I'm almost 40 never dated and my dad viciously and violently beat me for 30 years, and l absolutely hated his guts, and when he finally died two years ago, l didn't shed a tear now l chose to forgive him because l didn't want that dark cloud always hanging over my head and let it go and doing so l was able to grow closer to God.

      I disagree
If someone makes you angry, you need to look at it, study it and learn why
It might be your own trauma
I am reconciling with my x girlfriend
When she makes me angry I catch it now and express it in a way that is helpful to her and me
You can shift it and grow
Sometimes you have to leave though you’re right
      But it’s a half truth

My father was a middle weight boxer in the 40s.And he told me a man is more of a man.If he can walk away from a fight then get into it. Because it takes a lot of self control Not to react but to step away.
And you think about it, it's so easy to react. It's so easy to lash out and get angry and lose your sense of control. But how much hardor is it to be in control.
The more you practice the better you get at it

Stoicism and Christianity have so many components alike and can work together so well, for me, it's refreshingly uncanny. Except for the indifference stoicism possesses and the overly/endless niceness Christianity many times has, they marry quite well and puts you in the right mindset of thinking to deal with the every day occurrences of a life. A GREAT COMBO PLATE OF PHILOSOPHIES for everyone on earth!!!

    • @AncientWisdom79
      @AncientWisdom79 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

That's an interesting take! I totally agree that there are many parallels between Stoicism and Christianity, especially when it comes to focusing on virtues, self-discipline, and finding peace amidst challenges. The differences, like Stoicism's emotional indifference and Christianity's emphasis on compassion, can actually complement each other when balanced well. Together, they offer a holistic approach to living a meaningful and grounded life. Definitely a combo worth exploring.

There are 7 emotions including anger. Anger is a sign that something is wrong in your life. It helps you to grow and protect yourself. It's normal and OK to be angry. It's not dirty or negative or bad. You don't know why that person is angry or what's going on in their life either. They could have lost every member of their family and could be in a stage of grief.

I thought my mane problem and focus was Money when all in actuality it was my Anger. Which it took for me to get closer to God to really understand and be more aware. It makes me sad to be more aware of my anger in my late 30s knowing all the people i hurt in the past because of my short temper. The good thing is that im aware of my anger more and when im aware im better at controlling it. Being wrongly accused or spreading false rumors is when i lose control but im working on it day by day.

Anger is your warning that something is wrong -- how you take action (calmly or angrily) will determine the outcome.

I really appreciate your excellent advice. My loved one is getting beaten by a narcissist on a regular basis and we're both scared of him and don't know what to do about his anger, he has had a terrible childhood with his mother and hates.

17:57 I don't agree that "LOVE, anger & greed" are the 3 gates that lead to hell because love in its purest form is not evil. "To covet" is more fitting IMO. If we remove "LOVE" from our lives , then that's a slippery slope to a zen existence which meditates on "nothingness" as reality. No offense intended towards this video or Zen, but I believe love is what the world needs more of & that love is NOT the gate to hell. Just my humble opinion. 💛

There are so many gold nuggets in THIS video. Anyone ever heard of "Coach Corey Wayne" and his "How to Become a 3% Man"? Like he insists, you need to read his book multiple times in order to thoroughly internalize all of the concepts contained in his book. THIS video would be a good one to listen to on a daily basis. Forget all the other videos on stoicism - ANGER is the biggest problem most people will ever have, and by far the biggest roadblock to them reaching their goals.

Many times through adversity we actually learn valuble lessons which makes us grow so staying angry when reprimanded or insulted is not wise as it only hurts you in the end robbing you of your peace and joy

I have a very, very short temper for me. So recently I began counseling. I admit, that it's that counseling seems to be the only way I can manage at times? I haven't been to mass, in years too. . . I used to go every Saturday evening to also admit. I've dealt with knowing anger harbored in my heart allows resentment! So counseling helps me! For the mean time. . . I can admit that too in faith I've been to confession. I know I must be very strong in fact! I realize too that everybody bares their own cross. . . I graduated public school with the benefit of having a couple credits heading into the direction of preparing myself going into college? Now years later I'm looking forward for counseling on a regular basis! Thanks!

Being stoic in a nutshell is actually being able to control every single emotion we have in a neutral fashion, we all need hate anger happiness sadness depression indifference it’s what makes us human, being able to identify those and handle them is stoic, emotions are inevitable so is the outcome the thing we have control over is us, how we react, once you understand that about YOU, you’ll be on your way to your version of stoicism
