    BRO!!!!! I'm born and raised in Chucktown and I'm so happy that whoever recommended these stops sent you to the real city spots. Most of these food shows/TH-camrs go to the tourist traps. My friend you are eating 100 percent authentic Black/African Charleston food. Everything you ate I grew up on. Much respect. I wish I knew you were in town, I would've stopped by and given you your props. Come back anytime

    Wow, this food tour focusing on Gullah Geechee and soul food sounds absolutely amazing! The Gullah Geechee people have done a remarkable job preserving their West African culture, especially along the coast of the Carolinas. From their traditions to music and heritage, they have also managed to preserve their unique and delicious cuisine.
    I can already imagine the mouthwatering home-cooked food you'll be enjoying on this tour. From okra and stews to fried chicken and pigtail, every dish promises to be a delightful treat for the taste buds. And let's not forget about the rice and garlic crabs, which are sure to add even more flavor to the experience.
    I'm thrilled that you'll be sharing your food adventure through this video. It's a fantastic opportunity for us to vicariously enjoy all the delicious dishes and get a glimpse into the rich culinary traditions of the Gullah Geechee people. Bon appétit!

    • @kendramiddletonwilliams
      @kendramiddletonwilliams ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@rubysangel5180 if I'm making one recommendation - it's Charleston - and visiting the islands off of Charleston and south. You must try the local soul food and seafoods, and specialty things like "she-crab soup." Do yourself a favor and drive, from Charleston to Savannah. Places like Seabrook, John's island, Kiawah, Folly, Edisto, and all the way down to Tybee Island in Georgia. It's 3-4 hours of slow driving, and you can almost pick any place to eat and you will be happy.
      I recommend driving along this route because it's so incredibly gorgeous and there's nowhere else on earth like it. You can take 2-3 days to make this drive, see the sights, and eat and you'll be so glad you did.

      @@Samantha.86 you're tripping!!! These flavors are indicative of the freshness and supreme quality that coastal SC has. Every dish eaten on this episode is always imitated and never duplicated. Even the rice is special to the region. What other state grows rice??? I'll wait!!!!

      @maxionparker9878 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@jarodlee442 true, but the Country was initially built using SC rice. It was used as currency. The slave market was in favor of rice and was one of the initialized crops. It has heirloom rices from Africa that can't be duplicated by texture, flavor and uniqueness anywhere. The secret??? Low Country rice were grown in brackish waters right of the coast making them preseasoned with sea salt. Arkansas can't and will never replicate that.

    • @jermen5137
      @jermen5137 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Samantha.86 yeah because the foodways come from SC. Most people don’t know that most dishes like seafood boils, which we call frogmore stew in SC, shrimp and grits, red rice and so on originate from here and eventually they spread to other places. Oh wow! Featuring my wonderful Geechee Hometown Charleston SC. Thank you Mark for letting your audience know of the great down home soul food (so good that my mouth is watering too). Be sure to stop by Gille's James Island. Absolutely delicious seafood - Tell them MonaLisa & Patty sent you! lol!. People make sure to come visit Charleston for the rich historical American History as well. And don't forget to visit the International African American Museum Downtown Charleston. I was there a few weeks ago for our Family Reunion and a few of my cousins from Ohio, my sister and I went. We all were fantastic from all of the artifacts, pictures, videos, and amazing information. We spent 2-3 hours there! A Must SEE and DO!

    The crabs are served cold so you can heat it up and the butter melts down. But they are really good even served that way. Garlic crab trays are my favorite. Even with all the sauces out here today inspired by TH-cam(which are good), nothing beats a good ol garlic crab butter sauce. Loved this.
