    I've used this incubator for 2 hatching rounds so far. I find that putting a towel under and around it keeps the temperature stable. Also, I bought a small thermometer with a humidity reader on it and put it inside. This is super helpful to cage how much water you need to put in the bottom.

    I have 1 of this Amazon incubator too they're awesome I use it 2 times and it was a success.
    But a few tips for you though
    1- you can remove the foam box for better viewing so then you can also see the rotation of the eggs and also making videos
    2- you should never add water in to the ventilator that's a high risk of fire and frying the incubator with your eggs and chicks
    3 - you should full the bottle with warm water and fill both sides at the bottom and just leave it and the humidity will set itself sometime up sometime down but it will be ok and on day 18 you can add more water than usual to raise the humidity but don't let it past the mesh tray at the bottom to avoid getting the eggs wet and the spray bottle is not really necessary it's usually there for spraying on the walls on the inside of the incubator to keep it a bit cool if the eggs are getting too hot but at the temperature that the incubator is set on you won't be needing the spray bottle

      Thank you chavito for your tips. We had a great success rate with this incubator. Another viewer also brought it to my attention about spraying water into the top. I do appreciate it. On my following video "lockdown day" I do cover that and correct my mistake. We had such a hard time keeping the heat up when we removed outside portion. Perhaps if we did it in warmer weather but it was still winter here and we heat with a wood stove so it was hard to keep it up. I cover that in my second video aswell. If you have any other tips, that would be great. I'm glad there is more info out there now about this incubator. It had so many bad reviews but we actually really like it. We are currently working on our hatch day video and had 8 hatch.

    There are 2 compartments for water and you think you should start filling the large compartment. If the humidity is not high enough, you also fill the other compartment.
    If the humidity then becomes too high, you can adjust the humidity control at the top

    • @PloughmansBackyard
      @PloughmansBackyard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I take the humidity control pack out during incubation and use both compartments for water. That is correct. Also using the air vent helps. Thank you for your feedback and watching. The hole in the top is a vent, it isn't made to put water in. Your humidity is high because that vent is completely closed. That vent is directly over electricity, you don't want to much water there.

    we bought this incubator last year and when we pulled it out today to use it again, the thermometer control is a full 10 degrees off. We have had to set it to max temp of 40 C to bring it up to 99. That will work but it means the heater is going almost constantly to keep it there it seems. Iv got a kitchen thermometer iv been checking it with, and an indoor outdoor like yours with the humidity gauge both set on fF to confirm (in the states). Its sufficient to do the job but now Im putting off adding eggs until Im sure its not going to poop out or just quit working. Iv got a silkie sitting on eggs that I want to add, but shes got over 20 lol. So if I can hatch half of them, we will get more babies.
    I wish I knew how to reset the thermometer.

I am now doing a test with only 4 eggs.

Did you try to restore your factory settings? You press + and - buttons as the same time and hold them down for 5 or so seconds until the buzzer beeps? The screen should flash 888 indicating it has restore back to the factory setting. Let me know how it goes and if you when success. I am curious.

      The lights are suppose to turn off and on as the roller only roll for a specific duration of time, and at a certain time allotment. So when the light is on the rollers are turning. That is completely normal.

    I think I have the same incubator, but mine has no humidity meter and I’m so confused!! On average, do you know how often you put water inside and how much you put??

    • @PloughmansBackyard
      @PloughmansBackyard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So for the first 8 days I put around 20-40 ml in around every 3 days. Then more often between day 8-16, day 17-hatch I'm putting 100ml (full bottle) in a few times a day to keep the humidity up, you want to see moisture on the sides of the incubator walls. Have you seen my newest video? Start to finish? I recommend watching that. I also have links in the description where you can purchase a hygrometer to keep track of the humidity.

      Hi SunshineCountry, the red and black cord is for using the incubator on a battery. For instance if you lose power or are off grid it is able to run off a simple car battery or solar battery. if you have hydro you don't need it to run the incubator. Hope that answers your question.

    How often do you add water

    • @PloughmansBackyard
      @PloughmansBackyard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. So during the incubation period maybe once every 2-3 days. I kept the water level just under the little whole off the side. As for the lockdown phase of incubation I added water a few times a day to keep the humidity level really high. During the first portion of incubation as a rule of thumb the heat is more important that having accurate water in the incubator, the last portion, lockdown portion, it is more important to have the humidity level high, having plenty of water, than the heat. I hope this helps. 🙂
