Also remember Ethan said it depends what kind of symbol it is bc some symbols can cause you to do bad things. That cromiknochal story will play into this.
Coming back to this video after watching season 3 and I think this symbol is referring to the tree on the street (the straight line) and the 2 lines crossing are Jade's car and Tabitha's camper crossing paths and arriving in town together.
I’m hoping that Jade goes to the brink, like Christopher, but unlike Christopher he doesn’t fall off and the community can bring him back. His intelligence and need for answers was good in the real world, it let him become the super success he was. But here, I think he may instead learn to let go of that, some kind of awakening; something more spiritual, like he already sort of tip toed around with Kenny’s mom and the memory of loved ones. No idea what that’ll look like, but I’d hate if he just went crazy like Boyd’s wife. I feel like if that happens, the symbol and the answers may be obvious, but you can’t find that simply with logic. Whether that means the whole Fromtown situation is magical and not aliens/science related, I dunno…
I believe the town intended for Jade to follow a similar path as Christopher, but his contrasting personality will prevent him from repeating Christopher’s fatal actions. Christopher was well-loved by everyone until he started seeing the symbol, which gradually eroded his kind exterior. In contrast, Jade was disliked by most people even before encountering the symbol. Christopher presented himself as warm and kind, but I think he likely had an inner coldness that he managed to hide. The pressure and isolation of seeing the symbol and trying to understand its meaning likely wore him down over time, leading to his madness and the eventual massacre. Jade, on the other hand, appears selfish and abrasive outwardly, but he has a hidden softness. This is evident in moments like when he admires Jim’s protective dad moment, he respects Julie demanding he stop calling Jim “Teacups”, he comforts/prays with Tian Chen while she mourns her husband, and he is visibly deeply disturbed by the thought of someone as young as Julie being in danger-believing she “should be picking out her prom dress.” Jade’s experience with the symbol might not wear him down as it did Christopher because he’s already accustomed to being disliked. His remark, “you have no idea what it’s like being smarter than everyone,” shows that he’s long dealt with isolation in his own way. Where Christopher’s hidden darkness caused him to lose sight of the humanity around him, I believe Jade’s inner warmth will drive him to seek answers to save everyone. When he gives in to his softer side, that is when he will make the most progress. This has already been shown as a huge motivator for him, as he rushed into the tunnels alone and without a solid plan, hoping to find answers because Julie was screaming in her bed seemingly possessed by something. The only situation that might push Jade to take on the darkness and madness like Christopher would be if Tian Chen dies. Her death could be the trigger that sends him into a bleak depression where helplessness and loneliness are all he feels. Since many of us suspect that we will be experiencing this loss in the beginning of season 3, we should be able to see pretty quickly which direction he is going to go.
It's possible they relate to the nightmares, the faraway trees, or perhaps even the characters themselves. Thanks for pointing this out - it's something to keep an eye on as the series continues.
If you look closely, you will see that there are TWO different symbols in the notebook. Both symbols have three lines but one symbol has two lines that curve to the upper left and the other symbol has two lines that cross each other in the middle. I have theorized that these symbols represent the yin and yang (ie good and evil) in the town. The symbol that Jade makes on the barroom floor with the bottles which crosses in the middle is also drawn next to the ominous red figure in the monster cave. Ethan did say there are good and bad symbols. The other symbol has not appeared yet but perhaps the boy in white represents the other symbol and it will eventually appear in another location like the lighthouse.
Technically, there are few symbols with differents crossings 0:55 in the video is a good example. In the theory i read on reddit, some people think it's a map related to trees, or few roads in the zone. I wanted to compare with the screen of the map drawn by victor in the shelter, but it's complicated when imprecise or incomplete. These symbols feel so basic and familiar as a group vilains symbols, or rebels in series, video game etc. The contours also make me strangely think of wax stamps too. Note that the protective rune could also a sort of compass similar to the vegvísir despite the different patterns with a somewhat particular definition that's meant to stop people from losing their way, but which technically never existed among the Vikings. I don't know if the serie plays with that or no. Only Romanticism flourished with a revival of Norse mythologies in the 1800s, but eh it's a circle with crossing lines and "decorative patterns", is'nt it ? 🙄I like existenz and this guy is web developper or something like this, no? But eh 1899 serie walked on this path, so it could be disappointing. I dont remember what he said on his job in S1, meh. Need to refresh my memory.
My question: Is the town going to suffer the same fate as when Victor was little? Last season Victor said "Its happening again" when the 2 cars arrived on the same day. I wonder if Christopher wound up there on the same day as someone else.
Nah itll come close to ETHAN being left alone, but victor will probably sacrifice himself to save everyone, Lead by the brains of Jade once Tabby comes back with Miranda and his quantum navigation system
I doubt Jade will go more crazy than he is. If I had to bet, Boyd is pretty much the designated choice for the one that's going to "get it" this season. I'm even willing to say the season will end with something like an heroic action from boyd, dying in the process, but allowing a small group of people - ellis and fatima, or maybe just a pregnant fatima - to get out of the town. I wouldn't be surprised if Jade actually get out and use his money to find the town, probably being the boss of the guy on the radio talking to jim (because, you know, time travel).
I think that the symbol with the crossed lines in the middle most likely represents evil and the madness that enveloped Christopher. This is the same symbol that Jade is fixated upon and saw on the cave rooftop, on the bleeding tree, inside the Colony House and the symbol he created with the bottles. When Jade has the vision of Christopher, both symbols start to bleed in the notebook. If you go to S1 E10 at the 11th minute and pause the map, I believe the silver pinsticks light up on the map on purpose for an extremely brief moment and form what I believe to be the evil symbol with the crossed lines in the middle. At first I thought it was a camera flare but it does not seem so and I am trying to determine whether the other colored thumb tacks and rusty nails on the map create the other symbol. If both symbols are represented on the map in the sheriff’s station, that may be foreshadowing and predicting that whomever came from the locations designated by the silver pinsticks may go mad or become evil or a monster in the town and the people who arrived from the other locations that form the other symbol (ie the good symbol) will finally find a way to leave the town. Just a theory. Let us know if you see both symbols in the map in the sheriff's station. Keep up the great analysis
Your analysis of the symbol with the crossed lines is quite intriguing. It appears to be a recurring motif within the story, associated with evil and madness. The connections you've made between the symbol's appearances and its thematic significance in relation to Christopher and Jade's experiences are fascinating. The silver pinsticks lighting up on the map in the sheriff's station is intriguing as well, going to check. If the brief formation of the evil symbol on the map was intentional, it could indeed be a form of foreshadowing. The suggestion that individuals arriving from locations designated by the silver pinsticks may be prone to madness or becoming evil while those from the other symbol's locations might find a way to escape the town is an interesting theory. Will investigate this :D Thanks for the comment Robert!
@@hawkwing9132 yea I’ve been thinking about that too. Maybe they’re both smart, Christopher could’ve been an engineer or something, but to actually solve something or at least not be tortured, you have to let go of that. I think we’ll see jade and Ethan’s mom together…Ethan’s dad is eventually gonna be on the rebel alliance side when it becomes a walking dead thing with tribes….Ethan is getting victors clothes so a photo which will get taken on a Polaroid that gets mysteriously found in the diner we’ll see jade holding the book with Ethan in background….so by season 4 when Ethan is an old man someone will find that photo. Ethan’s sister will be pregnant with Elgin and have a monster baby like Fatima….this turning her into one of them….
When Víctor is describing Christopher he always mention that he made other people laugh but one day he stops. The monsters ARE ALWAYS WITH A SMILE (like the doll, indeed). This could be a connection, as we know that nothing is in From is casual
I think a video need to be made discussing one simple question, without the Talismans how did Victor as a Kid survive alone in the town. It makes me believe that the Monsters did start coming out again until the 1st car arrived after the previous massacre & also that maybe someone survived the massacre besides Victor and helped tale care of him as a child. Only for victor to somehow forget about this person which now that we know he mentally blocked out his sister. Its a possibility he mentally blocked out someone who survived with him & was the first person to get killed by the monsters in the new cycle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we still really don't know what happened after the first car arrived in the new cycle & who the first person to arrive and meet victor is.
I think Victor was removed from the Terrarium at some point- possibly for quite a while. We know this because he drew the "snow globe" picture of the town- complete with the monster tunnels beneath it. He has to see the terrarium that is the town from the OUTSIDE. If that's the case, I think it snapped his mind- and he blocked out much of the worst things. Victor's memories are tied to the drawings- and the drawings seen in season one were pretty terrifying.
There's a theory that in the last episode when Tabitha is in the Hospital that the symbol of thr Hospital looks pretty similar to that symbol Jade is fixated on. I would say KIND of but not that much. Any thoughts?
When Ethan and Jade are discussing the symbol(s) in S2, E1 in Victor’s room, when questioned about the difference between good and bad symbols as they relate to a “quest,” Ethan responds that bad symbols “sometimes make you do bad things.” Likewise, when Victor and Jade are specifically discussing the symbol(s) in S2, E5 in the junkyard, Victor states “there are bad things here that make people do bad things.” Both quotes from Ethan and Victor are almost identical when directly discussing the symbol(s). It seems clear to me that if there are indeed two symbols representing the light/good and dark/evil, the evil symbol with the crossed lines in the middle clearly makes people to do bad things (ie Christopher) and perhaps the symbol will make Jade do “bad things.” Since Ethan said bad symbols “sometimes” make people do bad things, I do not believe that it is a foregone conclusion and the evil symbol will necessarily cause Jade to do "bad things." For example, if it is revealed that Randall is carving the evil symbol on top of the bus and the madness has already started to consume him, then perhaps Randall does “bad things” in a future episode. The yin/good and yang/bad represented by the two symbols can also be seen in the talisman. If you analyze the runes on the talisman, there are two men on top of eachother representing good and evil. Likewise, on one side there is light emanating from a carved symbol on the other side, the exact carved symbol is not emanating what appears to be light. It again seems to me that the two symbols and the talisman are probably depicting the age old motif of good verse evil and the balance between the two. Just a theory. Enjoy your commentary.
