I have the 16 egg incubator. You have to keep the styrofoam around it. For chicken eggs I have mine set to 38.4 since it’s winter and cold inside. It stays between 98 and 101. Sometimes goes up to 102. Add small amounts of water at a time if the humidity goes to high open the vent at the top. I leave mine open slightly and the humidity stays the same for along time. Great review ! We just bought one like this for my son for his birthday . We found it online at Walmart for $26.99 and I thought for that price you couldn't go to wrong . We have never hatched chicks before in all the years we have raised them . It's been a year since you made this video is there anything else we should know about it . I'm still confused about some of the functions on it . Thanks for sharing !
A couple of the things I would look for are 1. How well it is insulated and 2. is the temperature in F or C. The better the insulation, the more consistent the temperature will be. To simulate a hen sitting on eggs, I have found that a consistent temperature is pretty important. Good luck with the incubation - it will be a great project to do with your son. Enjoy!!! - Rick

Hi there, I wished I would have seen your review before I got the safego 16 eggs incubator. I have everything going as you mention, even the styrofoam jacket and the worm wheel is doing it's thing. However, my heating source does not seem to put out enough, even at 39.0, my hygrometer only reads 33'celcius and i also have a kitchen thermometer which i can slide into one of the side holes and that only reads 31'C... I just upped the temperature to 40'C and waiting to see if there will be a change on my hygrometer app. I'm just wondering if the heater is actually working or it I'm only getting heat from the fan motor :(
Hopefully you can get it calibrated and it holds the heat as it needs to. Mine didn't. Many of the comments to this video were from folks stating theirs worked fine and the review was wrong. I just know it didn't work for me and others have also had similar issues. Thanks for watching. - Rick
Hello there, well I was never able to bring the temperature up passed 35'C (reading on my hygrometer) even though I had the incubator temp cranked to the max of 40'C!! At the 25th day (the max hatching day) one chick made 2 holes in the shell but that was it...at day 28 I had to pull the plug :'(. Talk about a first bad experience!
Actually you threw away the Styrofoam and basically messed up the unit. I bought a 16 egg incubator from them and was about to take it out of the Styrofoam. Soon I realized why not keep it on so the heater won't have to work hard. Later I read in one of the leaflets that I'm not supposed to remove it. Iv successfully hatched eggs in it so far three times
What that meant was that after calibrating the incubator - the setting on the unit to achieve 99.5 F was 38.9 c. The actual temp sensor on the unit was off by 1.4 c. Since the unit doesn't convert to Celsius, I just wrote the calibrated temp on top to avoid having to do it in the future. Thanks for stopping by and watching. - Rick
