    When what you think God is telling you to do, goes against Gods word in the Bible, then it isn’t really God speaking to you. It’s YOU speaking to you.

    • @blackybohead1313
      @blackybohead1313 5 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      Christopher's no one is asking her to serve money. You can serve God while working a job to feed to your family. In fact working hard to take care of your family arguable Honors God and glorifies his name more than much else you can do. But nowhere in the Bible does it say, quit your job and let your family struggle so you can forge your own path and try to find your own happy job.

    • @blackybohead1313
      @blackybohead1313 5 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Christopher's we will ALL fall short of the glory of God as Paul says. You can without a doubt glorify God in you work! That being said, yes some people idolize their work and put God second. But there is a difference between idolizing your job, and working hard to provide for your family so they don’t starve. You can glorify God and follow him, while working to keep your family supported.
      Look at Paul did he sit at home and apply for food stamps? No! He WORKED, while sharing God’s word, all while following his purpose supplied by God.
      There is nothing Biblical about letting your family starve so you can find your “purpose”. It is very biblical to pick up your cross, work hard, support your family, and chase God every step of the way!

    • @John-vj6ss
      @John-vj6ss 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Christopher's On the taxpayers back! Where in the Bible dies it say it’s ok to look to everyone else to support your family while “putting God first”? Fact is, she cannot feed her family by her version of “putting God first”. There’s a huge difference between worshipping money above all things and earning money to feed your family. Having a good, stable job is not money worship. If that’s the life she wanted, she shouldn’t have had children and joined a nunnery instead.

    Speaking from a Lutheran point of view. Your job that you're in is where God called you to be. Serving people, doing a good job at whatever it is, is how you carry out God's will. Can you love your God, and your fellow brothers and sisters in your job. Pretty sure most jobs allow for that. In which case, all jobs can be what God has for you. The idea is vocation. You're a mother, be a good mother. Your a wife, be a good wife. To say that there is some destiny out there that God has for you and you just have to figure it out is no where in the Bible. Not only that it causes people to do crazy things like this in search of something that is just not there.

      well said. My interpretation of this finding who you are business is that it is about finding ones way back to peace of mind, rather than a rather egoic mind driven victim mentality. Peace of mind then allows wisdom and attention to what one is doing right now. Hopefully that is gamefully employed in the service of others. There is much to be found in enjoyment of most jobs if one adopts the purpose of service to fellow human beings. Service is where it is at, as you have so eloquently put it.

Only to hear them apologize or not and then hear them say “I’m a work in process” or “God is not through with me yet”. Just like if Dave would’ve kept talking to her. Especially when she kept saying “Ok, Ok”! Even Dave knew he was in for it after she said that. Watch his face after she said that. I’m the same way these day after I hear that! Often, the best ministry there is, is your family. I was chasing unicorns as well for many years to no avail. I decided to serve my wife ( who works longer hours than me), and take care of shopping and cooking and everything else. I feel more fulfilled than before.

    I step out of the car when I get a conviction to say a prayer in the parking lot before I go to work. I'll say a prayer asking God to have use for me and I do something useful for him. Later in the shift one of my co-workers starts to wonder about why I obsess with following Jesus and so I told him that Jesus is the provider and the strengthener to those who want to live on less
