You two have become my two favorite reaction movie watchers. And that's for two reasons. I think that's the most important thing to me I don't want to watch a reaction video from somebody who is super familiar with what they're reacting to. But more than anything else you two both seem to have a love of cinema in a way that I don't see very many other reaction channels have. And I like a lot of channels. But you two seem to have a genuine love of the actual mechanics of Cinema in you talk about things in terms of lighting and camera work and writing and other things that make me think of all the reaction channels that I watch TH-cam would be my favorite actually sit down and have a beer with.
"Okay...okay...!" Nice reaction guys. This movie is my favorite of the franchise for many reasons. Story, connection to the first, development of Riggs and the introduction of Joe Pesci. And Patsy Kensit. Who says he didn't crush for her in this movie is lying. 😅
The end credits with George Harrison's Cheer Down playing in the background, while the camera pans out to the sight of the port as the sun rises is one of the most evocative closing sequences I've ever seen. It combines the moving quality of the song with an odd sense of nostalgia, which has never failed to draw me in from the first time I watched the movie in the theater!!!
That type of shot technique was nothing new when this movie was made. It's been used in both the opening and closing shots of movies. "Cheer Down" was really the best part of the closing credits. It fit in perfectly with the story because it's saying, in so many words "No matter how bad it may seem, it's going to be alright".
@davestang5454, I didn't mean to suggest the pan was innovative or a different kind of look, just a very engaging vista, which tied into the overall feeling of the sequence, IMO. If it's of interest to you, there are at least a couple of clips of just the end credits on YT which have elicited quite a number of interesting comments along the lines of what I've said.
I'm so happy you two are finally continuing this series this was actually how I discovered you two randomly with your first reaction, hope you keep going it has a special place this series and it only continues to keep getting better from here! Happy Holidays 😊
The joke the other cops played on Murtaugh was building him a "rubber tree" plant. It's a good joke on the surface because of the commercial starring his daughter, but when you consider the bad guys are South African, it takes on a deep symbolism that most people don't get. Solid gag and reference.
37:18 - Mythbusters tested that scenario, including pouring liquid nitrogen over the bomb. They found that the tub probably would provide enough protection from the bomb, though both of them would be deafened by the blast. They also found that pouring liquid nitrogen over both the explosive and the battery delayed the bomb's explosion for _15 minutes_ meaning Murtaugh would have had time to leave the house.
Mythbusters is NOT sound science. A lot of the things they claim "Busted" are actually plausible. I would respect that show much more if they admit in the opening sequence that they are fallible and can come to the wrong conclusions.
Yay! I'm so happy you're returning, and I think you'll like the cast additions as the series progresses. You get Jet Li in the last one, in his first Hollywood role! You might want to re-watch the first, as there are plot points in it that pay off in the rest.
Every movie in the franchise has everything you could want. Great action and pacing, but with plenty of time to breathe. Laugh-out-loud comedy, but with no shortage of tender moments and relatable drama. The acting and chemistry are off the charts, and there's no shortage of scenes or stuntwork to inspire filmmakers, all backed by a nice unimposing soundtrack. Looking forward to your reactions to Lethal Weapon 3+4!
I'm so glad you guys are finally getting to the rest of these. I know you're busy, but all four films are SO good! Can't wait to watch them with you! ❤
The guy who plays Pieter Vorstedt was in Dead Man's Chest. When Jack is in Tortuga gathering 99 souls, he's the old guy that says he thinks he should get out and see the world while he's still young.
In the original script they were going to let Martin die at the end of the film. It was a last minute decision to let him live. They honestly thought the series wasn’t going to continue. Glad they kept it together. Great character chemistry, such a deep family love for one another, and it gets even deeper in the later films. They are not just partners, or friends, they truly become brothers. Such a great franchise.
It may have been resolved with test audiences. This has happened with may movies. A test audience hates the ending and they end up reshooting it. Reshoots are commonplace when they have the money.
I just gotta say that this is the only reaction channel that I’m subscribing to. Not just your reactions, but your intelligent commentary is awesome. It shows that you’re really passionate when it comes to cinema. With that being said, I would recommend that you check out Riddick trilogy if you haven’t already. They’re excellent sci-fi/action/horror movies. And also one of the scariest movies I ever watched, and I watched a lot of them, Event Horizon. That movie haunted my dreams for years.
Originally Riggs was supposed to die after being shot by the Ambassador. At the end, Roger watched a video Riggs made for him in the event he died. They thought it was to dark and they changed the ending and added the conversation with them joking around at the end that is this version.
46:22 This policewoman is John Connor's adoptive mother in Terminator 2, and I never understood why there is a picture of her with Ton Crus in this scene.
I'm glad yall tuned into this sequel, one of my favorite cop's comedy movies. Riggs and Murtaugh's chemistry is awesome. Joe Pesci added to this franchise also dope.
True, I love the 4 movies equally, they all add something, someone, a scene, a music, characters...they're all awesome. and the ending of fourth is PERFECT
It is so rare that they gave Murtaugh an age appropriate wife and brought back the same actress (well, everyone) in all 4 movies. Typical Hollywood would stipulate that the character dies of old age on her 35th birthday between films 1 and 2
I remember reading that there were two endings, the original draft had Riggs dying. But test audiences scored higher with the Riggs surviving ending. You can also see the "Nakatomi building" after the hotel pool scene. Joel Silver produced both franchises.
One of my most beloved movie franchises. Bought this on DVD back when DVD first came out and two things interesting. Richard Donner has the stilt house built specifically for that scene. And originally, Rika was supposed to live, but they wanted Riggs to be the guy who is just on the edge. Plus, they needed the way clear for Renee Russo in the next two movies. 😁
So happy you are continuing Lethal Weapon. The first one was good, but I enjoyed the sequels more because they added comedy to it. Plus, I love Joe Pesci as Leo Getz.
I agree that the sequels didnt fail the expectations which is very rare. And while I love Joe Pesci in the movies, I have to say that I love Rene Russo more (especially after watching The Thomas Crown affair). The whole cast has such great chemistry. There are not many franchises that have that.
@MartinRajkovic Rene Russo was amazing. That's why my favorite Lethal Weapon is the 3rd one because she was a badass and I love her relationship with Riggs.
I actually saw this video pop up first, but I went back and watched your reaction to the first one before I watched this 😄 Glad you came back to the series. I hope you finish all four 😁
Mark Rolston (Hans) was also in Aliens as Drake, along with Jeanette Goldstein who gets blown up on the diving board. Grand L Bush also plays one of the cops (he was also in 1st movie) and he was Agent Johnson in Die Hard. Patsy Kensit was best known as the lead singer of Eigth Wonder. The surfboard death is reminiscent of an infamous scene in The Omen, also drected by Richard Donner. Lethal Weapon 2 is my favourite, followed by 1, 3 and 4.
Thank you for finally returning to this series! I'm a child of the 80s and I love action movies from 80s and 90s so much and I've really enjoyed your reactions as well as your analysis.
A great reaction to a great sequel! The "Lethal Weapon " films are a great blend of action, comedy & social commentary, in this case, apartheid. Mel Gibson & Danny Glover's chemistry is stronger than ever, but Joe Pesci steals the show! "Lethal Weapon 3" is my favorite, which, hopefully you'll react to soon! "Big smile!" "Big smile!" 😁 Suggestions: "Krampus," "Silent Night, Violent Night," "The Substance," "Blink Twice," "The Menu," "Monkey Man," "Nimona," "The Color Purple (1985)," "Places in the Heart," "Ready Or Not," "Don't Blink," "Fargo," "I Saw the TV Glow" & "Skeleton Crew."
19:20 he is such an good actor, loved him in home alone too | 36:05 hey thats Vasquez and the gangster that was shot by his boss was her partner from Aliens
Another great one. And love Leo, it's always a worry when they add another character to a such a solid duo but it works. And love the South African accent. Just hate how the girl died...
These movies are so darn good! Every single one is a treat. And yeah, there's some true beauty to movies made in this time. You can feel the stress Murtaugh is dealing with in scenes like the toilet bomb. The nervous sweat. And the explosions just hit hard. They forged that partnership in the first movie and in this one they just went through a lot. But you could feel that they'd go through hell together and find a way to come out the other side of it.
I'm so happy that Mel and Danny are making a new Lethal Weapon movie. Mel will be directing it as well(based on the vision of the original director, the late great Richard Donner), so it should be a fun final ride for our favorite duo 😎
The show they’re watching in the family room is an nice Easter egg- it’s Tales From the Crypt which Richard Donner was involved with and that particular episode stars his wife (also the police department psychologist in the Lethal Weapon series). ❤
The amount of heart and soul this movie has with all the jazz music always makes me tear up a bit. Riggs has gone through so much shit and how he and Murtaugh's relationship grows over these movies he truly is apart of his family welcoming him and what not. Also lets not forget Leo who is honestly the heart of this movie he works like a scalpel and just gets right in there making me love his scenes so much. Hopefully you will watch LW 3 & 4 soon.
Lethal Weapon franchising is one of those, that every chapter is good. even the 4th that is considered the weak one. Every movie does add something into the universe.
South African apartheid was a massive issue "The Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) was a British organisation that was at the centre of the international movement opposing the South African apartheid system and supporting South Africa's non-white population who were oppressed by the policies of apartheid. The AAM changed its name to ACTSA: Action for Southern Africa in 1994, when South Africa achieved majority rule through free and fair elections, in which all races could vote."
@@donnaroo8042 It’s hard to believe Mandela was only released from prison about seven months after LW2 hit theaters. I was only 11-12 at the time but it was a huge news story. I can see why younger people watching LW2 now might not realize why the South Africans made such great villains in 1989.
This was during the time when fighting against Apartheid (segregation) was at it's highest against South Africa. Calling Murtaugh a "kaffir" was a racial slur. Movies and TV shows were addressing it.
Murtaugh's house was also the Griswolds' in _National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation._ The same street as _The Partridge Family, Bewitched,_ and _I Dream of Jeannie_ houses. Richard Donner directed the first four. Mel Gibson is directing the final film in the franchise.
Y'all said it, these movies feel so grounded because of the relationship between Riggs and Murtah. These films work, the plot motivations make sense because we buy their friendship/brotherhood from their on-screen chemistry/charisma. AND Leo being a 3rd wheel but in a way that feels both forced (by circumstance) and inevitable, I love the continual character work through this franchise.
1:03:05 The best of the legacy. Especially for Riggs (Mel Gibson) He got his justice for Victoria Lynn and Ricca Vanden-Hääs. Yes I did put respect on Patsy Kensit name.
More to come guys. And amazingly they are all good. And Leo stays onboard to the end. Y'all were so much fun to watch while you watched. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.

I remember seeing opening weekend on a pack Saturday night i wasn't old enough to buy any R rated tickets , yet i still bought a ticket and saw it in 70mm (blow -up) and like the audience had a fantastic time. LW2 was part of a great summer of '89 with Last Crusade , Batman and more !
@@donnaroo8042 it's 2am currently and I just got home from the bar after getting Taco Hell...wild guess where I'm at? 😂 I definitely could use that toilet...and to make better life decisions lol
The police woman who died in the pool was also John Connor's foster mother in _Terminator 2: Judgment Day,_ badass Pvt. Vasquez in _Aliens,_ the poor Irish mother in _Titantic,_ a vampire in _Near Dark,_ and Enterprise-B science officer in _Star Trek: Generations._

You definitely nailed it with your comment man! Pun intended😂 I've felt exactly the same way from the first time I saw it in the theater too!
Love the way films were shot back then. All practical sets and effects and the focus on cinematography. Everything feels really grounded
And all the stunts actually obey the laws of physics.
I'm so happy you two are finally continuing this series this was actually how I discovered you two randomly with your first reaction, hope you keep going it has a special place this series and it only continues to keep getting better from here! Happy Holidays 😊
The absolute best entry of the franchise. The last one written by the great Shane Black.
Danny Glover is not only a participant in such justified demonstrations in the film.
The guy who plays Pieter Vorstedt was in Dead Man's Chest. When Jack is in Tortuga gathering 99 souls, he's the old guy that says he thinks he should get out and see the world while he's still young.
the red head cop woman, in the swiming pool, was Vasquez in "Aliens" and John Connors's foster mom in "Terminator 2"
And the Irish mom in Titanic (you know the one, lol)
Also "Diamondback" in "Near Dark", one of my favorite vampire movies
She's Jenette Goldstein. Always fun to see her pop up.
Didn't even realise you never watched the sequels, all 4 are great. What a treat this is.
finally!!!!!!! been waiting foreverforyou guys to finish this series!
This is the only movie franchide thats consistent thru the entire series. Each one is thoroughly entertaining and keeps that heart the entire time.
Agreed 100%.
True, I love the 4 movies equally, they all add something, someone, a scene, a music, characters...they're all awesome. and the ending of fourth is PERFECT
agreed! I feel like the 5th one will somehow maintain that all these years later too!
@@garretthorsch8143 I just wish Richard Donner was still here to direct it. I think Mel is. And we all know he's a phenomenal director.
It is so rare that they gave Murtaugh an age appropriate wife and brought back the same actress (well, everyone) in all 4 movies. Typical Hollywood would stipulate that the character dies of old age on her 35th birthday between films 1 and 2
Every time I watch this movie I say OK OK for like two weeks lol
😂😂 True story!
Only two weeks? I've never stopped... along with "THEY F*** YOU AT THE DRIVE-THRU."
I remember reading that there were two endings, the original draft had Riggs dying. But test audiences scored higher with the Riggs surviving ending.
You can also see the "Nakatomi building" after the hotel pool scene. Joel Silver produced both franchises.
This is a great franchise glad you chose to continue it. Don't forget Contact (1997)!
Awesome, Awesome Movie and Work Guys, Thanks❤ Greetings from Helsinki, Finland🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
This is one series that don't have a bad film....in fact it think they get better with each entry
hmm idk I think 3 is weaker than the others
Jeanette was in T2 :)
@@piotrangelus7534 Also Predator 2. She's the female cop the Predator spares because she's pregnant.
@piotrangelus7534 It was Maria Conchita Alonso in Predator 2. She was with Arnie in The Running Man as well
@@piotrangelus7534That too. And Titanic
@@SSD_Penumbra In Predator2 was Maria Conchita Alonso as pregnant Leona Cantrell, not Jeanette Goldstein.
"Big smile!" "Big smile!" 😁
Suggestions: "Krampus," "Silent Night, Violent Night," "The Substance," "Blink Twice," "The Menu," "Monkey Man," "Nimona," "The Color Purple (1985)," "Places in the Heart," "Ready Or Not," "Don't Blink," "Fargo," "I Saw the TV Glow" & "Skeleton Crew."
Glad I found a channel like this that loves movies as much as me.
19:20 he is such an good actor, loved him in home alone too | 36:05 hey thats Vasquez and the gangster that was shot by his boss was her partner from Aliens
Clicked so fast 😂❤ these movies have so much heart and humor and drama. Love all of them!
Another great one. And love Leo, it's always a worry when they add another character to a such a solid duo but it works. And love the South African accent. Just hate how the girl died...
The Lethal Weapon series is rare as every movie is solid, and as you meet new characters, they become part of the family, too.
Murtaugh's stuff always gets destroyed...his house, his car, his toilet. Poor Roger.
This is such a great series, the camaraderie, the humour, the poignant moments. I can't wait for you to see number 3 and 4. Both are great imo.
Great movie!
Chekhov's nail gun AND Chekhov's dislocated shoulder
These movies are so darn good! Every single one is a treat.
And yeah, there's some true beauty to movies made in this time. You can feel the stress Murtaugh is dealing with in scenes like the toilet bomb. The nervous sweat. And the explosions just hit hard.
They forged that partnership in the first movie and in this one they just went through a lot. But you could feel that they'd go through hell together and find a way to come out the other side of it.
Yes!!! What a treat! Thanks guys. Check out Big Trouble In Little China, directed by John Carpenter, that's a banger too!
I'm so happy that Mel and Danny are making a new Lethal Weapon movie. Mel will be directing it as well(based on the vision of the original director, the late great Richard Donner), so it should be a fun final ride for our favorite duo 😎
Had no idea! 😮
Joe Pecsi As Leo Perfect casting he so Hilarious in the rest of the Franchise
Thanks for the great content!
'Snatch' and 'The Gentleman' soon please! 😂
This is so kind and generous, thank you so much!! They’re both on our list, and we’ll get to them very soon!❤️
"No red wire, blue wire stuff? Funny you should bring that up, lmao!!!
The 2 on 1 vs Jet Li in LW4 is AMAZING.
@@chrisrubenstahl2046 hell's yeah! I had no idea 4 was considered the weak one. It's far more memorable to me than 3.
LW3 was the weak movie in the franchise. Dumb "bad cops" theme. LW4 had Jet Lee, which automatically upgraded it.
Awesome reaction as usual you two! I wish you could've seen the first three in theaters. Those are easily my favorites.
"...but...but... you're bleck"
Richard Donner was a great director, he made lots of great movie.
South African apartheid was a massive issue
"The Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) was a British organisation that was at the centre of the international movement opposing the South African apartheid system and supporting South Africa's non-white population who were oppressed by the policies of apartheid. The AAM changed its name to ACTSA: Action for Southern Africa in 1994, when South Africa achieved majority rule through free and fair elections, in which all races could vote."
Yes, I think that it's hard for people who weren't alive for it to realize what an on-the-nose choice for a purely evil villain this was.
@@donnaroo8042
It’s hard to believe Mandela was only released from prison about seven months after LW2 hit theaters.
I was only 11-12 at the time but it was a huge news story. I can see why younger people watching LW2 now might not realize why the South Africans made such great villains in 1989.
It’s just unfortunate that Mandela was a communist
That reminds me...I think they should watch District 9
look at the mess South Africa is now, worked out well
Even when they're facing a likely death, they still can't help but to trash Trish's bad cooking. 😂
When you hear the Looney Tunes theme over the WB logo you know that whatever's coming it's coming strapped to an ACME rocket.
Especially for Riggs (Mel Gibson)
He got his justice for Victoria Lynn and Ricca Vanden-Hääs.
Yes I did put respect on Patsy Kensit name.
More to come guys. And amazingly they are all good. And Leo stays onboard to the end.
Y'all were so much fun to watch while you watched.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
❤❤ Patsy Kensit was an incredibly beautiful woman in this movie! A captivating woman!
“You were right, ya know? There wasn’t enough room.” That gets me every time 😂
Thank God you guys are finally finishing the lethal weapon series thank you, been waiting for your guys's reactions ever since you guys watch the first one. Lol
Haha awe thank you so much for your patience, we're so happy we get to pick this back up again! Hope you enjoy!!
Dang you beat me to it! I came to the comments to say the same thing. 😂😂😂
Pin 📍 Please
I remember seeing opening weekend on a pack Saturday night i wasn't old enough to buy any R rated tickets , yet i still bought a ticket and saw it in 70mm (blow -up) and like the audience had a fantastic time. LW2 was part of a great summer of '89 with Last Crusade , Batman and more !
I need that toilet. Bomb blew up underneath it and it fell down a floor on top of a cop car and that thing barely had a scratch. Talk about quality
No offense, but what are you eating that you need a toilet that durable?
@@donnaroo8042 it's 2am currently and I just got home from the bar after getting Taco Hell...wild guess where I'm at? 😂 I definitely could use that toilet...and to make better life decisions lol
@@donnaroo8042 Taco Bell?
The police woman who died in the pool was also John Connor's foster mother in _Terminator 2: Judgment Day,_ badass Pvt. Vasquez in _Aliens,_ the poor Irish mother in _Titantic,_ a vampire in _Near Dark,_ and Enterprise-B science officer in _Star Trek: Generations._
watch 3 and 4, they are films that you will love..❤️
Thanks to the best couple reactors on YT ATB from 🇨🇦
Thanks for the love! It means the world. Sending all the love to Canada! ❤️😃
You guys have to watch Maverick (the Mil Gibson one not Tom Cruise one) also directed by Richard Donner, you'll know why I'm suggesting it when you see it.🤫
