Kara is my favorite of the protagonists because she's an "every-man" type. Conner and Markus are advanced prototypes with special abilities, but she's just a basic AX400. We meet her after she's been memory wiped and reset to factory defaults, making her LITERALLY an off the shelf model. Like she was born at the start. She quickly then ends up having to fend for herself and a kid in a hostile world. She may not be the great hero of the story, but she represents all the minor characters, the foot-soldiers and nameless extras, who all also have backstories.
And that’s why her breaking down in the bathroom towards the end gets me so much. She was thrown into deviancy so fast and she immediately had to do everything to put Alice first. I think that scene when she breaks down is the first time she really sits with her emotions and is overcome by them. It was so human like and relatable tbh.
The man at the store says “How can I help you ma’am.” If Kara is dressed in human attire. But if she’s dressed in her Android uniform he says “What do you want.”
I agree, but I got a little knocked out of immersion because of them and was a bit angry at the dev/writers decisions here and missed this on my fist play through. These Jerry morons just broke all the windows and doors to the only warm building in the area and flooded through like zombies because 'we just wanted to talk to you' and threatened the safety of Alice. If I were Kara at that moment (and thought Alice was human), I would have ripped strips off them and told them to fix it! lol The door wasn't locked or barred - knocking or just walking in not dramatic enough for you? I think a knock on the door -that should just not be happening- given where they were, would have went so much farther.
@@forced4motorsports Deviants have different thought from humans, especially when they are almost broken from their body for quite a time, what did you expect them to do? They even mentioned human came to hurt em, so they always on guard
KittyCake Lover Yes, but the androids can also “die” by being shot just like at Jericho. 1:35:00 I've never cried watching movies, but the carousel scene was breathtaking and wonderful - the way she was smiling just brought a tear to my eye. Seeing them in that moment of joy and happiness was just breathtaking after days of travelling in the cold and the way the carousel was lit up and the music playing in the background really added to the scene.. Beautiful
This story connected with me. A bunch of people came to my house to clean, and I didn't talk to them and wanted them to leave me alone like Alice did with Kara. But none of them helped me run away or started a relationship with me.
The attention to detail is impeccable. At the beginning you can see the house next door up for sale and the lawn is over grown. You can see the depressed economic situation. Everyone wanted to see AI and robotics but they didn’t want to see this part of it. They didn’t want to see a man lose his job, turn to drugs and then become violent and abusive toward his daughter. This is why the critics were so brutal in the criticism. This contradicts the whole concept of progress.
The problem is not the technology. It's the very system of capitalism we live under. Our system disenfranchises and criminalizes people who don't work without understanding their individual stories. Todd wasn't given any kind of help when he lost his job so he turned to drugs. Strong welfare programs would have helped Todd a lot, possibly found him another job, maybe work from home, curb his drug use. Remember that CyberLife is a for-profit private business. A corporation. Androids aren't the problem, capitalism is and has always been the problem.
@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty yes, capitalism was the problem in Mao's China and the USSR as well. Nearly 100 million died because there wasn't good welfare.

One of the only narratives in gaming where you play a mother figure and the gameplay revolves around a mother/daughter relationship. It’s such a refreshing change from the endless games about fatherhood and father/child relationships. This game deserves more credit for such a unique storyline that’s rarely seen in gaming.

This is the only time I have ever sat though someone else's video game session. It was so much like a movie with a predictable plot, yet unpredictable outcome. Entertaining.
I know right! I hope I get to watch more of these story-type gameplays and get to play them as well. Sadly, the number of these type of gameplays are not many.
You see in my opinion when it comes to games like this..... think about Xbox VS Playstation, Xbox Mostly Beats Playstation ever since Xbox 360 and Ps3 came out. BUT With Games Like Detroit: Become Human, Playstation does be fighting back with these good games.
I played this game once and was so moved by the story and what happened to the characters that I could never replay it again out of respect for the “history” of my particular universe. A very powerful and compelling experience.
the jerry scene is so sad , like they literally lived just to see children having fun, and they enjoyed simply watching one little girl on a carousel bc they were abandoned for so long
I was sad when the player sacrificed a Jerry for Kara, but then I realized that Jerry died happy because he got to save a little child in exchange of his life, and the ultimate Jerry dream is to make kids happy
Alice: Hey! You promised that you won't do that again! Kara: Sorry, Alice. This is necessary. Now go steal that person's phone and keys for his car. Alice: 😨😞😔
Kara's storyline is 1000X times better than a sad movie ! Bruh, I mean you always feel hard empathy while you watch this masterpiece ❤ A game filled with rational stuff and emotions
Amazon Echo Recently made coffee is really hot and can burn your mouth. That’s why people blow on it, especially if they aren’t going to stay long. Unless you like going to the hospital with a burnt esophagus and tongue, it’s best to blow coffee a little to cool it down.
Damn 1st time a game character shows so much emotion that you can actually feel it. I've actually downloaded this whole video to watch on my fone during a morning commute cos' it's just so engaging.
I wish they added the short film "Kara" by quantic dream in the beginning, it really feels like a part of Kara's story, even if the short film was made years before this game came out. I think it plays into how Kara is in the game, maybe she was a deviant from the start, no matter how many times her memory was wiped clean.
I like how after stealing money at the convenience store you promise not to steal again... and then proceed immediately to the laundromat, where you steal the guy's clothes.
Something I love is that despite being a deviant and starting to think like a normal human, you can still see Kara acting robotic in a lot of her interactions with other people. Like how she acts when responding to others and talking
That’s what I love about the devs. You can’t replicate androids with AI. You have to use HUMANS TRYING to act like Androids. itssss soooo goood, They’re so talented the devs and the actors/ actresses
yeah bro. I think this the first game I have seen a caring mother figure. Otherwise other games are about a father figure. This is so fuckin' deep and heart touching
Kara is my fav of the protagonists and her storyline was the most powerful. She's the strongest mother I have ever seen in a game, Alice is beyond lucky to have her by her side. Both Kara and Alice go through more drama than Connor and Markus, so it's so satisfying seeing the mother and daughter finally get a happy ending when they make it to Canada safely!
@@sabribeser2268 You have to remember one point, why would Todd’s ex wife leave without her daughter? What woman with any brains would leave their child with a monster like this. He couldn’t even keep his androids.
@@harunocaleon5786 Several reasons are possible. He either scared or threw her out, and the androids were in his name and thus his property so she couldn't legally take them. Or she somehow just died and the grief destroyed him and made him abusive . or he killed her and got away with it.
The scene where Todd starts screaming at Alice but then breaks down and apologizes and tells her he loves her, it is scary and heartbreaking. It really shows how no matter how much of a horrible person todd is, and how much he seems like nothing more than a monster, he really is a human being. And honestly that just makes it all more frightening. Even humans with feelings of remorse and regret can be the monsters. No excuses for todd's behavior though at all. He needed prison time that's for sure.
@@Brober2137 Drugs alter the body's chemistry and all about a person's perception of reality, even much time after they're supposed to be 'sober. Naturally, it's all chemistry. And then a person decides to put in some awkward outside drug inside the body with no knowledge about how it works every single component. This is certainly something to think about.
I LOVE THIS GAME. But the only thing i dislike is Alice being an android. It would have been a perfect human and android relationship to link with the whole cause of androids wanting freedom and understanding, it also would've sent a message on how even something consider a "machine" can have more care and empathy than an actual person. It’s such a refreshing change from the endless games about fatherhood and father/child relationships. This game deserves more credit for such a unique storyline that’s rarely seen in gaming.
>so unique
They literally just flipped the genders.

Kara: I'm sorry it won't happen again
Alice: Do you promise?
Kara: Sorry, I didn't quite catch that. I was stealing some clothes. Come again?

😂🤣😂
With everything that is going on in the world right now. We need more Karas.
Now imagine watching this as 18 year old for the first time and being into Mathematics, Computer Science, etc. THIS IS GENIUS!!!!

Kitty Cat I wish I could play but Xbox isn’t compatible with it 😢
So true 😌
Me 2 🙋♂️😅
You see in my opinion when it comes to games like this..... think about Xbox VS Playstation, Xbox Mostly Beats Playstation ever since Xbox 360 and Ps3 came out. BUT With Games Like Detroit: Become Human, Playstation does be fighting back with these good games.

Kara's voice lines... Just... Wow...
I played this game once and was so moved by the story and what happened to the characters that I could never replay it again out of respect for the “history” of my particular universe. A very powerful and compelling experience.

No, Todd IS the trash
the jerry scene is so sad , like they literally lived just to see children having fun, and they enjoyed simply watching one little girl on a carousel bc they were abandoned for so long
Jerry deserves a favorable outcome.
That is what they were programmed for
I was sad when the player sacrificed a Jerry for Kara, but then I realized that Jerry died happy because he got to save a little child in exchange of his life, and the ultimate Jerry dream is to make kids happy
I hope they found happiness elsewhere, maybe traveled north to Canada and worked at another theme park when they snow thawed.
I forgot he even existed in their party 💀
I can’t believe this game is a few years old. The graphics are incredible, and it’s like watching a movie!
Man, I love the feels in Kara's high-stress high-reward story.
I guess spaghetti is a very popular meal in the future
Is this a joke? its like saying bread will be popular.

Kara: Sorry, Alice. This is necessary. Now go steal that person's phone and keys for his car.

Haha i can,t stop haha
It’s so sweet how it seems as if Kara is a teen but she faded into a mother figure
Still one of the few stories in gaming that has actually invoked true emotion inside me and made me care for the characters to this day.
"Forgetting who you are, to become what someone needs you to be. Maybe that's what it means to be alive." - Luther
Amazing because it's true!
The fuck man I would never forget who I am man I would stay the same in any way
“Someone” who is good. You don’t have to become what a criminal (for instance) wants you to be. Capisci? 🐧
True, but only applicable to a very select group of "someones".

Alice would be a good girl
Spaghetti is so popular in the future

And in Red Dead only rich boy Italians know what spaghetti is.

Huh? Spaghetti? What's that?
yum spaghetti. Too bad that loser Todd wasted it.
Kara's storyline is 1000X times better than a sad movie ! Bruh, I mean you always feel hard empathy while you watch this masterpiece ❤
A game filled with rational stuff and emotions
Man, Alice breaks my heart At the start. Such a sweet innocent kid. They did good.
i love how the police guy sips the coffee without blowing it.
@Amazon Echo me
Amazon Echo Isn’t the coffee going to be hot?
Amazon Echo Recently made coffee is really hot and can burn your mouth. That’s why people blow on it, especially if they aren’t going to stay long. Unless you like going to the hospital with a burnt esophagus and tongue, it’s best to blow coffee a little to cool it down.
Amazon Echo Like literally everyone does it, to me, it’s an instinct.
@@potatosalad3097 i don't blow on my coffee haha i just wait for it to cool off for 10 mins then i sip it :D

@Zerden the Great I'm convinced them "not getting it" is it's own joke, I mean the first comment is named after a robot.
Savage kara.
Damn 1st time a game character shows so much emotion that you can actually feel it. I've actually downloaded this whole video to watch on my fone during a morning commute cos' it's just so engaging.
This game is too real like watching a good movie 🍿
Kara’s so underrated. She deserves more love!
I'd definitely love her.
ZathotheGrizzxx Valorie Curry would love to see this comment
That's Valorie Curry
She deserves to be in the bedroom.
Yeah, you know why she is underrated people like badasses/takes on multiple enemies kara is not.
I hate the way Todd breathes, it makes me very uncomfortable and makes me feel like I have asthma.
Umm excuse me?
why are you so mean to Alice
She was the reason my wife left me!!!
Todd Williams LMFAO 😂😂😂.Wait I can laugh?!
Ah, I love these *”real”* account of fictional characters.
I wish they added the short film "Kara" by quantic dream in the beginning, it really feels like a part of Kara's story, even if the short film was made years before this game came out. I think it plays into how Kara is in the game, maybe she was a deviant from the start, no matter how many times her memory was wiped clean.
My favorite game story officially! Thank you! ❤️
I like how after stealing money at the convenience store you promise not to steal again... and then proceed immediately to the laundromat, where you steal the guy's clothes.
SHE'S A KLEPTO! xD!!!!
You're right she promised to not steal again but she did
Ruben Olague yup
I swear I’m this play through they only stole from the cashier and not at the laundromat

WHAT IS THIS MASTERPIECE
This is much better content than I'm used to finding on TH-cam.
I love their mother-daughter relationship. It’s so sweet.
Yeah🥰
yeah bro. I think this the first game I have seen a caring mother figure. Otherwise other games are about a father figure. This is so fuckin' deep and heart touching
Aside from the story, the CGI & model rendering is incredibly well done.
kara is my favourite character in dbh and her story is just the best and its so cute how shes trying to be like a mother to alice
I wish Alice was a Human but the story it is great Okay
@@sabribeser2268 You have to remember one point, why would Todd’s ex wife leave without her daughter? What woman with any brains would leave their child with a monster like this. He couldn’t even keep his androids.
@@MHiggins It's not unrealistic at all. She could have been a terrible mother and person.
@@harunocaleon5786 Several reasons are possible.

@@milesislost3354 wtf I'm literally crying
Lol
The scene where Todd starts screaming at Alice but then breaks down and apologizes and tells her he loves her, it is scary and heartbreaking. It really shows how no matter how much of a horrible person todd is, and how much he seems like nothing more than a monster, he really is a human being. And honestly that just makes it all more frightening. Even humans with feelings of remorse and regret can be the monsters. No excuses for todd's behavior though at all. He needed prison time that's for sure.
Sadly..that makes sense..
DRUGS
Prison time's and a psy. A real one. He needed help.
But even so if Kara doesn't save alice get kills her and kara
@@Brober2137 Drugs alter the body's chemistry and all about a person's perception of reality, even much time after they're supposed to be 'sober. It changes everything inside so that a person can not comprehend properly the reality itself.
It is so sensitive to how a human body works and, essentially a human brain. Naturally, it's all chemistry. And then a person decides to put in some awkward outside drug inside the body with no knowledge about how it works every single component. This is certainly something to think about.

I wish they kept Alice as human, it would have made the bond between them that much more meaningful.
What an amazing storyline, thanks for sharing
I LOVE THIS GAME. But the only thing i dislike is Alice being an android. It would have been a perfect human and android relationship to link with the whole cause of androids wanting freedom and understanding, it also would've sent a message on how even something consider a "machine" can have more care and empathy than an actual person. The alice android twist was the only major flaw I saw in the game.
It's a story about deviants.. Then again Markus and Carl was an example too. Carl treating Markus like his son.
Mau5 Fan yes she is, there’s a clip somewhere on TH-cam of it being revealed if you search for it
True. But i still love alice. It would have been seeing them different
And in one ending, Hank and Connor have a father-son relationship
YOU-5-IVER I totally agree!
the irony is that there won't be any humans left on earth for the robots to work for, so they are already obsolete.
