Tony, I love the content and journey with you on your homestead. Question from someone who hasn't ever driven a tractor (except one time) or used one for any type of work, is this hard on the tractor / hydraulic pump? I had about $15k in tree work 8 years ago, so $30k today's money, the stump grinder guy had a decent machine that was on tracks and completely remote controlled. He took it up as a part time deal and basically just subbed out for the tree guys. He told me he couldn't keep up with the amount of work and this was his retirement job!
Running the stump down there is not a tremendous jump from running a rotary cutter. They both take tremendous hits. The Baumalight stump grinder has a slip clutch which keeps harsh hits from making it to the transmission. The primary purpose of a tractor is pulling and PTO power. I feel comfortable with the T474. I run stump grinders, rear mulchers, mowers, etc with no breakdowns. Almost 500 hours. I do see where you're going with this. I too know that there is some money to be made on the side with this stump grinder.
I am headed down the path of a stump grinder (3 years have to pay the tractor off first) but I was looking at the ones you hook up and move your tractor back and forth. For as often as I would use it the cost is a little easier to handle. But nice video.
I had one of the ones that I went back and forth with the tractor's motion. It worked very well. This one is faster and easier to use, but the cost is a factor along with how much you intend on using it.
No more shock than a brush cutter hitting a stump. IMO. I have used a stump grinder for at least 50 hours without any problems. Still, It has a slip clutch. I pointed it out somewhere in the video.
Great video as you and your Wife do many thanks for sharing this and all the best to you and your family and your friends also God bless you all.
Thanks, you too!
Man! That thing is sweet! Super cool design.

I was so excited when Baumalight asked us to demo this unit.
Awesome stuff, as always 👏 sure is a beast of stump grinder
You got that right! I think I could do this all day. So much fun and instant gratification.

Wow that is a significant improvement on the old one. Uses the energy better and easier on trans and the operator without all the grabbing.
I will agree. I understand a small landowner not wanting to spend as much, but dang, this new grider is fast. A person could make a good income.
Is there a slip clutch or anything on the driveline of the stump grinder ? Seems like a lot of "shock" to the tractor driveline.

👍👍
Thank you
Poor little pallet didn't know it was going to be opened with a grapple.....
Go at it like I stole it.
