10 seems low. I got 17 from one single pack yesterday.

A big reason they made Llanowar Elf clones is so they could have 1/1 elf dorks in any set. Cuz only Dominaria has Llanowar Elves, but lots of planes have elves.

Got a foil Lotus and a full art Guardianship in the single box I bought, a box I bought at the cheapest Ebay preorder price, and even that felt lik I didn't got my money back because of how insanely high the cost to entry was.

Holy crap, I didn't see a fierce guardianship. Also, the land cycle is from commander legends. The battlebond lands were reprinted for commander legends 2: electric boogaloo.
That wasn't the only thing you didn't see. There was no Cyclonic Rift, no Doubling Season, no Smothering Tithe, and no Land Tax either.

As a printer myself, there’s nothing the people at the factory can probably do about the washed out look on the darker images. Most of the stuff I’ve had that blend needs to be lightened up in a pdf file. These look even worse than that. It’s the foiling probably making them darker. The customer is probably aware of this and if it’s questionable we usually contact them and let them decide what they want to do. I only do black and white but I have a pretty good idea what they are dealing with
And yet japanese card games can do foiling on dark colours no problem? Something doesn't make sense.

Bought one from a local game store expecting to take an "L" pulled the foil Borderless Jeweled Lotus and a foil Deflecting Swat. Was on a high and bought one from another local shop only pulled a Darksteel Monlith. Definitely a mad gamble.
Chase serialized cards are a terrible selling point for MTG, LOTR did successful because story wise the serialized numbered rings made sense and they were a collector item for LOTR fans, adding serialized cards to future premium products will just drive Wizards of the coast to become more greedy, mark up their boxes even more and few people will buy the product and after the hype dies down regular serialized MTG cards will plunge in value because people will lose interest in the expensive paper weight that will never see table top play.
Agreed. Serialized cards in every other set because you know they will do it multiple times a year, will fail miserably. It’s only a matter of time before people stop caring
@@abrahamdrinkin2534it doesn’t matter if the care or not. Chase cards to not add to the average value of a box. They’re for gamblers only and that will not be enough to replace people who stop buying boxes and switch to singles due to lack of value. Look at Brother’s War and Neon Dynasty, serialized and chase neons with no sustained success. They sold ok but they were good regular sets not “premium” sets. Chase cards cannot prop up masters sets.
New gimmicks and a lot of cross-overs with non MtG IP is the future for the next couple of years. Just saw the release schedule 2023-2026.
@@ROMANTIKILLER2 They already had some out there crossovers with a few secret lairs, but they've gotten really silly with it since the WH40K commander decks and the transformers cards they added to brother's war. Fallout is an especially strange choice. Of any Bethesda IP they could choose, why would they not choose the one with magic and the other stuff that already fits within the setting of MTG?
Rudy has millions invested in Magic and makes millions each year off it. You can't blame him for pushing the product. I personally will never buy a Magic product again. Their reprint policy has turned me off of any Magic box investing.

As someone who got burned out 3 years ago, coming back now it is pretty nice being able to pick up bomb after bomb in the dollar rare box at the local shop. I found so many gems, and going into it thinking I don't want to spend more than 2 bucks or so a card. The counterfit cards are getting really good to, so hard to justify spending more on cards.

I think the average box this comes in at like 100$ worth of cards outside of the 1/6 chance of hitting the lotus. The lands are under 10, the mythics are not worth much and a 3rd copy of time warp is not a money card even if it was 150$ before this reprinting. overall the feels like they tried to make a set with the highest dollar value without looking at supply or how the cards actually sell on ebay/TCG player.

just to note, collector boxes do have a chance of pulling cards out of the commander decks, which do contain new cards. No all the cards are reprints, since each commander deck contained 10 new cards per deck.

How much longer do you think they plan to keep the chaff foil common and uncommon stack in these “premium” packs? Opening a 50$ “premium collectors pack” and having to fast forward through the first 10 cards is like going to an upscale restaurant and the first course is McDonald’s served on sparkling platters. How about 3-5 list cards instead?
I'm imagining a three course meal and the appetizer is pigs in a blanket before you get your steak. It's silly how many trash cards there are in these high dollar packs and it's really annoying how they've ruined both the value and the quality of foil versions of all these cards.
This is like getting a Big Mac with a cigarette butt in the bun lol
They're clearly still at the throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks portion, probably isolating variables. I think some people might not like it but I think if they can get the correct way to store value for chase items and keep the base cheap it'll be far more healthy for the game long term. At the end of the day the core value proposition is being game pieces for a popular game, so if it can be accessible while still providing high value chase options that's probably the best mix.

They have a full table mat of the all portraits which looks fantastic as well (my LGS bought one).
Chase/serialized cards will never be able to fight excessive reprinting because as soon as the chase is rare enough, it no longer adds significant value to the box and most people will resort to just singles again.

Does anyone remember the first Modern Masters set from like 10 years ago? It had a MSRP of 6.99 usd, had good reprints and was fun to open. Only problem was the limited production.
Ten years later, no MSRP, collectors boxes with 4 packs, commander masters decks with awful mana bases, set boxes at ridiculous prices, to many versions of the same card in the set and a long etc. It’s so sad.
I opened one collector box. $300CAD got me an etched Jingzhou. I'm feeling so jaded with MTG after that box that I'm questioning future purchases.
In general buying boxes is almost always a bad idea, just buy the singles you need when the price drops. I like opening boosters though, even though it's gambling with bad odds. But this product I would never buy, not even a single booster at these prices. It's frustrating, because part of me wants to, but just look at this opening. A lot of good cards, until you think about what the packs cost...

They charge the names so they can call it a a new card. With that particular creature care it allowed them to add the druid creature type as well. Plus you can make some fun jamky
Also with cards that are functionally the same but get around the 4 cards per deck rule. I think there's three two other cards that are Llanowar. Elves but with different names, so I could have 12 Llanowar Elves in my deck if I wanted. There's three other cards that are basically shock and I liked to our 16 of them in a deck. Not a very complex deck but it did upset people so there's that.
I did 4 collector boxes and 2 set boxes. a standard jeweled in each set box, one non-foil framebreak jeweled in the 4 collectors. I was content with that and very hyped on the rest of my pulls.

It's so bad that despite being one of the rarest, it's often cheaper on the second hand market than other more common versions.

Was good fun opening!!!! Opened 12 boxes and managed a textured Selvala, Ulamog and a Lotus!!!! Selvala was on the first box and Lotus was in the 2nd last box 😂

I think that portrait cards in this set look nice.
As for the value, considering that the functional cards themselves are being reprinted to the ground and thanks to CB there's plenty available, I would not bet on those. People should probably just get them if they like the artworks without thinking too much about potential financial returns that will likely never come.

I think in a previous video, Rudy said, including serialized cards means a limited print run. So it's a hint they may plan to print CM into the ground. But the textured foil is supposed to be the ultra rare, one per case?
this half cycle of battlebond lands was in the original commander legends, baldurs gate got the other half, seems like the commander sets get 5 of the 10 battelbond lands, hopefull theyll get cheap enough to start get put into the commander decks

Except instead of serializing the masters set for value, what they decided to do is ramp the power level so that they can get all new reprint equity by destroying their foundation.

Gotta remember this is a huge set, there are 135 rares, 35 mythics and 40 additional cards from the commander decks. So it's much harder to get specific cards 😞

There are a lot of packs with doubles. It's a commander set, and they're giving you doubles. Singles are for me...
I'm not sure if you got ungodly unlucky, or if I got ridiculously lucky, but I've opened 2 boxes are got 2 Lotus's. Avacyn so far has been the rarest card I've seen, I haven't see one yet
