak. However the alarm app that returned in 80.00.08 requires the user to be able to set system time plus or minus UTC. The settings menu does not provide that function which is shown in the manual. The work around for me in South Australia is to set my Alarm for 6:00am at 8:30pm, that is UTC +9.5hours. It works but the math!! Hope this helps.

    Android Widget missing, also WearOS controls are gone. WearOS used to have play'pause/skip control over the sonos media app.

    My new ARC I just purchased sounds no better than the beam gen 1 it replaces, I’m hoping when the fix the trueplay it will help. It also took many many attempts to get the thing setup… very poor experience. This will be the last product I purchase from Sonos.

    It's very easy for me. I was planning to buy whole new cinema from sonos. But after this app "update" I will spend my money somewhere where they care about customers. Sorry but this should do everyone and maybe then would sonos start thinking what are they really doing. Shame on you Sonos and Goodbye....

    I just bought 2 Sonos Roam to add to my Sonos system, but they will not connect. After 2hr in a phone call with Sonos support the only answer was that the app is faulty and it might take weeks until they fix it. A shame, I was a Sonos fan with more than 12 devices… I hope they can fix it but they lost a client
