I liked this one. It was reminiscent of Pet Semetary, and how a father will do anything to keep his child. Madi's choice is understandable to me as a divorced parent - she feels like a failure as a parent, and when she sees how well-adjusted Kendra is at her father's, she decides to do what she thinks is best for her child, but she does ignore that fact that this father wasn't around for most of her daughter's life, so that part is a bit iffy. It was such a unique read though. TFS!

I'm really intrigued about the sea creatures but body horror is a big no for me 😅 I love marine biology so it sounds it could be a bad idea for me to read this

It has a lot to do with like crabs molting. Idk if that helps or not, but that is where most of the body horror comes in.

I can totally see people either loving or hating this book. It is VERY weird and I wasn't expecting it to be as bizarre as it was.

This one was a big old DNF for me. I made it about 65% through and just couldn't stand it.

I can totally understand that. I feel like this is a novel people will either love or hate, and Chapman's writing in general tends to be that way, too.
