Scargost the artist Yeah they made him an ridiculously overpowered villain with a nonsensical motivation, instead of the well written character he was in Flashpoint.
This entire storyline was childish, Thomas Wayne was a man more broken than even Bruce, who was a child when his parents when his parents were killed in front of him. He had the chance to truly say goodbye to his son with Flashpoint-but when he is given the physical chance to get to know Bruce, he does all of this? He understands nothing at all, he's crazier than the Joker and Bane combined and he cannot see it. Plus, Bruce Wayne IS Batman, there is no disconnect, nothing to change. So Martha Wayne became the Joker and killed alternate Catwoman? Please, she'd have been young enough to be his daughter. Thomas Wayne's world is so different that his methods would never have worked in the regular one, anyway. Oh, and killing Alfred to break Batman and family, taking Gotham? Do I need to list the horrors Batman has survived? Finally, Thomas Wayne has to be in his late fifties at least, yet even bloody and beaten down into the ground by the entire Bat family, bar Bruce, he beats the hell out of all of them bare-handed, even Orphan, who has managed to strike Batman hard enough to draw blood without even drawing his attention until it's too late? There are so many holes in the logic of this story that I could pilot the moon through them backwards with my eyes shut. I just hope they don't leave Alfred dead, that is the one truly awful thing to come out of this. The most ridiculous thing of all is that Alfred proved himself so much a better man than Thomas here-and even Damian Wayne saw that. Thomas was nothing more than a smart thug in the end, who never understood what Bruce did, the true price of holding the line under Batman's cowl. Bruce Wayne is dead, Batman is what he is, and that man doesn't break or fail.
I agree. Thomas was supposing to a Father who died in Flashpoint to save Bruce. And in Button storyline he helps his son and Barry to get back home. But Tom Kings just broke Thomas and Batman´s realishonship.
plus, every storyline that features a dying Alfred only serves to piss batman off more, killing Alfred never breaks the bats, all it does is give them a vendetta to avenge
I hope they retcon this story, so Thomas sees everything Bruce has done for Gotham and himself smile knock on the door, Alfred answers and is shocked Thomas: Hello Alfred, may I come in?
Andre Santos it should have never started to begin with. His Father by some miracle came back and into his world. Period. Stop. All that should have been done from that moment forward was a father trying to pick up the pieces of his lost life, or a life that he should have gotten and began there. A regular guy. Not don a costume, not scheme behind the scenes. Just try to be a sense of normalcy in Bruce’s life. Let Alfred take a fucking vacation. Because let’s face it Alfred failed at his job of protecting Bruce after they died. Alfred let Bruce become this thing and accepted it. Sure for story and comic sake Alfred “ went along with it because he couldn’t stop Bruce” thing was going on an I get it. But the first fuck up was introducing Damian into the mix. His Son......who like comics always do turned him into instead of just a boy but a ninja assassin...🙄. Ok so they went with that and gave Damian an arc fine. What’s fucking horseshit is when you tell people these superheroes are “ people too” and you bring this chaos about.....this shot doesn’t happen to people. People have normal problems. Shitty dates, shitty girlfriends, buddies that fuck your girl, bosses that treat you like garbage....just like 1960’s and 70’s Peter Parker....which is what made Spiderman so great to people back then. A little sliver of normalcy. And we’ve seen what these fucking Hollywood reject writers have done to these characters in the recent decades. There is not a single iota of normalcy in Peter Parker’s life. His kid was erased, his aunt has lived 30 adult lives and hasn’t died yet, his marriage was destroyed so they could tell his high school story again......Mary Jane is fucking other guys......that’s not normalcy. It horse shit. It’s a cop out on them as writers. Characters for writers like that are people like Punisher. There will never again be a sense of normalcy for Francis Castligoni ever again. The mob murdered his family. His wife, his little son, his daughter the sunshine that lights his days....that was extinguished by the mob. Not a superhero accident, not some supervillain just fucking with his head. The Fucking Mob. He looked at these heroes and saw that will all their power and righteousness they stood by and allowed the mobs and gangs and cartels and lords to run amok. So in his mind as “the greatest living soldier since Captain America” he felt he needed to fill that vacuum. To drug those motherfuckers to justice because Spiderman wanted to be an avenger. Because Reed Richards didnt give a fucking shut about Lisa Castle. Because Tony Stark wanted to drink and party instead of being “the Ironman” and saving Frank Jr. That’s real. That’s what I look for in every punisher book. That common normalcy. That man who against the odds will go and take them on and never stop. Now they won’t give us that Frank Castle. They give us comic ghost rider herald of Galactus. FrankenCastle, Punisher getting yelled at and beat up by superheroes because they are too proud to face reality and fight “ a normal problem “ when realizing they created the problem of Frank Castle. That’s what I want from these fucking check listing fags who think they can write a compelling story and be “inclusive and diversified” They all fucking suck. Every last one of them after Chris Claremont. I have no faith in any of them anymore. I haven’t bought a comic since 2008 because of Them. And them alone. Because I knew back then they’d pull shit like this. You sir have not figured that out yet. You bought the lie instead of telling them what they needed to hear. They need to hear the sound of the Check Bouncing at the bank from their publisher because the publisher can’t sell books with shitty stories. So go ahead. Keep buying. Keep making videos. It’ll change nothing.
Joseph Fazio Batman’s son isn’t going to be normal because he was raised by his mother who was a terroriist also to empathize and relate to a character has nothing to do with what happens to them but how they feel you never lost a son but you were able to relate to Batman in death in the family, also about aunt may living thirty years comics are not a one to one recreation of real life
Joseph Fazio one there have been entrie stories dedicated to the fact that these characters can’t have normal lives and also are you ignoring all the good stories where there haven’t been normalcy and also as I’ve stated elsewhere realistic does not equal good

@@medalgear654 Once again: lives are on the line. Bane is a mass-murdering sociopath. Batman wants to stop him. Why, at that point in the story, would anyone care about whatever playground rules the villain wants to set?

(you know, except now we don't have an Alfred, but that's for some other writer to deal with if this story ever gets picked back up, which it probably won't)
@@XIII_Vanitas Well, yeah. That IS part of Thomas's whole motivation for doing literally EVERYTHING afterall. Sapping emotions for his son was part of what drove him. Our batman knew this and had no choice but to manipulate that as to not break his code and outright kill him. You can't lock up batman and you can't have batman as your enemy. Convincing him to switch sides or at the very least, not be an enemy was our batman's only option. Exploiting his character, any character, through means of manipulation, that's just another gadget in his toolbelt.
@@Hadeks_Marow I mean both Bruce and Thomas wanted the same exact thing. Family. They're both stubborn mules, but would have a basis to agree on from there. Bruce could see Thomas' pain, and just knew his father was a broken man (moreso then Bruce ever was). It's a similar situation to Laughs, where Laughs took "Batman Always Wins" too far.
@@Cabolt44 Yup, don't get me wrong, there was sincerity in the sentiment but it could be said that the use of sentiment was only used because it needed to be. Batman is meant to be the dark and brooding type. Sentiment isn't part of what it means to be batman (not in public) unless it was needed, which it was. Him showing him that being batman makes him happy, that could be a lie or it could be the truth, either way, Bruce's happiness and well-being was Thomas's motive. Thomas knows Bruce is a Wayne, stubborn as a mule. He can't condone him putting his life at risk (similar to how alfred can't or couldn't at first) but he knows a Wayne doesn't give up, that this would go no where, so the only choice he had left was to battle forever until one ends up dead or the other option, he settles for bruce's happiness at the cost of safety. It's not an easy choice and neither one was desired. That's why Thomas can't say anything, he is defeated via ultimatum: Fight a battle no one can win and everyone loses. . . or just walk away. He took the only road forward and he hates it. He will never bless Bruce's wishes to be batman, even after my ending. That's why he didn't turn back to even look at him when walking away, too many conflicting emotions, disgust, hatred, sadness, lack of contentment. He does want for bruces future to be of happiness though and that's what tipped the scales enough for him to make his choice, that, and batman's--no, BRUCE's smile when he offered out a hand to help him up off the ground (it might have been fake, but Bruce didn't want any more bloodshed one way or the other, too many people died already).

Looking at Thomas Wayne as a father, I understand why he just only wants a happy life for Bruce. But after Bruce proves his point to his father, he should have reconcile with him. After everything that's happened, maybe joining the Bat Family would have been nice. But trust issues after he beats down the whole family and unnecessary killing Alfred will not make him in the list so it's much better if they just separate and shows us the revival of Martha Wayne and Alfred in a Lazaro's pit or maybe a white lantern ring.
Hadder Yuri a I couldn’t agree more
@@DisKorruptd pretty sure it broke damian more than bruce lmao
I hope they retcon this story, so Thomas sees everything Bruce has done for Gotham and himself smile knock on the door, Alfred answers and is shocked
Thomas: Hello Alfred, may I come in?
Kiteman: hell yeah!
What a lost opportunity bringing Thomas Wayne back was. 🤦🏻♂️
It started good with "the button" then, things began to go downhill after they brought him back for the shitty bane arc.
Joseph Fazio Batman’s son isn’t going to be normal because he was raised by his mother who was a terroriist also to empathize and relate to a character has nothing to do with what happens to them but how they feel you never lost a son but you were able to relate to Batman in death in the family, also about aunt may living thirty years comics are not a one to one recreation of real life
James Codeline agree to disagree. I want more normalcy brought to these “complex” characters. It gets to the point of stupidity.
Joseph Fazio one there have been entrie stories dedicated to the fact that these characters can’t have normal lives and also are you ignoring all the good stories where there haven’t been normalcy and also as I’ve stated elsewhere realistic does not equal good

I feel like there could have been some dialog after Batman knocks Thomas on his back where Bruce tells him, "My father, was a kind man. You are not a kind man. You are broken. You are broken and only serve to attempt to break others. This is not your world. You keep trying to push me, make me choose happiness, make me choose what I want." but then he stops and looks around, at catwoman, at the batfamily and at his own reflection in the mirror. Not to me, but to yourself." he lends out a hand offering to help Thomas up back to his feat. "You owe the boy you lost that much." Thomas hesitates but takes Bruce's hand. It wasn't a happy moment for anyone. We then jump to a scene outside of the GCPD. Thomas begins walking away, not saying anything, not looking back at anyone. After everything he worked for, everything he worked to destroy, and now he's at the point where he's just walking away from it all, how could he say anything really let alone show his face? Before he gets far Bruce says one last thing. "This is not your world. . . but it could be, if you let it." A few moments pass and still he can't even bring himself to turn to look at Bruce, at the man he wronged so much and so many times over. That's my headcanon anyways, it fixes the story for me, well, except for how it cheapens everything BEFORE this ark with Thomas Wayne.
@@Hadeks_Marow Yeah this was too bland man like this is the father who raised him up to the time he died, this really killed the purpose of why they became batman like wtf was this shit
@@FatherUno Or it could be that Thomas is a weaker man than Bruce. Both Thomas and Bruce died when they lost their family. What replaced Bruce was his vow, that much is canon. In my mind thats really sells home the point that BRUCE is the one true Batman and not Thomas.
That's why I kept referring to him, Thomas, as a "Broken man", pain breaks people and as a Father who lost a child, well, that might even be worse pain than a child loosing both their parents.

And THAT is how it should have ended. Something like that wraps it up WAY more cleanly where they both just decide to go there separate ways, like how it always has been before this. That's how you TRUELY return to the status quo.
(you know, except now we don't have an Alfred, but that's for some other writer to deal with if this story ever gets picked back up, which it probably won't)
too sappy
That's why Thomas can't say anything, he is defeated via ultimatum:
Fight a battle no one can win and everyone loses. . . or just walk away.

I thought it was amazing, very dark. And I’ve waited a long time for this. Once again Benny you did an excellent job! Please make more videos like this
Batman is GOATified
very helpful, worth the watch
Looking at Thomas Wayne as a father, I understand why he just only wants a happy life for Bruce.
But after Bruce proves his point to his father, he should have reconcile with him.
After everything that's happened, maybe joining the Bat Family would have been nice.
But trust issues after he beats down the whole family and unnecessary killing Alfred will not make him in the list so it's much better if they just separate and shows us the revival of Martha Wayne and Alfred in a Lazaro's pit or maybe a white lantern ring.
And maybe a few team of the og bat and batdad in the future.
And finally completing the family by Making Bruce Wayne's real brother a good guy.
comic always have a really bad tendency of not talking like people above the age of 16 and trying to work things out like a reasonable person, but instead go straight to punching kicking and forming complex schemes that really could have better been resolved with a clarifying question.
wow, great video. thanks so much
I know this is disappointing but can I just say I love the fact that the ventriloquist was a big part of this
What will happen to Thomas and Alfred will he come back my head is spinning right now
Thomas Wayne will probably take him to a Lazarus Pit to atone! or Damien will do it
@@sonnywoods6846 They may use that 'Nain' Pit. That was mentioned, maybe Thomas will trade his life for Alfred's? Narratively speaking Thomas's purpose has little to no purpose now other than maybe redemption.
@@Naruku2121 Man they wasted this character, would have been better if he "helped" batman. Him going around killing criminals like red hood but to the extreme think if Batman went to Jason and asked what is going on? Having to hunt down this killer who is not just killing people but ALL of batman's rogues gallery. Think if he kills the joker and became the new joker but to more of a extreme, doing what ever it took to keep his son safe.
“We are not family the butler was family dad was family”
