Is overlanding a scam/waste of money, grift, joke, fad, fake adventures, not a real hobby, getting out of hand? Or is it real adventures, not a waste of money, not over the top enough and a real hobby?

Those little folding shovels are not actually overlanding shovels. Their Chinese made World War II military knock offs.. I had an original army surplus World War II shovel for many many many years and somehow over the years. I’ve lost it and I bought one of those little Chinese knock offs. I’ve only had to use it a couple of times and it’s nowhere near as good as the original, but it is functional for an emergency.
