  • Experience what 3D Video can really be. If you would like to see more of this content, please consider supporting the channel on Patreon. 3D video equipment is very expensive and time consuming to make, not to mention the high cost of travel. *Note: TH-cam Version is compressed to 1/4 original resolution at 4k, you need to direct download the episode from www.patreon.com/Sliceoflifevr to watch the 400% higher quality 8k version. The Quest 2 looks 400% sharper with the 8k direct download version*
    We get even wilder as the beads start flying in the city where the party never ends. Explore and walk the streets with stereoscopic 3D VR180, go inside bars / clubs, and join the party as we visit New Orleans, Louisiana on New Years Eve in this two part mini-series! Eli Roth has nothing on this kind of real life travel reality entertainment.
    The French Quarter is famous for its yearly Mardi Gras celebration, drawing more than 15 million tourists a year to this round the clock party town. The first episode covers day and night of Friday, December 30 2022. The second episode covers Saturday, December 31 2022 and will premiere in a few days !
    NOTE: Download TH-cam VR App on Meta Quest 2 to experience this video in actual 3D VR180. Watching on phone/PC will only display 2D VR180.
    All episodes are recorded in full RAW (19 GB / Min of Video) and color graded for uncompromising quality.
    Every week, I will release a new video of my travels around the world digitally mastered for highest quality Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, PlayStation 5 PSVR 2, HTC Vive, Pimax 8k, windows mixed reality, and other high end headsets including upcoming apple virtual reality / augmented reality.
    All filmed with the best high quality 3D 8k 60 fps 3D VR180 camera available. Only 3D if viewed on a VR headset with TH-cam VR.
    30+ hours of work goes into each 10-15 minute episode (color grading, editing, sound engineering) not including travel time and lugging around a 35 pound camera setup.
    Thank you for watching!

    Thank you for posting this video. I have a condition which keeps me housebound. I used to travel but cannot anymore. It was wonderful to feel like I was walking again and not to be gawked at by strangers. I miss times like these

      @SliceoflifeVR  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hearing I could make a difference with your condition really means a lot to me. One of the primary motivations that kept me going through the thousands of hours I’ve spent creating this content over the years was knowing I could potentially help people with it. I will never stop working to improve and continue making high quality immersive content knowing I could make a difference, even if I never end up making any money off it.

    Man, if/when VR really takes off, you’re gonna be at the forefront of a whole genre of VR exploration content. I love seeing these peeks of daily life from ground level. These videos give me almost an asmr vibe: explore and relax. So many documentaries focus on world monuments, important men, the best restaurants… but with the transportive power of VR, you don’t need those attention grabbing topics to enjoy a sense of presence in a new locale. Watching these pristine 3D videos makes me feel like I’ve been to the place in a way that even VR games don’t really capture. Wander is a great app as well for Google Streetview, but the flatness of the 360 view takes away from the feeling of presence.
    I’d been tempted when the canon came out, but I use a Sony body. Regardless, I really appreciate you taking the time to put these videos together and making them look so good. Also love your narration style. It must be a ton if work to capture and produce these clips, I don’t think the VR workflow has been perfected yet.

    • @SliceoflifeVR
      @SliceoflifeVR  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much for this comment. I was hoping others might get that sense of teleportive calm exploration immersion experience I was trying to do. I like how you called it a sort of ASMR of VR, that’s a good way of putting it!
      Yeah I felt there were to many of those documentary style videos and best of restaurants, really wanted to do something different that didnt require much thought, just pure enjoyment of being in a new location. Walking videos would be to boring I thought, so I grew it into the "Slice of Life VR" style you see now, with a sort of sneak peek into everyday life around the world.
      Wander and google earth are to low resolution and flat agreed. I also don’t like how lonely it feels with those apps, that’s why I really like Vr video instead of static pics, and the interviews along the walk I feel help with the full social experience of a trip.
      Flattered that you think so highly of the videos, it does take a lot of work to put them together, it’s so nice to hear others seeing the effort. The workflow is definitely very hard to work with, and not straightforward, this episode took 36 hours to render and ended up taking 87 gb of storage lol.

    Hello, We got the Quest 2 headset just a short while ago and I was having fun but when I got to your most amazing videos I was taken aback in amazement. You have if figured out! Walking amongst people interviewing them as you go has helped me so much. Because I am somewhat of an introvert I was thrust into this environment where people were directly in your face in absolutely amazing 3D! At first it was overwhelming and I had to look away but now after multiple viewings I am at ease with all these beautiful people. The fact you are not putting your camera on a pole way over the crowds.but are walking with them at eye level makes your videos a great success! I am addicted and want more. I have to admit, your 2 part New Orleans videos has so impressed me I keep watching them over and over. Imagine going to a country like China or Vietnam where the food vendors in their many kiosks are selling their delicacies at night. People walking around in droves in close proximity thus making the 3D experience incredibly amazing! Or attending a major carnival with people everywhere. There are so many friendly souls out there willing to say a few kind words talking to us through your beautiful 8D 3D videos. I wish you every success!

    • @SliceoflifeVR

      So happy you are enjoying the experiences. You have summarized the beauty of these experiences perfectly actually :D I love capturing slices of unfiltered real life with the random people I see along the way. Actually the #1 reason I started and am still creating this content is because I want to help as many people in the world as I can with my limited time on this earth. To brighten the day of as many people as I possibly can. So it is super cool to hear it is helping you become more comfortable with interactions! I have had some reports of others saying it has helped in that way, and I love to hear it is working for more people like yourself as well.
      Be sure to checkout the 4x higher resolution direct download version if you get the chance also :) If you think the 4k (2160) version you are watching on TH-cam VR with Quest 2 looks good, you will be absolutely blown away at how life like it looks on Quest 2 with direct download. VR180 video requires 8k resolution, as it is not like standard tv content, and the pixels are spread out so thin that 4k(2160) looks alot blurrier than 8k VR180 on Quest 2.

    I love these videos. You're the GOAT, brother. My only request is no added music. I'd like to experience these places in their pure form. If not, I understand. Even with added music, these videos are awesome. I've watched them several times. I wish you great success, man!

    • @SliceoflifeVR
      @SliceoflifeVR  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks bro! I would love to keep more of the ambient sound in the videos, unfortunately the big problem is all the copyrighted background music that is always playing in places like these. TH-cam will demonetize the entire video for even 5 seconds of music I haven’t paid for. There is just no way to drop the background music and keep all the other natural ambient noises at the same time. So I actually pay for the licenses to add the music tracks you are hearing. I could possibly add a second sound track of future episodes with more ambient noise, but still no copyrighted noise in the background on the patreon still debating it cause it’s alot more work. Spring break Ft. Lauderdale Florida coming in a few days :D

      @SliceoflifeVR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appreciate the compliment on the quality! You wouldnt believe how hard it is to share on reddit/FB groups actually. I am allotted 1 post per episode, and what are the odds that alot of people see a single post. When an episode takes 1-2 months to make and I get just the one post, you can see how it is rather difficult to spread the word lol. I think I definitely need help getting the word out there sigh. I'm thinking of a nature video again next, followed by college spring break miami, so lots of exciting content to come :D
      Haha neat that you noticed that, I legit went frame by frame on that scene and actually contemplated removing 1 more frame, but im happy I didnt as it turned out timed to perfection :D

Unfortunately, I just cant keep up with the insane amount of work and money it takes to make these videos and ive decided to launch a Patreon at www . patreon.com/sliceoflifevr . I'm still going to be posting 5 minutes or more of all the exciting new episodes on youtube every month, but i'll be taking the full length versions over to patreon where it will be 400% better quality than youtube. @SliceoflifeVR  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes sir! All episodes are playable on Quest 2 at native DCI 8k 60fps (TH-cam is streaming at 4k only) Quest 2 requires 8k video to max out its resolution (even though the screens are about 2k, 3D video math works differently) 8k video is actually 400% sharper than the 4k video you see here on TH-cam VR! (8k = 4 times 4k resolution)
      Just go to my patreon ( www.patreon.com/sliceoflifeVR ) Download the video to your pc, connect your Quest 2 to the PC via cable, transfer the video to your "movies" folder on the Quest 2, and your done! Unhook the Quest 2, go to your "Quest TV" app, and go to "my media" to watch the video in native 8192 x 4096 DCI 8k (even higher res than normal 8k lol)

      Yes it is :D When viewed with the Quest 2 or 3 it has 3D depth just like real life. The video does have two videos take at a different angles simultaneously to produce a stereoscopic 3D video.
      It plays in 4k 3D on TH-cam VR app inside the headset, but if you want a much sharper and clearer experience you will want to watch the video in full 8k 3D quality on Quest 2/3 by direct downloading off my patreon. Once downloaded with a laptop/Pc, it is fully playable on Quest 2/3 in 8k 3D in standalone mode without any laptop/pc required!
