One of the most inspiring takeaways, about the benefit of the 1-person ultra-lean model: 1. Control over time 2. Enough money to enjoy it 3. Independence to live the life as one wants If this is not something worth exploring!
I'm #4 professional services. Building a 1 man business in 18 months I'm at around $30k per month and steadily growing. Outsource part of my business but impliment most of these strategies already. Check e-mails 2 times a day, reply in blocks, use meetings. Still a way to go but could really travel and work a 4 day week now if i wanted to.
Tim, I really want to thank you not only for going over the "Big idea" of what it takes, but the process of what it takes. Outcome related goals are great but, in the 4 hour week you break down processes . I found this prosess related goals strategy is MUCH better then just setting outcome goals. Your case study approach is truly the answer!! If anyone is reading this its time to (Re)read or lisen to the 4 hour work, Why? The reason is that it is simply no better time then now to build niche million dollar business!! But, the ones who don't act will never no what I am talking about; this inturn leaves us doers holding the keys to the bank (hope you understand!!!).
*it was 1h00 of podcast that was just amazing. I just started podcasting. I will do everything I can to be as good as you are and help my audience. Thank Tim*
Tim, I’ve been a follower since before you published the 4 hour workweek, I think after I watched your TED video on Total Immersion, Tango and learning Japanese... and I have benefitted from your insights and been inspired by you ever since. So thanks, sincerely. This format really didn’t work for me though. It was hard to engage with you reading someone else’s words; your voice doesn’t convey your usual energy and passion. I think you are at your best for your audience when you are in true dialogue, either with your guest or with your audience. That said, I am very interested in case studies. Hence the reason I clicked on this title. I just think you need to be in dialogue with the owners, or reporting your findings from interviews with them, rather than reading someone else’s work.
Tim, love lots of your stuff. The appeal of The 4 Hour Work Week was that it would teach how to make a healthy full-time income working 4 hours a week. You're welcome.
Great content ! You already set me free. Now for the next level. You changed my life and .... thank you. What you are doing gives so much value to people :) ok I'll stop now haha
i have to admit i have a hard time reading 4 hour work week. it doesnt seem like tim to me. i absolutely love the other 4 hour books plus tools of titans. for whatever reason 4h workweek just doesnt speak to me.
Great discussion. But like everything else, this is about 1M per year revenue, Not 1M per year income. 1M per year revenue could mean only 100k profit. The big question is what is the possibilities of making 1Million per year income? And are there examples of 1M per year "income/profit" businesses?
Sounds fun, gonna listen to it tomorrow (its past midnight in europe now lol). Quick request though: next time put a list of the jobs underneath the video.
This format is a bit difficult to follow. Tim has to switch between his own voice and the author's. Would love to hear Tim's own take on this subject. Oh wait, he already did it many times :)))
Sherwin H I would read tools of titans first. Yes that a business book. I read tools of titans a few years back. I have an amazing book list because of that book. 4 hour is my next book. 🙌🏽
What is your opinion on starting a career as an oil painter? there is a lot of advice about many types of businesses concerning common consumer goods like technology and health but not so much on art...
Great question. My question to you would be. How long have you been creating Oil paintings? If you're competent then I would use the principles here: Focus on a niche, narrow and deep rather than mass appeal. For example: Instead of painting sunsets or landscapes, paint specific landscapes like Greek landscapes even better, a specific area of Greece like Mykonos. Or paint train bridges of the world, or Italian churches. This way you'll be known specifically for that one thing. 'The Italian Chuch painter' this way you will likely not only create your own niche but will certainly be more able to dominate that niche, be in the top 3 of Italian Church painters instead of competing with all the other general Oil painters out there. On top of this if you develop a unique painting style this will also help you stand out in your field. So yes, I would say you could make a handsome living as an Oil painter if you reverse engineer it.
I would Love to get a short email from you on Fridays. This podcast has been highly inspiring and valuable as I feel that I am on the cusp of creating a business that I truly value. Thank you! I will subscribe to get the email

Wow I thought this was accounted for
Wtf would I care about 1 mil gross smh
What's wrong with 100 yearly cash if I have to do minimal input into the business.

Hello Sherwin, I was able to get it. Finishing up awaken the giant within. ☺️✨
Nice! Was 1000 true fans a good read for business building ? Or should I just read a book summary online

Your art will need to be exceptional.

Asking for a discount.... Pffftt that's an inherited quality to us of Indian descent.
Every time I think of the "laying down in public" comfort challenge it reminds me of the video for Radiohead's "Just"
