I think uranium was mixed into all sorts of colors. I have some purple and brownish or grayish that lights up green. It's not like switching on the lights, with the yellow and green stuff. But it's there. Bright leds can give a lot of reflection, which hinders. An old school tube can come in handy.
I have lots and lots of uranium glass. Been collecting these little round glass balls since the 70s.. lots of awesome uranium glass in American machine made marbles..
The very first vase you showed that's completely solid white with yellow handles is Victorian Custard Glass, Stevens & Williams I believe on that one. 1880's definitely 🤙
Ah, I was pretty certain it was Czech, but places like England and Boston seem to have made a fair bit of glass in similar styles. Every time I learn something I realize I have to learn something else. 😭 Hahaha
Youve been very helpful. Amazing pieces you have. Thanks for the good work. Plus you have a great sense of humor. I was laughing the whole time. Plus I learned some stuff too. Cool 😎 beans!
Manganese has kind of the look of some shades of fluorite when hit with UV light. The blue/green fluorite under regular light has a kind of pale lead-like tone, but under UV, it does fluoresce…just not as boldly as uranium will. I love the cadmium, and some where they were tossing all kinds of mineral salts at the molten glass, and creating a wide range of colours on one piece. I need to learn more about these types of glass. Thanks for the intro. I missed what the lion had hold of…but it appeared that he lay down with the lamb …and ate him. Not quite how I recall hearing that story lol.🖤🇨🇦

Just a heads up! Since you're using a 365 uv light, uranium glass will light up with it, however if you want to see the clear difference between a manganese and a uranium glow, use a 395 uv light. The uranium glass will glow like crazy. I do think a lot of what you are calling uranium glass is actually manganese.
Sick I got a cadmium vase and I have manganese, uranium, cobalt, and lead glass flowers in it and they all fluoresce with either greens, oranges, or purples
@@markikkeryeah so I know 365 will give you the most bang for your buck if you want to see a variety of glass, but if you’re solely looking for U glass I’d go with the 395 and it will pick up manganese faintly

Thanks for the video. I'm a new collector and trying to understand the difference. I have two uranium pieces so far. I would love to have more. Thanks for the video.
There is some really interesting pieces there. I wonder how long before you discover Uranium glazes, because there is a lot of items that glow Uranium green that aren't glass.
I would have never thought that some were uranium glass...Next trip to the fleamarket, I will have to shine my black light on more than green and yellow pieces.

Nice video. Thank you. I’ve collected uranium glass for a couple of years now and have a few different colours but not grey or clear, so still on the hunt for those. I don’t know if you know but the cut glass handled dish at the beginning of your video is British Davidson Pearline, sometimes called a nappy bowl. I have a query, if you or anyone in your comments know the answer to this..I’ve bought a purple piece of glass with a green uranium glass foot and concerned that the purple is due to it being irradiated in a microwave (I believe it turns the manganese in clear glass purple) what I wondered is if that was done would it have had an effect on the green uranium foot as well?
The nappy at the beginning of this video is by Northwood Glass Company. Very rare pattern called Diadem. 🙂 I'd have to see the piece you're wondering about, but I think it's easily as likely that it was made in purple and green, and not later modified. If you add me as a friend on Facebook you can show it to me. I have the same name there. no spaces.
Hey Auston.do you have any Fenton clear glass birthday bears? If you do Shine your 365mn light in them. Some of mine shine back with a little green. I now check all my clear glass. Surprise what you will fine looking back at you in green. Enjoy my friend. 😉
Did I show a piece covered in baby powder? Haha, we got very lucky a while back and got to buy everything inside of a hoarder house for $3,000. Two years later we still have boxes of glass from there. Not poking fun at all, but the fella had completely lost his mind. He kept every glass item in his home covered in baby powder so he would "know if the robots and little green men were touching his things while he was gone." A quote from the family. 😬
@besticanaffordantiques2565 I just found your channel and am going through the videos but I was too impatient to find out what the reference meant. 😁 Thanks!
I got my two UV lights on Amazon! 365nm. They were 12.99 each with free shipping over $25, so I got two! Otherwise, you can get a generic blacklight flashlight (doesn't work very well on anything besides uranium glass) in Walmart sporting goods, or your favorite local hippy bong store, for like $5!
