Well, there is the Ricky Gervais Show, which is basically what this is but everything is animated. I prefer just watching them talk in live action, no animation is really needed. I could watch this kind of stuff all day, every day.
The first time my daughter and I watch Ricky Gervais HBO we had to cover our mouths with pillows we were laughing so hard. It has just gotten better, and now have friends addicted to watching Ricky. Makes my day.
"you gotta teach them something useful for when they're on holiday in england" "allright then, which scenario would you use?" "the bins haven't been emptied" GENIUS
Just pointing out there that Ricky Gervais has probably done more for deaf people on youtube than actual popular youtubers out there. This is great that they decided to caption this, really helpful. Especially since this is my favorite video ever
Yeah I just mean there's unfortunately a lot of really popular youtubers out there that don't like to caption their videos, and I think it's cool that he did. I didn't mean to come off as offensive, I'm sorry if I did.
I'm sure whoever uploaded this (probably wasn't even Ricky himself) wasn't thinking "hey, I'm gonna subtitle this for deaf and hard of hearing people!" I'm sure like you said they did it for sentence structure or whatever, or just to go along with the video's theme of learning English and inviting people from different to learn along. My point, all in all, is that (at the time-- youtubers are doing a lot better now!) this random video was something I was able to share with my hard of hearing mom, but so many popular and rich youtubers could not put the effort to add some small subtitles, so I found it a funny and ironic thought. That's just the point I was trying to get at. But thank you for the commentary.
So hilarious😂😂I came across this video which has made me cry with laughter!! Muchas gracias for laughter therapy Ricky!! A colleague recommended me " The Office" years ago and loved it!!! Humour keeps us sane no doubt!
First things first. The subtitles are not there for the hard of hearing, they are part of the humour and comedy. Secondly, Ricky enjoys talking to Karl on camera because of the comedic value he can generate. Karl is a very straight talking and as someone else has pointed out naive and unfiltered in the things that he says. Thirdly, Ricky provides his own laughter track. Wonderful stuff from a comic genius.
"I'm not paid or qualified to be sorting your arse out!" First time I've seen Karl "catch" Ricky in being insane and getting a laugh out of it, good on him!
This is superb, the way its spun off tries to distract you from the fact that this is actually just another comedy episode. Brilliant diversion and really great humour!
Often find my way back to this little snippet of comedy gold, and no matter how many times I’ve seen it or how many years pass, it never ever fails to make me laugh. Absolute gem of a clip 👏🏼😂✨
Karl has the innocence of a child, its unbelievable, I could listen to him talk about stuff all day long. I can't wait for him to be on another show or something.
Nicely done. I would have put 'testi' instead of 'teste' though as that is how Karl pronounces it. oh and it's 'pigeon' not 'pidgin' :) But loved watching it with English subs. It's amazing to see the sentences they come up with.
I think Karl is a practitioner of "radical honesty" and not even aware of it. Thanks to Ricky we have the humorous aspects but I can understand why he doesn't try to make many friends as it might be misunderstood for rudeness, but in honesty he's just innocent like kids who will come up to you and ask the most embarrassing thing without thinking much if it.
After talking about waxing the back and balls 15:00....... Ricky: Doctor I have a pain..... Karl: Whereabouts is the pain?Ricky: my anus.....Karl: Course it is.... Ricky: *lols hard* I keep rewatching this part & laugh hard omg brilliant
It almost feels like Ricky convinced Karl that they were going to create something educational and that's why he agreed to do it.
Or he paid him
Yeah Ricky favorite thing is trolling karl. Seem like nothing makes him happyer 😄
These were the best 18 minutes I've ever wasted.
well it wasn't wasted then XD
This has to become a series.
Should have, but never has.Wonder why?

Max Power I agree.

We need more of this!
I'm sorry but they are clearly the superior English teachers
pleaaaase
You're a great teacher, Papa, but these two gentlemen are obviously superior :(
Papaa...!!!!!!I'm happy ally is here
"Always speak proper English." Hilarious. I personally believe that this bit has been the best ever work of Ricky's and Karl's.
Ricky!!! we want to see more lessons, please!!
Karl Pilkington is a master of deadpan delivery.
Best of all is that I'm pretty sure his responses aren't scripted.
He isn't even trying, it just comes naturally to him.
Delivery?
That's because he's not a comedian going out of his way. This IS him.
The first time my daughter and I watch Ricky Gervais HBO we had to cover our mouths with pillows we were laughing so hard. It has just gotten better, and now have friends addicted to watching Ricky. Makes my day.
2024 and i just literally found it. Masterpiece
I'm living in UK and I think your teaching words are very helpful to be native.
"you gotta teach them something useful for when they're on holiday in england"

"the bins haven't been emptied"
GENIUS

Did you think it was strong tea?
This is probably the funniest video with Karl and Ricky i have ever seen. I cried with laughter many times.

11:29 I always crack up at this part. Just because he wants to keep going but he just can't stop from laughing.
Really wished you guys could've continued this. You guys could've done certain topics. It would've been awesome
Best thing Ricky's done since The Office
I assure you I could hardly speak English before. I ve just started to write an academic essay about George Orwell after watching this piece of art.
This is pure genius!! I love how in the hypothetical situation, Karl's fish shop is busy.
Thank you Ricky Gervais for this English lesson. After watching this video, I can write AND speak proper English for my first time.
His reactions are glorious
love the way karl said "that's alright that" as if he actually thinks ricky has just given him a real cup of tea
This is superb, the way its spun off tries to distract you from the fact that this is actually just another comedy episode. Brilliant diversion and really great humour!
Ricky turning into a lazy-eyed Burgess Meredith at the end was a perfect crescendo to the whole scene.
Thanks a lot for english subtitles from the hard-of-hearing English learners!
Often find my way back to this little snippet of comedy gold, and no matter how many times I’ve seen it or how many years pass, it never ever fails to make me laugh. Absolute gem of a clip 👏🏼😂✨
I really want episode 2!
Ricky's head wobble has to be the funniest thing he does. lmao

lol Karl getting worked up in the end... Love him, he's so down to Earth.
wurds of wisdom. Thanks
Nicely done. I would have put 'testi' instead of 'teste' though as that is how Karl pronounces it.
oh and it's 'pigeon' not 'pidgin' :)

When will the next one be? We have been waiting ages Gervais!
This is simply the best!!!!! Holy crap!
I love that karl has no concept of tea without a tea bag.
