I suggest the Kobo Clara Colour if you're looking for a Kindle substitute. From Kobo's UK site you can get it for £140.00 (not as cheap as a Kindle but given that you're getting a colour E-ink display and an Ereader with practically all of the same features as a Kindle I'd call that good value). It doesn't have direct support for Kindle books but if you own a Kindle there are ways to use it as a kind of DRM unlock key for migrating the Kindle books over.
Not going to chuck money at this technology until the prices get real. Amazon should be giving out kindles for free. It boggles my mind why I can't buy shares in a company that's understood this! Take thousand dorrar - make me a gazillionaire!
maybe because the color einks are much darker , worsening reading experience. maybe they thought it isnt worth for reading books as they are ost of the time B/W
@@meggi8048 yes, they are probably waiting for good color e-ink display but I believe they found out that they are missing out now. I think color kindle is on the way sooner or later. BTW- kaleido 3 is darker but still managable to read without sacrificing quality. And you got colors which is a big win even if you are only reading books :). You think you do not need colors until you try it out yourself.
Not a review of the Boox, as such, but the company behind it. I didn't like it and returned it. Oh the shit they made me go through. Before I could return it, they made me email pictures of the reader and it's case. When they finally agreed to take it back, they kept stalling me on the refund. Finally I ended up filing a complaint with PayPal, and then and only then did I receive my refund. Stay away. Stay. Far. Away.
Thanks for warning others, been hearing too much about their horrible support on reddit too, screen replacements costing over 100-150 dollars, and taking MONTHS to be done. My Nova Air's screen just died and am really turned off from everything I hear about them, it sucks because the devices are actually pretty good.
LOL! "..only had 5 whiskeys...". I love your sense of humour. I had a Boox years ago, but unfortunately it suddenly dies. I went back to my trusty Kobo, and eventually upgraded to the Kobo Aura One. the versatility of the open source Linux based Kobo OS makes it far more open and customizable than a Kindle. For example books of almost any format can easily be side loaded using just a computer file manager as well as Calibre.
My Boox Nova air's screen just died after holiday (Either screen got bent slightly from all the load of the stuff above it or high temp ) , and I have been hearing that their support is horrible , and screen replacements costing over 150 euro while taking months to be done. Make me want to never buy from Onyx /Boox again
Thanks for this review. Is there a way of telling which apps are supported before buying? For example it would be great to know before hand if I can download the Marvel Unlimited or DC Universe. Sorry if that's a daft question! I've never used Android so I'm a bit clueless!
I heard another reviewer mentioning dead pixels with this kind of screen technology of the color screen and I thought he saw it after a couple of weeks. Did you experience anything like that?
I've been looking for a side tablet just for reading books and manga. The problem is almost all of them are either way too big and bulky or extremely cheap and low quality. Maybe something like this could work?
anything 7inch or up is recommended. u scarcely need color so any black and white would work for eink if its cheaper. i highly highly recommend it runs android cause mihon and neko(mangadex) app is so good. i personally want 2 button at side for scrolling but hard to find.
Try Setting them up as Volume Buttons Not Page Turn! Then go to the Kindle App and change in Settings „use volume Buttons as Page Turn Buttons“. Works on my other Boox devices…
Too small for most graphic novels and the color just isn't there. Looks like a sweet device for reading manga but 99% of that is not color so this kind of defeats the purpose for what it is. Reading magazines is out of a question.
It would be fine if you are using the kindle app and getting your comics/graphic novels from them because then you can use guided reading mode where it just goes by each individual comic frame instead of by the page. But yea for anything full screen you should be looking at a 10in class device.
All these ereaders are overpriced dog shit. Apart from the KIndle - which is shite of another order. The only "new" tech in them is the screen. They should be much cheaper.
For the Kindle app, set it to Volume up and down and it works as Page Turns. I learnt that from my Palma!
Oh thank you.
I've been looking for a colour Kindle-Like device for reading comics on the go for ages. This looks great!
£250 amazon uk. Heart says yes. Wallet says no.
wow, expensive.

to-the-point review. will buy. thx mate!
yes more ereader reviews!!!!!! i know they are niche but i really appreciate them!!!
I can’t understand why Amazon hasn’t developed a colour kindle.
I don't understand it either 🤦🏾♀️

Colour kindle out ready for black Friday November 24
@@TahirAhmed-lg8inwhere did u get ur info from?
If we had a screen like this on a device the size of the palma then I'm sold!
so basically the bigme hibreak or hisense a7 cc?
This looks pretty cool, I just wish it was a touch bigger, the screen size looks fine for books but for comics I like a larger display.
They do, it's the note air 3 and they're 10.3"
I really want a tablet/phone with this dimension, but the lag of e reader is too annoying :(

I would be more excited if the White version was actually for sale… who knows when it could come out
I think Onyx Boox should consider the pricing. Currently it is expensive for those who are interesting to buy it.
That textured back doesn't seem to be all that helpful with the grip.🤣

I haven't seen anyone showing this tablet using marvel unlimited. Curious to see how it works when using panel viewing mode
Today's e-ink looks like 1990's LCD.
They need to use iridescence in those e-ink pixels to make the colours more vibrant.
I'm very, very, tempted by this reader. Not sure my wife will be very chuffed if I buy it though.... 😢
Looks good but at that price I'll keep using my Kindle paperwhite and wait until Amazon release thier own color e-ink reader.
Love from India, I enjoy watching your videos, Sir. Please consider reviewing the new Lenovo Tab Plus Octa JBL. Your opinion matters :D
I use Concepts Sketching app. How is the latency on it ?
Having this is better than kindle as u can use different app to read
i wish its available in malaysia
I would wish it would have current Android incl future security patches.
Thanks for the Vídeo. I like my Box Go Color but the sides buttons don’t work on Kindle App 😢

How is the zooming for the people with tired eyes? Does it adapt well to pdfs? Say example a DnD pdf?
Is it compatible with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse? Does it have a headphone jack?
Took a shot every time he said Boox Go Color 7 and I'm fairly certain I'm going to die

It looks like it's the size of a slightly bigger paperback.
Use your tablet and Kindle app!
Color screen? Put this on a smartphone next!
There is an e-ink color smartphone, made by Hisense. Actually they have more. Shearch them.
Pls Nubia neo 2
It misses pen
Anyone that knows if this reader works with google books?
Who TF's "Chris" & where's uncle spurt!?
Bugz
Hangover? 😂
No mention of pricing or price comparison to other similar devices :( I then Googled it and can see why. £250 ish! Why are these things so expensive!

Can it run Genshin and Cod Warzone? 😂
