Perfect video demo/info. Much appreciated, as always _BaderBuilt I do like these short videos. Maybe in the future you can turn these into a series.. that way if someone is searching for specifics, they can search through your library.
I like the short vids too. Like one long one a week and a couple of short ones would be cool if it matters. Looking at an 04 FXT so now all the EJ content is getting real interesting! Lol. Keep up the great content Sir!
What oil do you recommend man. I have a ej20g version 2 sti closeddeck block motor in my mazda bounty ute 98 wrx 5speed converted to rwd. I use 15w 40 penrite oil. Im also looking to build a motor but unsure on what package to put together or parts wanting a motor to handle 500hp on pump but not push it to 500 being rwd an in a ute 😅. Any info be helpful man. Love the builds. Biggest fan from nz.

I really wish I could just go through playlists of your builds and let them go. I make my own some days but maybe other people would enjoy that as well. Just a suggestion.
Really cool vid. Definitely going to be my next weekend project on my EJ205 Bugeye. Only thing I didnt hear you mention: What are the oil pressure numbers supposed to be normally?
Do you have a video of what to look for if can’t prime the oil on a new built? I’m having issues with priming the oil. I really don’t want to take it apart again, so where should I look at first?
Firstly are your spark plugs out? The engine cranks much faster with them out. Did you pump a little oil in the pump before fitting to block? That makes big difference instead of putting in dry. If no luck, Try removing the oil filter, this can sometimes aid in priming the pump faster. Have a pan underneath ready. When it sprays out you are good to go. Hope this helps.
@@chrism6 I’m about to prime my swapped ej20x OBXT. I’m also going to remove the turbo oil feed line to make sure oil is getting there prior to firing up the motor..
My LGT takes a while for oil pressure to read 60 psi off idle. First 10km it’s at 80 psi. Oil temp gauge would be handy.....maybe that’s my next purchase🇨🇦
@@lew2003I still have the car and it’s going great. Still have the same pressure readings. No problems so far. I did change the oil pump to a 12mm at the time the engine was rebuilt 4 years ago.
What should the oil pressure be at idle if you’re running a built block and heads with a 12mm pump? And pressure at WOT
Good to know about the mechanical o-Reilly guage. I need to diagnose my car in a pinch, thanks for the advice!

Thank you josh for following up with the oil pressure situation
did you ever figure out what was the problem is.. I have the same oil pressures but already have the upgrader pump???
Anyone knows the name/size of that fitting that screws where the oil switch goes? 11mm/10mm fitting??
JDM 207? Noticed the throttle and cruise cables
Yes it is, he mentioned it in the other vid where he diagnosed the maf sensor
The throttle and cruise cables also look that way on the USDM EJ205

use penrite hpr 10w-50 mate
Which hobbs switch do you use in your fuel system setups and where do you buy them from? Thank you.
Map performance is where we order them.
Perfect thanks so much man! My radium stuff will be here soon, that switch was the last piece of the puzzle.
lol those are the same oil pressure numbers I get with 10w60 and a 12mm pump but the relief stops it at 75psi
Does that mean your max oil pressure is 75psi?
Me too, I’m using 10w60 and 12mm oil pump and a Cosworth drysump pump and Spintric 2 with the oil tank
@@jvh22a yep, done hundreds of pulls over the last 4k miles on this engine build and it hasn't exploded......yet
Okay I’m confused now.. what should the oil pressure be if you’re running a 12 mm pump on a ej257?
@@A90MKV_ if you have a stock long block, the factory bypass pressure of 70-80 psi is fine

I think he mentioned it in the previous video, when he test drove the car. I believe the oil pressure correlates with the load in the RPM range.

8:20 Just wanted to say that's more like 750ish rpm. The first line up from 0 is 500, then 750, then 1000
Was the cover photo taken on Stoneman Rd.?

Good video. Good troubleshooting.
I thought the higher the oil pressure the better? Why is to high bad?
Too much oil pressure for a low rpm will create oscillation / air pockets in oil.
the oil pressure not good enough? i think my engine pressure have lower pressure average than that...lol
Thanks for the video!!
85psi is too high?
Good info. Thanks.
VQ engines idle at 20 PSI. Drop her down a little 👀
You should start by changing the oil, might just be the wrong weight
Thats normal oilpressure for a standard ej207
Yep my 2008 JDM STi with 12mm pump has the same pressure. It’s a EJ207

Ls engines have 35-40 psi at normal, send it
